average in blur?...he always played the parts that fitted the music, like most solid pros. he didnt need to show off his "chops". there is plenty of evidence in blurs back catalogue where he plays other styles with ease.jazz,samba,punk and ska are a few examples. though,you would know that if you were familar with their old material,...................... and you were a drummer.

@DigitalBoyTV Dave is not at all average, he played what he needed to to complement the tunes and it worked perfectly. If you wanna see Dave at his best check out a live version of Come Together, he's top-notch there. You could even compare him to Ringo in the way that he just played what was needed for the tune and didn't flaunt his skills. Some Blur drum parts seem quite simple on the surface but when you really look at it and listen to it you think "Wow, how did he come up with that?"
