There cannot be a independent Kashmir. An independent Kashmir will be taken over by either Pakistan or China. And that would have security implications for India. Also there is the question of access to river water. The lives of 1 billion Indians cannot be held hostage to a view that divides the world into believers and kaffirs. India cannot give up the parts of Kashmir it holds now. The Kashmirs better get used to that.
