550d and 7d are almost as same but daddy is daddy...7d has 8 fps shutter speed and 550d has 3.7fps shutter speed... so the thing is if you are a pro user then 550d would`nt help.
@AyesThatsme And, between t2i and t3i, knowing the price ranges what do you recommend mw if i have already 700 dollars, should i wait until i get more money an get the t3i or what?, i'll use this for Shooting Videos almost ALL the time, so what could you tell me please, and thank you.
@Sketch2Draw the t3i is about 250 dollars more expensive on ebay, but the only real main difference is that it has a moveable screen which is useful in some peoples eyes. I'd personally probably go with the 550d since there is no difference in the video quality, its cheaper, and in the future I'd probably look into buying a higher end DSLR. I mean... why pay more for something that is almost the same? Also if your thinking of mostly or only shooting videos perhaps you should look into camcorders
I'm using the 7D as the primary camera and the 550D as backup/video cam. Both are good, but of course the 7D is awesome. First Canon that really impressed me.
cool vid. woulda been nice to see the back of the cameras as well. couldnt see the 7D. ahha was waiting for it to be turned around. but oh well. good review. for how much the 7D is worth. the t2i kicks butt :P for how close they are.
Thank you for this great video. Actually I don't know wwhich one to buy. I have this G10 which is great but I need one which I can record HD videos and also make some great pictures.
@TheZacharyWeekend 550D is the universal/internaltional name. In the U.S. it's called the T2i. It's the same thing, just different name depending on region.
The photos and videos that come out of the 7D and T2i are gonna be practically identical. They have the same sensor. And with a good lens, the pictures will be great from either one. Unless you're going to be a sports pro photographer, then get the t2i.
if you are just a casual photographer then id get the 550d/t2i instead of the 7d. with the money saved you can buy a real gd glass. However if you want to take on a more professional approach to digital photography then i guess 7d is the way to go but IMHO its glass>camera body
Excellent video! I'm curious, both Canon and the manual say the T2i will autofocus while in video mode. Manual focus I was able to get, but as yet I can't get it to auto focus while in video mode. So if I start filming a chair from 10 ft away, and move towards it, the camera won't autofocus. What's your experience with this please?
Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! This video only focuses on the differences instead of the shared similarities. This helps me a lot more than all the other reviews so far, Thanks!
the sensor is almost identical to the 7D which I compared to the GH1. 720/60p is better on the gh1, 1080/24p is much better on the 7D, also the 7D is approx 1 stop better when it comes to low light.
550(+magick latern) - better ;) better than 550 is 5dm2. better for reportage is Sony A65\77 with super autofocus and hyper speed

Also, the LCD on the 7D gets hotter faster because of the metal body. Interesting differences.

I hear the 550D has a sharper image for stills? Anyone test the video comparison between the 7D and the 550D?
glennwih 2 years ago
vido is exactly the same..
the 7d has more manual options and a higher iso

True. But the 550D has a sharper ready to print image. This is what the Canon rep. told me.
