the dyes that are use are one made of cats and dogs or are food coloring i know this am a groomer and i do this to my dog and cat. it not paint and please if you want to do this look up the law in your state first so you do not end up in a fine. the band was for chicks that back in the old days where dumped in a bucket of dye and it got in there lungs and they died due to that. Please understand that there are competition where you do this to your pet and it not harmful at all.

Most domesticated animals are bred to look different and behave differently. MOST of that is incredibly more damaging to the animal than non-toxic stain.. Pretty much all dogs are a man made (unless they are true wild dogs. But no one is dying them. So it's irrelevant).

I heard from somewhere that some fish are colored with some kind of lazer. I'm not sure if it's true, but I don't think it's very healthy. Nothing against the uploader or anything - these are just pictures. But I had a couple fish that were dyed once. One had a heart on his side and the other had "I love you" written on his side. They unfortunately didn't last very long at all. :( My guess is that it's more harmful to fish than it is to other animals.

Some of these are just photoshops.

For dogs, the minor little issue is that its not good for them to ingest THAT MUCH food coloring, which they do when licking themselves clean, just as you shouldn't drink a bottle of food dye.

For cats, its not the end of the world, but same issue that they ingest too much of it which is not ideal, and the dye tends to remove essential oils and dry out their coats so you may see shedding.

For a special event, no biggie, just don't do it ALL the time.

The dye used on animals is not harmful to them. It isn't even real dye. It is a stain. One many kids use in their hair when they want to add color to their hair. The stain doesn't hold harmful chemicals or anything like that. If you have a problem with this, then I suggest you never get your dog groomed, because the process is pretty much exactly the same!
