  • Loved every moment of this when I was nine! When I saw it recently I was surprised at how fake everything looked. But it's still better than the cheap CGI of some recent films!

  • Iwontconform: youre not ignorant, youre just a prejudiced POS.

  • the fire breathing ruined it for me

  • caroline munro is why we need to stop this race-mixing shit.Otherwise,we`ll have nothing but halle berry types to look at

  • @IwontConform Wow, what an ignorant statement

  • @mercurymadhatter NO,its a true statement. And i want to see white beauty around for a long time.I am tired of governments promoting race-mixing to produce a honey brown population

  • You know this was before star wars.did George inspire or get inspired?

  • I think this was a later Hammer film. In any event the special effects were ghastly. However, Caroline Munro is always worth seeing in anything!

  • Great films to watch when you're drunk and full of pizza

  • haha

  • Caroline Munro is the only reason to watch this disaster. Coincidentally , I too am nourished by the flesh of sacrificial maidens...

  • @subliteral I believe that's "Starcrash" you're describing. That was certainly a dark hour for all involved: Munro, Christopher Plummer, David Hasselfhoff, Joe Spinelli, et al.

IMNSHO this was the best of Amicus' three Edgar Rice Burroughs adaptations (the most fun and least depressing), and certainly the best of the four Amicus films to star Doug McClure.

  • @subliteral BTW, if you want a REALLY bad film to watch that has only a PAIR of good reasons for watching it, I recommend "The Warrior and the Sorceress" with David Carradine and Maria Socas as the TITular Sorceress. Yes, w/o the presence of Ms. Socas THAT film would've been all but watchable...

  • Caroline Munro was HOT!!!!'n

  • They didn't have graphics back then in 1976 for film babymaker. this stuff although pretty bad , was all made with hard to imagin..... Hands.

  • Yes, Doug was in Out of This World, but he is most famous for his role of Trampas in the long running (1962-71) western The Virginian now running on Encore Westerns.

  • Doug McClure is the man! They don't make em like him anymore!

  • Now, you'd think a movie with Doug McClure, Peter Cushing, Caroline Munro, and dinosaurs would be the epitome of epic but....

Aw hell it's still a lot of fun.

  • Doug McClure is the man! And so is Peter Cushing! This movie is great!

  • my dad is in this film he is bobby parr

  • I particularly liked the giant exploding toad!

Loved these films when I was a kid.

  • This movie was 15 to 20 years to late....

  • 2:50 Respected actor Peter Cushing covers his eyes in horror at standard of acting and "Monster." costumes.

  • what a piece of fee-o...

  • did they anew the core is a metall ball when they did this

  • Any movie that has exploding frogs is cool.

  • Exploding toad FTW

  • Exploding Dinosaurs and Caroline Munro, what a movie!

  • I remember this old film. I was a child then, but it still has some entertaining aspects even now. LOL!

  • I love these old movies :)

  • This is like a 3rd Dr Who movie Peter Cushing is playing the same role.

  • @waulrus68 yes, i like to think Peter Cushing's character was actually the movie Dr Who taking some kind of gap year in the 19th century

  • I remember talking my older brother into taking me to see this. Peter Cushing rules!

  • Fire breathing monsters explode when they hit something at a high velocity?

  • Still never a decent movie made on any Burroughs novel yet.

    98 years and waiting...

  • Tarzan-the Legend of Greystoke wasn't bad...

  • Did people still not know by 1976 that the core was magma?

  • nobody knew anything in the 70's.

but you're wrong too! The earth's core is liquid iron, magma is just the layer directly below the crust.

  • this movie desnt get enough credit

heldover 2 weeks at the northgate

  • Never seen a Doug McClure movie I didn't like.

  • now who would have thought that there would be pretty girls 10000 feet down? and so easy to get

  • Well at least its more scientifically accurate than the core

  • "a primeval nightmaremare world, who's shadows hid the nameless terros which were yet to come." OH NO! A GUY IN A SHITTY BIRD/DINOSAUR COSTUME! RUN!!!

  • Anything with Doug McClure is awesome!!

  • Was he not the mayor in the ol "Out of this World" serial?

    O_O

  • @Deathdealeus1984 Would you happen to know where I can find interviews with Doug Mcclure?

  • This is a proper old monster movie . The monsters may be dubious but Id much sooner have "proper" monsters like this than CGI. Also , Gak was played by Godfrey James , better known to Emmerdale fans as Harry Mowlem.

  • At 1:42 it was a nice touch to have the dinasaur thing explode when it hit the ground. Now, I'm not one to indulge in conspiracy theories, but if you watch closely, it explodes just prior to hitting the ground. It makes you wonder if, just maybe, it was a controlled explosion.

  • Sup Reddit

  • nothing much, just chillin' you?

    -Reddit

  • But it does have the gorgeous Caroline Munro !!! (and she still looks good today, great actress)

  • @jeanniedee Yes she is, I met her at a James Bond convention last year and she said Doug was a lovely man to work with.

  • graphics back then were really shitty

  • This came out in 1976, one year before Star Wars but it looks like it was made in the early 60's.

  • Star Wars really changed the playing field for Sci-Fi movies. People began to expect more from the F/X than they had in the past.

  • @babymaker16 Actually they were pretty decent. Why don't you try do that 30 years ago?

  • @babymaker16 True, but the films back then had a story. Today's films are mostly just paper thin and have no substance whatsoever. I'm 24 and would rate films like At the Earth's Core, Zulu and Jason and the Argonauts as being a million times better than the vast majority of today's films.

  • @babymaker16 Better than CG.

  • @babymaker16 And monsters were cooler looking.

  • @babymaker16 They were practical FX not graphics.
