Arguing semantics. Oasis is just a name, but the band is WITH Noel Gallagher as the primary band leader and song-writer. Even if Liam fronted it with Tony and Bonehead and Guigs, they've all left or were fired. Coz he needed a band to have his own songs played. Wouldn't have made it on his own and at that time probably didn't have the money to hire session studio musicians or the contacts to form his own band anyway. I guess in the end they all benefited mutually from joining forces. Remember Noel had tried out as singer for The Inspiral Carpets and had been knocked back , I think that would have dented his ego somewhat so what better way to get back at it than join a band at the bottom.
