Brian Tattler was one of those forgoten guitar gods, notice he taps with his pinkie finger and ring finger, witch for all those musican people out there know is hard to do,tasty lead as well.
Diamond Head where managed my the mum of one of the band members. That might be the reason why they never made it very big. Great band still, unlike Metallica they suck.
i totally agree, these men formed this band and did the tunes, i respect metallica but they did bring some fame for am i evil, i really think that DIAMOND HEAD shud have been prometed more for it, their MUSIC,THEIR LYRICS...these guys were let down in a bad way
hey you people that keep on sayin shit about Metallica all of the original members of metallica actually loved Diamond Head... one time on tour they had the Diamond Head singer sing Am I Evil? to the audience with the metallica guys playing their instruments
i love Diamond Head. especially this song. but, correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds exactly the same as the version on Best Of Diamond Head. live recording or is this fake?
I had a couple of pints with them at The Turnpike in Northampton when they were just starting out in the early eighties......the support band was The Alien Sex Fiend. When Diamond Head turned up Sean Harris asked me "Who the fuck are these?"....we didn't know either. Diamond Head were awesome that night playing to about 40 people (if that). I've still got the white label promo album that was only available by mail-order.
why on earth are this band not as big as priest or that, if any1 can show me a better nwobhm band please tell me(maiden dont count in my opinion because they are the best band ever hands down) . diamond head are one of the best bands iv ever heard yet not alot of people know who they are
Dear God... the first time I heard this song, I thought it was so amazing I cried. And you know what? It still brings tears to my eyes. I really wish I had been there when all of this kickin' music was in it's hey-day (I'm only 17, unfortunately) but at least cool people still upload great promo vids to give me my daily quota of great music!
@BrokenSolitary you need to pay attention to the bands of your time. You never know where is that magic band that plays the anthems for your generation. A lot of the older bands are great to listen to but many are just about done and many are retiring. It's up to you to carry the torch forward.
@Devoidize I do. I can thank my younger sister for that. But I feel a need to bring back something I think has been lost. Music today is all about the look- not even so much about the sound. If you can use sex appeal to sell, you've got a career. I think music needs to take a step back and be about the music again. I've always felt as though I'm across this great divide, with the rest of my generation on the other side. I've never understood them, try as I might.
@BrokenSolitary It's always been the same. You have to do like Lars Ulrich did and look underground, where he found Diamond Head. Somewhere there is an underground band who is really innovative.
@Devoidize We exist without any sense of togetherness, theme, or pride. We hate each other, for unknown reasons. My generation is severely broken. Fixable, but broken. I don't want to be a part of it. Instead, I want to stand on the outside of it, and show it what's it's missing by pressing forward without looking back.
i recently saw them on the bbc guitar legends programme and it said lars ulrich saw this band and they inspired him to form metallica is that true i know deep purple inspired lars as a yong kid but the rest of metallica have different influences as far as i know like hammett was inspired by hendrix and so on
well u have 2 understand that all metallica did was took "Am I Evil" and made a cover that was a bit heavier so w/e u like depends completely on the persons opinion. truthfully i prefer Diamondhead over metallica
These guys are were incredible! I can't see how people prefer Metallica! Honestly: weissheim had to disable comments on the video for "Am I Evil?" because all that people could talk about was the fact that Tatler dressed funny, and that Metallica is better simply because they sold more albums.
I want to see Tatler shove that V up Ulrich's butt!
Most definitely, Metallica's cover made the original sound like crap, just because it's more known doesn't mean it's better. Lets get Diamond Head and SLADE to kick Metallica's ass.
I wouldn't say that Metallica made Diamond Head sound like crap, and I think that the promo video that weissheim uploaded is completely epic, but I DO prefer Metallica's album version over Diamond Head's album version.
@dobiedub1 so because metallica is better at putting themselves out to their audiences and other possible listeners you hate them? i like diamond head and all, but metallica perfected the art of thrash and whatever genre you believe diamond head sports.
@camtastic666 No. I don't hate them. I just dislike them because all they are are sellouts. James has turned into a total fucking girl through these past years. They make good music but not near as good as when they could still call themselves "thrash."
@rocknrollman1234 they are big man this guys where the influence for metallica i am a metallica fan and i belive this first bands are the real metal the others are just commercial
awesome band, i remember listening to this song years ago, ya know when a song makes you remember a time that seems so long ago. but the music remains timeless.

It's a great pitty Diamond head isn't as famous as bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, metallica :-??... Brian Tatler is a god!Sean Harris is the greatest vocalist Diamond Head had!!
Takes me back, still have this on Vinyl although haven't listened to it for 25 years. Sean Harris was acting like some teen idle, I'm embarrassed now to say when he put his hand out to me like a heart throb I pulled him off stage. Funny at the time but something I am not proud of.

Pop and R&B were both very influential to Sean Harris. Maybe not today's versions of it, but back then...
