@SacredSocietyAP Libertarians and others can wish all they want that human nature will change, but they're missing that it's a mathematical, systemic problem of the state plurality voting systems, and nothing will change before that is.
what is the point of the democrats and republicans? why have two parties in one country? what sense does that make? why fight ppl who live in the same continent as yourself? why isnt there just one party that represents us as a whole? it doesnt make sense to have two parties represent one continent...the united states...just my thoughts
Give most humans half a brain and they will vote themselves into a two-party state that is steadily evolving toward a closed society. Give a few among them a full brain and allow them to speak out and those with half a brain will dismiss the few as being radical contrarians who have lost touch with reality.
Too many people claim libertarianism as a title. I am thinking currently that a real change would have to occur from the ground up, so perhaps Russel Means would be better, since the worst living conditions in the USA are the Lakota Indian reservation. Fixing those first would be a strong start to rectifying the rest of the USA.
just one question: are political parties even legal in the constitutional sense or has this country been doing something illegal for two centuries according to its own constitution?
@XLnotsofunny Well technically it is not addressed in the constitution. So political parties are legal. Only two Presidents were in office with no party affiliation, George Washington and John Tyler in his second term. The only other party that has been President was the Whig party. It's just a organized group of folks that come together to vote on certain issues collectively. What should be illegal is the two-party monopoly system we have today.
I don't want to vote for childrent who resort to, out of desperation, mudslinging, slander, etc. I'm not partaking in the political process this year.
but libertarianism IMO, will make things WORSE. We don't need more captialism, we need less.
I was looking into the Green Party, and it did seem good, but I don't like some of Nader's policies (such as his support for a Free Palestine) however, the party did seem to really care about the people, and a lot of the policies made sense. the question is however, will these politicians do what they promise?
This movement calls for unfettered Captalism: no Labor rights, no public supervision on governance, no security of any kind for the public, no assistance for the ill and the poor. No financial help for unprevileged students and unfulfilled talent, no fair competition, ...
This small government fetish has to end for anything real to actually happen. Governments can't possibly be evil if they are truly elected and supervised by the public.
On the other hand, when there is no government, corporations and captalists are free to enslave the unprevileged unboundedly, without any moral or ethical reservations.
Libertarians are effectively defending the fascist right wing movement in the US without knowing it.
The Libertarian party is the best but can't really challenge the system we have now from outside the 2 party framework. They can run as a member of one of the 2 parties like Ron Paul did and change things that way.
Quite honestly I think the very concept of a political party is archaic and the whole thing needs to go. Parties has just encouraged bias and antagonism and it just hinders he political process... If everyone was independent then people will truly decide on candidates and points of view based on integrity instead of affiliation.... Sure I agree, the Libs are the best, but in the end we just don't need political parties.
@camreeno360 I agree that the party system causes disasterous and unavoidable problems. When was the last time any of them have promoted domestic tranquility? I believe there are still some good guys in DC, but no more than a handful. Most of them score their political points at the expense of the people on a routine basis. It wouldn't be this way if the press was actually on our side. The Libs are pretty much communists now. It doesn't get any more obsessive than that.
People just don't seem to get it. I mean it's always the debate of "who's right"....Oh the Dems did this, the GOP did that.... It's just ridiculous. The vast majority of people in Congress just enslave themselves to whatever their party advocates or whatever their lobbyists tell them, leaving little room for independent thought. It's just a neverending cycle of recycling the same junk of a system in which no problems truly get fixed.
I mean how many people call to end the Fed besides Ron Pa
they have the support of the mass media...they argue in front of us for entertainment/ratings/...and continue on their global agenda while we are split.

Haha, I guess they want one party rule like a kind of Chinese communist goverment or an old Soviet style one party system. We all saw how that worked out, lol.
This crap has been brought up in every election for a hundred years. It's basically a news story with no movement.
