Everyone is saying low rpms. Its a 6 speed for started so 60mph is going to be real low rpms in third gear and when he his 120 its at redline so its normal lol.
@BlackLS1TA ...? Thought this was a four-speed slushbox car - not saying that the owner didn't decide to rip out the original tranny in favor for a manual, but I've yet to meet someone who did such a swap on a for-real TTA - although I hear that the Ford 9-inch rearend swap is the way to go...
@pvtnum11 Yeah this is an auto car in all honesty i dont know how the hell that comment got on this video i was leaving it on another video. Sorry bout the confusion
im curious is that a 700r-4 or 200-4r tranny? i know the 200 came in grand nationals and would figure they put those in t/a as well, but 700 come in t/a normally
@agent3u A shape block? is that something you made up? the 3.8 is a 90 degree v6 based on the buick 215 aluminum v8 that was sold to range rover in the 60s, and its a deep skirt design more like a Y shaped block ;)
@agent3u Lighter than the 700R4 also. IIRC, the 200R4 had the BOP bolt pattern on the bell housing. Also, the first gear isn't as steep as the one on the 700R4. To get the 200R4 to work in a third-gen, they had to do some sort of tail shaft modification so the torque arm would bolt to it... I think.
@pvtnum11 TCI sells an adapter plate that bolts the BOP engine configurations to the chevy trannys, that way no mods from tranny back. that's what i'm doing with my GN swap into my Camaro. I beefed up the trans. and rear end though.
It's got all the mods except for the engine internals, TA49 turbo, exhaust, intake, fueling, alky injection, 25psi boost. It puts down right around 400HP / 520 ftlb to the ground.
How can the it take a boost that heavy? I've never heard of such a thing for that matter! Btw get rid of that system if it takes maximum push to get that little power. Check out STS TURBO they have bolt on turbos that go into the back and with only in an engine such as a LS1 at 5 PSI you'll have over 500 HP and Torque! Also they don't give you all the problems and money costs that yours might be giving you :D P.S - They have universal models
What all have you done to it? Turbotweak chip? I just got my tta a few Weeks ago!

Now that you inadvertently brought it up, that would be a nice engine swap: LC2 into a 3rd gen Firehawk. Probably a good idea to have a BOV then, too

That seems weird for such a low rpm and such a high speed. That turbo doesn't spool hard either.
scoobyfan2009 2 years ago
@scoobyfan2009 What do you mean? It was running 5500 RPM at 120MPH.
detourbeach 2 years ago
@detourbeach
Im not saying anything bad just havnt seen a car run such high speeds in a low RPM.. No doubt though.
scoobyfan2009 2 years ago
Check out the video of the car hitting 165 in 4th gear then ;) The car redlines at 5,500 RPM stock, it's no Honda!

@scoobyfan2009 lots and lots of torque

wow thats a long gear. would have been quicker if the gearing wasnt so far apart

wat does the overdrive gear mean???? like i have a 1998 trans am w/ 4spd auto wat does that mean i have 5spd
robertarapaj101 3 years ago
Overdrive is a gear much higher than your normal driving gears, meant to cruise on the highway at lower RPM, saving gas and engine wear.

I had the converter locked up and it seems to get a little bit when I do that, not sure if it is real or fake...
detourbeach 4 years ago
Holy shit was that only in 3d gear when it hit 120 mph and max rpms? Nice not bad for a older firebird and nice turbo!
MetalHeadXi158 4 years ago
Yeah, in 4th it has gearing to do 180mph which it should have enough hp to pull. Fastest I've had it was 150 and I had to let off.

wow your clueless daddy the 700 is for a SBC pattern block.. the 3.8 has a [ A shape block ] the 200 has multicase bellhousing

impressive you knew that and asked why a 700r4 was not used on the 90* 3.8
NICE

@MetalHeadXi158 a low 8:1 compression allows for higher boost
roger199013 1 year ago
When my TTA grows up, I'd like it to do that...
