I'm a huge western fan, and I've seen all sorts, from all budgets, and all kind of writers. But I honestly have to say this is the WORST OF ALL TIME. It's terrible, every element of it, awful. It soils the names of some of its major stars. Most importantly, its almost entirely LIES. It shames Buffalo Bill Cody in a way that, to me, is unforgivable. Cody wasn't perfect, but he was loved, and for a good reason. The Native Americans, including Sitting Bull, respected him greatly.

I remember the events of this movie personally. You can compare it to the movie "The Snow Walker", which teaches of the legend of the Popbawa and how it affects the lives of men not only in Africa but in the American West as well. The similarities of theme are uncanny, but obviously the setting is different.
