@musicislife26 Beloit, WI...there were actually two sets of showers, the ones down below the gym, where there was also a stage, had standing water...then there were newer locker rooms down the hall behind the stage. Funny how you remember things like this when you were only there one day maybe two in your whole life? (granted we were there in 2003 too)
I've got a question. I've been playing trumpet for the last three years in band and I want to play mellophone. How do I make it sound less trumpet like when I play? How do I hold it properly with only finger tips when marching?
Hey!! Just as an update, I did march Capital Regiment this summer and played your mello from '06! She truly was the best horn in the line, and i made sure she stayed that way!! Thanks!
So I've got a question. I have been playing tpt in high school but I want to play mellon in college this fall. Do you have any good reasons that could convince people, I don't know, like my band director or somebody? I've played it once before, for like a day and I enjoy their sound and the parts they get sometimes.
Just talk to the director. Chances are a college band needs mellos more than trumpets anyways. You should have no problem switching. The fingerings are the same as trumpet, and the mouthpiece (6v is what i recommend) is really user friendly. Good luck!
@clarimellonet ALMOST the same as trumpet. There are slight differences, but nothing crazy. That is, if youre playing a Bb mello. If youre playing an f mello its a lot different.
dude i wish i didnt live in arizona if i liver in ohio o would so do his corps but im also 13. woot their back 2009 will be awesome just because of this corps
hay in 3 years anyone be a host pllllleeeaaaassssseeeeeeee
Case number 4, serial number ends in ..131. Take care of her, she's the only one that didn't get dented or scratched the three years I had her...and I'd like to see her the same way in Columbus at the homeshow.
um... maybe a musician wouldnt but a MARCHING musician with specific counts and moves to make WOULD. It was obviously an 8 count move and he was counting into the halt.
Thats a lot harder... if its a 22 count move you have to count to 4 5 times and then to 2. Who would rather remember how many times you have counted to four than to count to 22...
Watching this makes me sad knowing that when I finally have time to play mellophone for any drum corps, I've finally aged out this year. Thanks for taking the vid. Its awesome.
Now Watching This . I was Thinking It's Not About Being The Best In DCI . cuz all the corps are great . && capital regiment is coming bck this year . YAHH !!
That was awesome. Talk about exposing your skills to the world - this took some guts to post, but you did a great job. Maybe DCI will follow your lead and add this to the broadcast. Again . . .great job!
I agree. But when you are just focusing on marching, its easy to forget about your fingers. Then when you go back to playing they snap back up. At least when I play.
Thomas i didnt know you did this! This is sweet, and unlike contra cam...i actually made the video (since youre high brass and all). Sweet job. I miss drum corps...
What mouthpiece were you using?

(Psst! Sorry, Ryan. This wasn't the mello-cam vid that I watched when you mentioned it, lol. I just found this one today.)

5, 6, 7, 8 are set counts - he wasn't counting quarter notes. You don't subdivide set counts. Because, um, that wouldn't make sense.
