The argument also suffers from the A is linked to B and B is linked to C and therefore A must be linked to C fallacy. It's not logically necessary - a "Venn diagram" with three circles - one for A, B, and C, shows that the circles could all overlap with parts being common and parts being unique (or common to two of the three areas).
