  • My appreciation for music has been augmented.

  • listen this song... re-install the game

  • it never gets old. thats a fact!

  • @3355Nick Nope.

  • This is one of the best games ever. And soundtracks.

  • JC Denton = Jesus Christ Denton???

  • @asdfzxc920 Amen 2 That Brother AMEN!!!

  • X-Men theme

  • Music wonderfull, game bad.

  • @Wolfenstein71 And why do you say that?

  • @Karekristensson It´s true, that´s all.

  • @Wolfenstein71 Not a good reason.

  • @Karekristensson It´s slow, boring and ugly graphic.

  • @Wolfenstein71 Really? You judge a classic game by its graphics?

You don't seem to have any good taste at all.

Judging a game by its graphics and gameplay is very stupid.

  • @Karekristensson You are very clever and it´s very good.

  • @Wolfenstein71 You're very confusing, you know that?

  • @Karekristensson Ending!

  • @Wolfenstein71 And what do you mean by that?

  • @Karekristensson End of discussion. Bye!

  • @Wolfenstein71 you're dumb. bye.

  • @dunkdude3 He obviouisly wasn't gifted with having a brain since he judges a game by its graphics and not by how fun it is to play.

  • @Karekristensson he is very invalid.

  • @Karekristensson He also said slow and boring by the way, if your going to argue wit hhim don't just cherry-pick something he said. And the aesthetics are very ugly, I believe that's what he means by graphics. Everything's a dull, drab grey.

Regardless, the gameplay is blow-your-mind awesome and he is a total moron :P

  • put on a trenchcoat and fight some conspiricies....

  • One of the few game themes that give me goosebumps...every time.

  • Listening this song is like an addiction to me. If I don't listen it twice a daily, I feel restless.

  • The best part was playing Deus Ex human revolution is listening this song at the end of the credit.

  • @novacat415 Agreed!

    :D

  • @novacat415

my face when it started playing

  • What is the meaning of the Deus Ex logo? Answer please. Thanks in advance.

  • @xDarkTemplar it's a stylized DE

the point in the middle is the middle bar in the E

  • @Minority119 I could also see a letter X on the logo so maybe this letter X stands for the word Ex.

  • @colonist067 huh, what do you know

didn't really notice it as an X (pretty blind from me XD)

  • Comment removed

  • SPOILER ALERT!!!

To those of you who havent completed deus ex human revolution you'll be in for a surpirse, if you watch the entire credits once you finish the game theres a secret ending and once thats finished they start playing this theme at the end which i think was pretty damn awesome. Also if you didnt know human revolution is based before the first deus ex.

  • @unr34lt1mon Yea, it's annoying that you only see Bob Page twice in human revolution though, it feels like it's just fanservice.

  • @Firetaffer well i dont if its me but i reckon their gonna remake the first or at least release an add on for human revolution in the future leading up to the first.

  • This is played at the end of Deus Ex 3, I almost jizzed my pants when it started playing.

  • This is played at the end of Deus Ex 3's credits, I almost jizzed my pants when it started playing it. It brought back good old memories of Deus Ex. :-)

  • Now this music at the end of DE3s credits just killed me... Think I'll find a way to run DE1 on W7 now... :)

  • @Asator12345

Don't worry, just install it and patch. Works flawlessly on my Windows 7 64-bit :D Loving this game to bits.

  • @Asator12345 steam?

  • Just like that! I have reinstalled the game!

  • Deus ex has been retextured and I have to say that it makes the argument about graphics completely irrelevant :) the retexturing is epic, which just makes the game even more timeless than it already is

  • Gotta love the deus ex games man , one of the games ever .. this music really makes wanna play the 1st game again, FUCKINN EPIIIC !!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Deus Ex was an excellent game. I'd say it's superior to HL series and ME series in both storyline and gameplay. And it's 11 years old.

  • @thebum07 Man, you are in for a treat. I agree with everyone else, the game really picks up. I was also less than impressed with it at first, and the graphics are decidedly subpar (they weren't GREAT even for the time), but the story and the depth of gameplay soon became irresistible.

  • I remember I would just sit at the character creation and listen to the music, imagining the character if he was maxed out at all skills: killing people from a mile away, swimming like a dolphin, bypassing security systems in the blink of an eye, outrunning bullets...

Now I need to go see if I can find Deus Ex on my computer!

  • Show me another game that puts brilliant excerpts from Chesterton novellas in books you can read to help set the mood.

"But he saw that these fears were fancies, for he found himself in the presence of the great fact of the fear of death, with its coarse and pitiless common sense. He felt like a man who had dreamed all night of falling over precipes, and had woke up on the morning when he was to be hanged."

  • Now, after listening to this, my hearing is augmented.

  • I'm not really sure what to think of this game yet. I'm only at the third mission so far, but I'm not really that impressed as I expected it to be better form all the comments I've read about it. It's not a bad game, but it didn't age very well compared to other old games, but perhaps it will get better later on. I'll at least play though it so I can comment on it more fairly.

  • @thebum07

Don't give up, you've just scratched the tip of the iceberg at mission three. As the story begins to unravel, the atmosphere skyrockets and you'll start to notice the small things that create that atmosphere - music being one of the key elements.

  • @thebum07

Sound a bit like me back when I tried it the first time. "Meh..."

Then, around mission 3, it just goooooooooooooes up! It's in my top 5 now, hopefully yours will to.

Just so you know, this happened to me with other games. Those games happened to be Resident Evil 4 and Fallout... Fantastic games too. Endure and you might discover the gem that is Deus Ex.

  • I am now the proud owner of a pre-order receipt for Deus Ex: Human Revolution!

Deus Ex is one of those game series that doesn't need so many games in the series to be good. It only needs the original to set an example for itself.

  • Laputan Machine.

  • Although Deus Ex had bad graphics, the aesthetics were amazing. A dystopian environment because of economic collapse combined with advanced technology belonging to the state and few citizens having access to it. The dark smoggy sky was also great.

  • Great song. Great game.

  • "nice jacket you got there"

  • I wanted orange but he gave me a bomb! A BOMB!!My shame is augmented

  • I don't know what people are saying about Deus Ex's "bad" graphics. I think it looks appropiate for the 2000's, and, honestly, I think that that's the best year for graphics. It's the year when graphics were at their best without

1.Sacrificing gameplay for graphics during design

2.Making the graphics a distraction for the player because of their amazingly good/bad quality, lowering the enjoyment factor (Yes, Crysis/Pacman 2600, I'm looking at you)

  • Best Game Ever Made.

  • @Xigmatek RISE, FROM YOUR GRAVE.

  • I never noticed the eye in the pyramid kind of thing with its logo. Someone was mentioning this game is involved with plots like those.

  • I SPILL MY DRINK !!!

  • Sorry about this joke but...

1 person didn't reinstall this game!

  • Who gave this a dislike?

    Come on, now, be honest.

  • No vocals?

    What a shame.

  • I like this version as opposed to the live orchestral version

  • i thought it was official sound track

  • Great song.

  • I just love it :D

  • im gonna play it again! fuck ea games's games

  • Comment removed

  • Oh... Goose bumps on the skin of this melody. As soon as I heard the tune - immediately realized that the game will be cool. And I was right.

  • So many things about this game are just amazing. You can just do it your way. Hell, even super small things like breaking doors are amazing.

  • deus ex just behind thief (exept part 3) are one of my favorite games, also the soundtracks

  • *sheds tear*

  • Oh my god JC! A bomb!

    A BOMB! D<!

  • @joshuapsgibbons

hillarious times in entertainment history ;)

    DX rules

  • Simply the most intense and thrilling experience I have ever had with a video game. Just countless hours of pure gameplay without any rendered sequences or fake emotional music and still creating an atmosphere that can hardly be put into words.

I don't even remember how many times I replayed this and yet always discovered something I have not seen before. Sadly this masterpiece did not get the attention it actually deserved.

  • @marktheshark87 The best games (and people) tend to go unnoticed.

  • An absolutely amazing game. At the last level I completed ALL the prerequisites for each end and spent ages deciding what was best! Then I completed ALL the endings. Jeez, it's just a game and it made me do that!

  • BEST FPS of 90years !

  • @SnakeEater130000 there where only like 20 fps before this and they where in 91

  • @SnakeEater130000 It was released in the year 2000.

  • @SnakeEater130000

It was published in 2000 *rolling-eyes*

  • @laurin84 What he's saying is it's the best ever.....get with the program!

  • the last time i played this i was four years old :D, remember, i was xtremly frightended of helios

  • I just recently started playing this game for the first time. It kicks ass. Like, a lot.

  • @degreenfreak

have fun, you will replay it about 50 times and find new cool stuff, places, persons, plot strings and decisions every time

  • oh man, the good old times, i love this music... still remember very well my brother and me playing this. best game ever <3

who made the music? does anybod know?

  • Deus Ex is just one of the best games of all time. (still very much playable and enjoyable today)

Hope the trend of making all games multiplatform will NOT continue, as Deus Ex II is quite horrible in comparison to this masterpiece.

... and the music on Deus Ex was almost at level Chuck Norris in Kick-Ass

  • @edirhC

Deus Ex, the original, was Multi Platfrom too...

(Haven't played Dues Ex 2 yet, but it can't be THAT bad :P. )

  • @JoshuatheKodiak

Deus Ex, the original one was originally PC, and later on converted to work on consoles as well, whereas DE2 Invisible War was purposefully made multi-platform to begin with. And I suggest not playing DE2 Invisible War, it's a mediocre game in itself, and comparing it to the original Deus Ex just makes you cry.

On the positive side though, Deus Ex 3, Human Revolution should be soon(tm) ready, and Square Enix guys are not known for failures.

  • @edirhC

Deus Ex 3 is being developed by a developer who is home in consoles. So if the trend continues this one will actually be worse. But I am quite sure that Deus Ex 2's percieved failiness has nothing to do with multi platfrom thing, and the devs of Human Revolution hired some 20 extra programmers to get the PC version right. So even if multiplatformness is bad for gaming, they compensated for it :). But I am a positive man: The only problem I have with DE3 is that I can not afford it.

  • @JoshuatheKodiak

DE2 failed because it was simplified for better use on consoles... (Yes, the early multi platform games were unspeakably horrible because of oversimplification) And yes, I also believe that Human Revolution will succeed as a multi platform game.

  • @edirhC

One of the things that shows that DX3 is going to be great is that the graphic options are fully configurable ingame.

  • @edirhC I obviously meant "great on PC"

  • @edirhC I have seen the leaked beta on youtube. It plays just like Deus Ex.

  • @leauxbert He was talking about Deus Ex II - Invisible War, not Deus Ex III - Human Revolution

  • @edirhC (still very much playable and enjoyable today)

Thanks to the great Unreal engine. These kind of well built game engines still work perfectly no matter how Windows versions come and go.

You can still set widescreen up on a game that was made 11 years ago, that's something...

I bet you can still run Quake 2 on Windows7 without issues, just like Unreal engine games.

  • @SzFeri82 You can.

  • @SzFeri82 Quake 2 needs some work to get it working in 3D accelerated mode. Unreal engine games don't require even that.

Though I played around a bit and got Quake 2 working on my HTC, performing at 16 - 35 fps...

What I meant by playable and enjoyable is that the gameplay isn't brought down much by the (obviously) outdated graphics.

  • This game is the best and some people that i know don't like because of the graphics and i don't understand them because when u buy a game u look if the graphics are cool or of the storyline

  • Ahhh, it feels soooo GOOD

  • I played this game when I was quite aonly a child, than, there was a hole in my life where I did not played this game, when I played it again, I cryied, awesome song ever!

  • I believe this is the best PC game ever made, while many may argue, but no other game has had me coming back to it every time I stumble upon the games music or hear the sentence "Deus ex Machina" somewhere else.

Just....YOU KNOW. No words to explain how good it is. I laugh at those who say "but look at the graphics"... God damn, look past the graphics and in my mind it is better than System Shock.

  • I may not share your sentiments on it being the greatest game ever, but I must admit that hearing the theme song also makes me feel like playing the game again.

  • ehh who says systemshock 2 is better?????

pff infidels. deus ex is the best!

  • I agree with MikeIAmO. I think DX is a special game that certainly wrote it's place into gaming history. The more I compare the old games with the latest ones, the more I realise the new games have just lost the fun factor. Most of the stuff is all about graphics and effects. But almost no game has such an interesting story, action-influenced gameplay where your actions actually have consequences and multi-path maps.

    Long live Deus Ex. :)

  • Good sir, I agree with everything you just said there.

  • @MikeIAmO Great comment. System Shock 2 was better gameplay wise, but Deus Ex had better protagonist and story.

  • @MikeIAmO Amen Brother!

  • @MikeIAmO

Did it ever seem strange to you that Deus Ex's only real flaw was graphic design, but people dismiss it in favor of games with more flaws than enemy types?

  • @FrostbittenWolf Well, to be honest, I am not into PC gaming, I'm more of the NES/PS1&2 -people, so graphics have never struck a cord for me unless they play an important aspect in the gameplay. Then I got Deus Ex and after that Thief II from my ex and these are still the go-to games for my PC gaming. You just can't replace mood and visible "texture" of a game with pretty graphics. Deus Ex is one of the few hallmarks (such as FF VII) that I always wish I could play again for the FIRST time.

  • @MikeIAmO Ok I love Deus Ex and I was with you all the way, but why bring up fucking System Shock, probably the most UNDERrated game of all time? Seriously man, talk shit about Doom or Quake or Half Life or some other groupie shooter that the masses humped the shit out of, leave System Shock out of it.

  • @Adeon55 You got some anger management issues? Or simply failed your reading comprehension tests in your public school years?

Read that last sentence again carefully, and maybe...just maybe you'll realize that I love System Shock. I had no idea it's even underrated, but still I recommend that you get your head checked, you seem to snap a bit too easily at misread Internet commentary, what are you like in real life?

  • @MikeIAmO I gave you a pointed suggestion, using the same language you did, and you turn around with almost nothing but ad hominem attacks, and questions of personal character of a random Internet commenter.

    Who needs anger management?

As for the small bit that wasn't a personal attack, you only validated the purpose of my suggestion. Two minutes worth of research could prevent you from constructing such a sentence brimming with ignorance.

  • @Adeon55 Okay, so I'm guessing you mean that the fact the game is underrated and I have not noticed this makes me ignorant. Fine, have it your way. I just don't know what your problem is here.

After finding out Deus Ex, my ex introduced me toThief and the TTLG forums, and so, System Shocks as well. I guess I haven't seen anything but good and legendary things being said about SS games. Even then, I didn't say anything bad about SS, but acknowledged its fame and how DE trumps EVEN System Shock.

  • @MikeIA I see the problem, your only knowledge of System Shock perception came late, and from the System Shock fanboy forum. :P I used to frequent it long ago, myself. But where else do you see it brought up? The problem is you "acknowledged its fame", however SS is not famous outside of game critic circles, the few who pay attention to game reviews en masse, and the few who played it. Yes, it was critically revered, but the underrated part comes in with the lackluster, disappointing sales(cont)

  • it had, contributing to Looking Glass' downfall. Both SS1 and SS2 were sadly overshadowed by the hype of gratuitous shoot-em-ups at their respective releases. Despite all the rave reviews, SS2 was largely ignored and barely broke even financially. At least DE was recognized by the gaming public. If you want hard numbers to illustrate this, System Shock sold 170k copies, and its sequel sold even less. Whereas DE sold over a million copies. And despite it not even holding a candle to DE (cont)

  • its injustice of a sequel was quickly snatched up, selling even more than that (hopefully DE3 will properly deliver).

The other thing I was referring to was your remark implied that SS, unlike DE, was partly held in high regard due to its superior GRAPHICS, which has absolutely no basis in reality since Looking Glass games were always noted as being behind the curve graphically (also factoring into their game's relative lack of popularity / sales). (cont)

  • DE came out after SS2 and had better graphics than it, so that part of your remark is at best confusing, if not mind-boggling.

Sorry for the length of this, but hopefully you might see why I took issue with it.

  • @Adeon55 I think the issue here is that you took issue when I was praising two great games. Sorry, but you sound like a game hipster by saying that my perception of SS came late. By saying look past the graphics, I just meant that it is even better in my mind than the revered SS games. Nothing more, nothing less.

But I digress, no more Internet arguing from my side. I love Deus Ex and I love System Shock, I couldn't give a rat's ass what people say about 'em as long as I know I do.

  • @MikeIAmO Lol, game hipster? That's a new one. I'm a gamer who happens to be well-acquainted with Looking Glass + Ion Storm Austin games, and how they were received.

"By saying look past the graphics, I just meant that it is even better in my mind than the revered SS games"

But the 'revered SS games' did NOT have remarkable graphics, and were not revered for their graphics in any way, shape or form. Deus Ex had BETTER graphics than SS 1 and 2, so what then is the point of that statement?

  • @Adeon55 They can be fairly compared as they both had poor graphics for their time but were widely praised for their exceptional gameplay.

And when he fairly compares them Deus Ex comes up top.

It's the best game in the history of the world ever so it makes sense.

  • @EmoHaterUK "They can be fairly compared as they both had poor graphics for their time but were widely praised for their exceptional gameplay."

One was bought, and one was not. It's like picking on the red-headed stepchild. I reiterate, if you want to say Deus Ex is better than X, pick a target that people can relate to. Most people here have never played System Shock, so they see that remark and say "Uh, well I loved Deus Ex.. don't really know much of that other game, so he's probably right".

  • Also, your assertion that Deus Ex had 'poor' graphics for its time is simply untrue. It used the Unreal engine, like many games before and after it had done, as it was very well polished. It was not revolutionary in 2000, but by no means a drawback.

  • @Adeon55

People who have not played System Shock obviously have no right to judge it's worth against other games. Those who have, may. And in this persons particular opinion DX came up top.

I have played both, both are excellent, but my favourite is DX.

Take it up with the fools that judge games without playing them if this is your problem.

Again with the graphics, if I compare DX to other games I played that year, Diablo 2, FF IX, Smackdown 2, AOE 2. It's not as good, Same as SS2.

  • @EmoHaterUK I'm shocked you mentioned Diablo 2 and AOE 2. If you seriously believe Deus Ex's graphics were "not as good" as isometric 2d games with sprites, you may need to get yourself to an optometrist, on the double. :P

Most likely it's just your memory that's a bit off though, or you played DX on a poor system with all the display options at absolute minimum levels (and even then...).

  • @Adeon55 I still own all these games (DX included) and still play them on my current computer, all on full graphics. They look a lot prettier than DX.

You have to remember were talking about aesthetics - not technological level. If one uses superior technology it doesn't mean the result is automatically better. Is a picture drawn in photoshop better than one drawn with a pencil?

Eg. I think Borderlands had better graphics than Crysis.

  • @EmoHaterUK There's a vast difference between good graphics that are purposefully stylized in a unique way (ie Borderlands), and simply inferior rendering (ie 2d sprites vs 3d hardware acceleration). Diablo 2 and Age of Empires 2 did not have better graphics than Deus Ex. Respectfully, it's a point that's not really up for discussion. You can say, in your opinion, you thought Diablo's graphics were cuter. You're also welcome to say you personally prefer a more "classic" look to your games.(cont)

  • However, you cannot cogently claim that Diablo 2's graphics were superior to Deus Ex. Otherwise, you could just as well say Diablo 2 had better graphics than Crysis. Starcraft had better graphics than Homeworld. The Legend of Zelda had better graphics than Zelda: Twilight Princess. Pong had better graphics than Super Mario Bros, etc.

Simply put, to ignore the technological aspect of graphics is to misunderstand the concept.

  • @Adeon55 Right if were going to be pedantic then I shall rephrase - Both had ugly graphics.

They can still be fairly compared and that was the point.

  • @MikeIAmO SHODAN disagrees... INSSEECT!

  • Btw, I always thought there was something similar to the music in Unreal Tournament and Deus Ex, especially the intro!

  • yea me too, probably jasper or rom di prisco

  • Thanks you Sweden for good quality upload!

  • After a whole 3 years of buying this game, I'm still yet to complete it.

This game defines awesomeness....wait make that LEGEND

  • The game that is forever best.

    This is it.

  • The main cover of the cd almost sums up the game... you have JC in the middle, looking up to this sort of light in the sky, as if for guidance... and all around him you see the city, the choppers, the commotion..

  • I am playing the game right now... Just got the triads together.. now I gotta go back to MJ12 labs... one kick ass game!

  • This music brings back all those good memories.

  • Finished this game 14 times. Only hearing the music brings back fond memories. Andos shivers down my spine.

Greatest Game Ever. One of those games were you weren't treated as a retard, unlike 99% of what's there nowadays.

Unfortunately, Deus Ex 3 is gonna be crap.

  • I dont think so, it is surely going to be better than Deus Ex 2... But yeah, Deus Ex is one of the greatest games I have ever played.

  • No sequel can live up to Deus Ex unless something amazing happens. Maybe they should have just made the one game and not allowed it to be tainted with Invisible War.

  • i love the deus ex series (which are only two games as for now)

played each one the moment they hit release...

i abdolutly LOVED deus ex... it was fucking fantastic... best made ever if you ask me,

playing Deus ex invisible war felt like a step backwards in terms of gameplay... what no hacking puzzles? :D blah! of course its only a small fraction as to why its a step backwards..

i just recently heard of deus ex 3 believe it or not. what do you know that makes you say its gonna be crap?

  • Deus ex is just awesome!!

Awesome scenario, Kick-Ass Gameplay, Great Soundtracks...

    A LEGEND!

I don't know about Deus Ex 3, but as long as it comes to PC and Eidos Keeps an Idea similar to the first. It's gonna be an Awesome Sequel!

  • Best game ever made.

  • The kind of " best game ever " which beats the crap out of any other video game and especially those recent pieces of junk we're dealing with nowadays..

Deus Ex is merely among THE apogee in the history of video game ..

A deep and well-thought storyline , based on reality with thoughtful and charismatic characters , a sad and mysterious music linked with an overwhelming atmosphere .. An inventive gameplay which compensates for graphics , a game dwelling in spirit rather than graphics.

    BRAVO !

  • i copletely agree with you.

  • BEST. GAME. EVER.

  • I actually prefer this to the PS2's semi-orchestral version. Probably just nostalgia though really.

  • great theme, and this surely is the best game ever made...it's simply wonderful

  • nice conversation both.

    thanks for posting though :)

  • No problem. :)

  • hahah

  • OST

  • What?

  • Original

    Sound

    Track

i should have made that clearer :(

  • Ah.

    No worries.
