  • Unfortunate that he settled down in Pakistan where he was not appreciated as much as he desreved. If he was in India he would have been bigger artist

  • He playes darbari like no other - deeply spiritual, full of grandeur and mystery. His immersion in the act of performing and dedication to his own, very personal, expressiveness are breathtaking. Sometimes I do find he overlong addresses to the audience distracting and a little self-indulgent, but I see it is mostly part of his very intimate contact with the listener. It's an old audio, and, yes, certainly, the sound and audio are rather poor in quality, but one can hear and see enough!

  • Ustad Rais sb is alive and settled in PAKISTAN.

  • Very nice!!

  • Amazing amazing heart touching really amazing

  • he was in God favor I think...if not he could not move our hearts.

  • love rais khan's tone (and his playing of course!)

  • Music to absolutely listen to - Sad that this very great artist got forgotten in Pakistan

  • SUBSHRUB, I am very sorry to say, this great mastero passed away few months back.

  • @mohammadbeg, A part me died when I read your comment about Raees Khan's passing away :(

  • If anyone knows this man in person, please thank him for playing this profound music! Any listener will be transformed, i think.

  • Kaaaaaaamal!!

  • Well! PTV has a treasures of gems like this. Ustaad Raees Khan...it is said that he is a master compare to none and couldnt get widespread recognition out side Pakistan mainly because he is living in Pakistan. Thanks for posting this video.

  • This is magnificent! thank you!

  • zabardast Khush Rahoo!!!!!!

  • Bless you as well sir

  • Yes he is the master. Though the Ati-Komal Dhaivat you speak of is VERY well known by us serious players as well as the Ati Komal Ga- guys what he is saying is that the 3rd and the 6th note in Aeolian Mode or Asawari Thaat are extra flat in the Raga. I do not know what "rarely" means since ALL pro musicians who play this Raga keep this in mind or else they would not be playing the Raga - simple. I am a direct disciple of Ustad Sultan Khan and learned my sitar technique from Ustad R.Khan.

  • Explain what you mean by extra flat please. Does that mean the Da would be in between a normal Pa and Da, for example?

  • Kya baat hai! Ustad-ji is amazing.

  • Thanks alot for uploading.. Jazakallah khairan

  • thanks alot man pls post more
