I love the metroid games but the gameplay looks bad... Why isnt the reticle centered at all times, then you wouldnt have to aim off screen when you want to turn around

He played on weird controls because you CAN just play with the reticile near the center with different control options. He played on Basic control. There's 3 types. Basic (Low), Intermediate (Medium), and Advanced (High).
Metroid 3 has, hands down, one of the best art designs I've ever seen in gaming in my 25 years playing videogames. The music goes so well alongside planet Elysia's and Bryyo's settings that I still feel very especial whenever I get to see footage of those places - or get to play through 'em again myself. Amazing and sublime. Retro Studios (and game developers in general) at their best.
sorry I am not sure but I do know you could play prime with the cube controller so I would imagine its the same for 3 with it being a hard, and time consuming game.
I've been playing M C for alittle over a week now, and man, the game is a challenge, for sure. Patience is the key here.
When I was a teenager, I crashed a party and took my Nintendo to the basement with the Original Metroid and new wireless remote = (which drank the battery juice, too fast.) Within a half hour, the basement was filled with people.
This game takes me back.
(Oh, and I ended up getting a nice ride home from a girl I met there. :)
I haven't played metroid other m, but from the reviews I've read it only has 10 hours of gameplay? Are they going to make another massive game like the ones in the gamecube/wii trilogy?
@ilikebumfluff you do realise none of those games is single player oriented either (except bioshock infinite and I want you to explain why you don't want it)? I meant the single player oriented games you were going to buy but were afraid in being disappointed with.
@ilikebumfluff 1% of the thousands of levels made is actually an alright amount. And also we are detracting from the point here, which is that there are a lot of fantastic single player games this generation, you just have to go look for them and then play them.
@ilikebumfluff LBP didn't need a great campaign. The best part of the experience was playing on other people's levels, which could be done by yourself and thus qualifies as a single-player experience.

Yes a single player experience does come down to opinion, but that's what i'm saying, the fact that you don't appreciate certain single player experiences that most others do may just mean you prefer multiplayer games.

@ilikebumfluff personally i see games such as the one's you mentioned (excluding kz :P) as exuding lots of charm, particularly since i've played mario, zelda and metroid a lot. I've always wanted to play assassin's creed and LBP as well. Bioshock is fantastic, so is portal. You can't really say a game lacks charm until you've played it. To be honest I was MASSIVELY skeptical about Bioshock until I've played it.

1) The increasing commercialisation of games. Games nowadays are increasingly being made to make money, rather than to make a good quality game. Its led to more piss poor shovelware or generic clones of other games
2) A focus on graphics rather than gameplay.
3) As a kid, you may not have been as picky as you are now
4) Games are easier nowadays, removing from a sense of accomplishment and attachment when you finish.
@ilikebumfluff i mean to say i thought this generation was a fantastic generation for gaming (note: I've played pretty much every generation since NES), simply because its the only one in living memory that substantially changed the way we played games. Its hard to find games in the past with the innovation of LBP and Heavy Rain, and although the latter was a hit and miss title, its innovation was undeniable. The wiimote gave us an unprecedented new way to play, same with kinect :P

@ilikebumfluff yeah have to agree. they justified it IMO this time round with the nunchuk which is a great control system, but i have a weakness for Zelda, and just looked at some video of the latest one sooo :) but if theyre not your cup of tea then yeah Nintendo is pretty much fucked!!!
@ilikebumfluff so the point i was making, if you pay more you expect more. as an overview a couple of gens down the line the xbox360 and ps3 will be remembered for a handful of games (ps3 for heavy rain, gods of war and the Uncharted series, which is awesome) and being a watered down pc, rather than the wii which revolutionised control especially on metroid and the marios and the others jumped shamelessly on the bandwagon.
@ilikebumfluff you left out the blu ray! dont get me wrong i didnt say you got shafted and even if i did that dosent matter if your happy, the point is that as a pc medium/high scale owner that easily betters both consoles in sound, video,media acessibility and playback has no reason to be jealous because you can get a few games in a kind of 1080 and sacrifices need to made as i said earlier. the cost of my pc was around 800 aud to build if i include blu ray drive so costs i expect more.....
@ilikebumfluff the ps3 might be able to play A FEW games in 1080p (although most games are 720p) but at the sacrifice of graphical quality (fuzzy=no aniso jagged lines=no anti aliasing, compromised lighting/shading effects) over a decent pc. also not all in 1920 x 1080. screentear on a lot of games .you gets what you pay for. this generation of consoles are about making the fast buck, except the wii, which made a difference.

Uncharted games (and god of war 3) are the only games near pc games in term of visuals. Some people like you think this mean the ps3 is more powerful but dont forget how big the difference is betwen 720p 30fps and 1080p 60fps.
emulator defeat the purpose of the game? I have never had so much fun on zelda majoras mask than on 1080p full speed with 16x AA and a 360 controller.
@mat967 I agree that emulators defeat the purpose of the game. Majoras Mask and Ocarina of Time were made to play with N64's controler, btw - wich feels a lot better than the xbox 360's, especially because of the z trigger.

@ilikebumfluff ps3 is almost 5 years old, they are outdated in comparison to the pc. ps3 has what... 3.2ghz? my computer is 3 years old and has over 10ghz. (quad core). Also, I run games on max setting with 1920 x 1080 resolution while you run on tv's with 1020 x fuck all.

@porman75 I dont approve what he said and he is wrong, but you are too. ps3 has a 8 core cell processor. 1 is disabled for yield purpose and another one is used for security ans OS. So it leave 6 3.2ghz core for the developpers.
But the cell perform extremely well only in certain situations....The code also need to be very well optimised for it to be as fast as it should.

The one thing that gets me alittle confused in the Metroid series is her ship in this Metroid 3, and It looks really cool. but in Echoes her ship is the classic 1 from Metroid2, and Super Metroid. So considering the "Prime" trilogy is set between Metroid 1 and Metroid 2, It kinda doesnt make sense how her ship changes kinda bk and forth lol.
I really like the "Prime" series all 3, but the first 1 is my best becus Hav 2 say even tho Metroid had been away 4 quite a while, it was still abit of a gamble changing the gamplay like they did with Prime, doing it as a 1st person style. But It worked perfectly and I admire Nintendo for doing that. I only wish they wud do more "Sophisticated" games on the wii, becus they hav shown they can do it. Once with Perfect Dark, and now Metroid is really Nintendo's kinda Halo even lol.

The Metroid Prime series requires a lot more intelligence than any other shooter out there, anyone who has played through your standard fps and metroid will tell you this as a fact. It is far more difficult than other fps's as well, considering that many critics found it so hard as to rate the games down for it. The wii has the best selection of exclusives, it doesn't need a host of mediocre multi-plat titles anyway.
@triviumfr3ak Yeah, and make it co-op so you can play Dark Samus and Samus working together. Also whoever made the Metroid Trilogy should add versus mode and online multiplayer to Metroid Prime 4 (if they make Metroid Prime 4).
@dakirby222 INDEED!!! I've been playing it for the last week on hyper mode and Mogenar was a F*****G frustrating challenge. Love this game and the graphics are incredible. This game pleases me visually more than anything on the ps3 because of the art.

@twiligame Metroid has been my favorite series since the NES. I bought a wii just to play this game. But its a mediocre game. Since when does samus take orders and not work alone? And whats with the pixel hunts? The graphics are not much better than the gamecube. And the most challenging aspect of the game is getting used to garbage controllers not meant for these types of games.

@twiligame I said its difficult to get used to. Its very easy to use. No more skill involved in the grappling beam for example. Why? because it would be impossible on a wiimote. No more changing missiles/beams on the fly, no more visors, no more boost ball, no moving in 1st person, basically no more features and equipment that require more buttons. Everything is done for you automatically instead. Being "good" at Other M would be a paradox.

@twiligame I'm not a prime fan, i'm a super metroid fan. SM had all of those features(minus the 1st person). Remember when walljumps and grapples actually required skill, when there was a sprint button, when samus' movements weren't automated? You were responsible for 100% of samus' movement, which was all made possible because there were enough buttons on the controller.

Nintendo has a very few good games like SWs & metroid primes & redsteels etc but by far metroid prime 3 is the best game on wii after Super mario galaxy 2
Pc wins graphics, quality games, A HUGE librairy of games and portability (Laptop), the only battle consles win are the prices....... For consles, my order is: Wii (Wins all), Ps3 (just awsome!), and Xbox360 (dont really know anything to say for this)

@ilikebumfluff ps3 is almost 5 years old, they are outdated in comparison to the pc. ps3 has what... 3.2ghz? my computer is 3 years old and has over 10ghz. (quad core). Also, I run games on max setting with 1920 x 1080 resolution while you run on tv's with 1020 x fuck all.

@porman75 I dont approve what he said and he is wrong, but you are too. ps3 has a 8 core cell processor. 1 is disabled for yield purpose and another one is used for security ans OS. So it leave 6 3.2ghz core for the developpers.
But the cell perform extremely well only in certain situations....The code also need to be very well optimised for it to be as fast as it should.

The one thing that gets me alittle confused in the Metroid series is her ship in this Metroid 3, and It looks really cool. but in Echoes her ship is the classic 1 from Metroid2, and Super Metroid. So considering the "Prime" trilogy is set between Metroid 1 and Metroid 2, It kinda doesnt make sense how her ship changes kinda bk and forth lol.

I really like the "Prime" series all 3, but the first 1 is my best becus Hav 2 say even tho Metroid had been away 4 quite a while, it was still abit of a gamble changing the gamplay like they did with Prime, doing it as a 1st person style. But It worked perfectly and I admire Nintendo for doing that. I only wish they wud do more "Sophisticated" games on the wii, becus they hav shown they can do it. Once with Perfect Dark, and now Metroid is really Nintendo's kinda Halo even lol.

See if only "wii" wud realize they need to get in2 more serious games and cant keep focusing solely on the whole "Family/party" gamers, cus thats not gonna keep them afloat. Nintendo need to make more of a variety of games that appeal to ALL areas of the gaming community.

I admit they've been quite unlucky over the years, had their Disc format Idea stolen by Sony, and one of their biggest games bought off them PD by Microsoft lol. The wii did good at first, and everyone was luving the revolutionary Idea, but now that the novelty has ran out, and now that others have caught up with them with their Idea, even Improved it, they've slipped dwn now.

@ilikebumfluff pc gamers do not hate ps3. A few fanboys do but equally, there's ps3 fanboys who hate the pc. fanboyism is on both sides, to narrow it down to 'pc gamers hate ps3 the most' is grossly inaccurate. Not only that, but in my view ps3 and 360 are by far worse.

The Metroid Prime series requires a lot more intelligence than any other shooter out there, anyone who has played through your standard fps and metroid will tell you this as a fact. It is far more difficult than other fps's as well, considering that many critics found it so hard as to rate the games down for it. The wii has the best selection of exclusives, it doesn't need a host of mediocre multi-plat titles anyway.

@twiligame Metroid has been my favorite series since the NES. I bought a wii just to play this game. But its a mediocre game. Since when does samus take orders and not work alone? And whats with the pixel hunts? The graphics are not much better than the gamecube. And the most challenging aspect of the game is getting used to garbage controllers not meant for these types of games.

@twiligame I said its difficult to get used to. Its very easy to use. No more skill involved in the grappling beam for example. Why? because it would be impossible on a wiimote. No more changing missiles/beams on the fly, no more visors, no more boost ball, no moving in 1st person, basically no more features and equipment that require more buttons. Everything is done for you automatically instead. Being "good" at Other M would be a paradox.

@twiligame I'm not a prime fan, i'm a super metroid fan. SM had all of those features(minus the 1st person). Remember when walljumps and grapples actually required skill, when there was a sprint button, when samus' movements weren't automated? You were responsible for 100% of samus' movement, which was all made possible because there were enough buttons on the controller.

beams sucked in this game. not cause they were stacked, but the next beam you get doesnt seem much stronger than the last, mainly for killing little tiny things... Pirates= oh better use hyper.... and they're done... just like that.. remember in prime 1 you finally get the plasma, after forever then can just run around, enjoying being super badass crushin fools

THERE ARE NO SUPER MISILES FOR THE ACID AND PLASMA BEAM ! tht's absolutely HORRIBLE! there arent seeker missiles and there are no suits for Aran :( just the stupid PED shitty "suit"
