This is funny but I found that Gaxan dude purely by accident..I didn't even realize I had the quest going and when I encountered him I had an all warrior party. A long fight but we beat him..keening blade was a real boon.

He's the hardest boss to defeat. I always had troubles with Revenants. I focused on immobilizing them and then attacking by fire spells and granades .

okay tip for Grey Warden recruits, always keep a rogue in your party, or BE one (saves A LOT of party space, since rogues are practically mandatory with all the chests and locked doors which has cool stuff in it, so choosing to be a rogue give you the choice of having a damaging mage (Morrigan) and healing one (Wynne) they are both a powerful combo. and let Alistair tank as much as possible so focus on his shield tree. or have another tank to replace morrigan

For those who want the Fade Wall, one of the better shields out there, you get a higher chance if you play on Nightmare, a dirty trick is to get him down to 5% of his health in easy, then swap to Nightmare to finnish him off. Hes definitely one of the harder NPCs out there to fight in Nightmare, but have Alister tank and hold Agro, Wynne focusing all heals on Alister, Zevran back-stabbing and someone supporting with Range [Leilana] or Magic [Morrigan]. Just fit your PC in one of these spots.

for a better sword and the king cailans armor get the downloadable content: return to ostagar for 400 mp and you fight darkspawn and you can get the kings armor, duncan's dagger and sword, a nug crusher, and (the better sword of keening blade) Maric's blade

you brought a 2h heavy like Sten? slow rate of attack + gaxkang's high melee resistance is a bad move. I brought 3 mages and zevran (kept bringing him around behind gaxkang for back stabs). he goes down quick if you use Mana Clash against his arcane horror form

i suggest everyone saves before entering the hotel. fade wall drops about 1 in 10 times and is definitely worth it. if you kill him without saving before hand and dont get the drop, there is no way to get it

@Collegeboi3132481 All two handed swords are better than longswords. The Ageless is the best two handed sword (if u dont have Starfang that is), and the Keening Blade is possibly the best longsword, unless u have Return to Ostagar. In which case, its Duncan's Sword.

Oh Gaxkang...this battle frustrated me quite a bit. This guy is immune and resistant to everything. And it killed off my mages in one or two hits with his aoe since they kept walking up to close range. My warrior was quite effective against it IF I managed to score a hit. Nine times out of ten I just kept missing. So yes, I think they overpowered this creature.

@RobBle15 you have to get the skill for it which is the last tier in the dual wielding ability. I think you need a dex of 36 to be able to do so.

I personally (since I don't have any DLC yet) love this blade since it has 3 slots on it. Since I have dual mastery I have the kneeing blade in one hand and I think the topsider's sword in the other. To bad I never got the fade wall shield though, I tried like 8 battles before I gave up :P
