Sweet fucking Jesus! I love Pinkerton. Best Weezer album. One of the best albums, period. But this is just so... awesome. Songs From the Black Hole truly is to my generation what Smile was like for the decades preceding. This is pop, it's rock, it's heart and soul, it's catchy, fun, and melancholy all at once. I can only imagine how SFTBH would compare to Pinkerton, but I've got a damn good imagination. I want this to be an album!

@ethansloan According to Cuomo in a chat room, the reason he didn't release it is because of the album Return of the rentals. It sounded too similar apparently. Anyway, Pinkerton is one of my favorite albums ever and it likely never would have been made if SFTBH hadn't been scrapped so personally I am extremely glad things turned out the way they did.

@bobbydowns Matt Sharp didn't write any of the songs. The songs are pretty much done when Rivers shows them off. Matt Sharp isn't a more talented bass player than Mikey or Scott. The fact that he left right as weezer started to go "downhill" was just a coincidence. The major factor in the change in weezer was the huge effect the negative reception Pinkerton got influencing Rivers' writing. Green album was an attempt to get back to Blue.
