  • Both of them are so cute! I love their reviews. Very sweet and refreshing at the same time. :)

  • I think that the movie is good but people get the impreshion that whole india is like this....and it´s not.

I think that you can´t compaire india whith an western way of thinking .it´s strage for westners because they have very mutch material and no warmth or humanity .you have to see that indians find that realy strange because there might be people who don´t have so much material but they are happy the are close to the earth, nature.in india you can´t get dipression and stuff. here you can

  • Bombay isn't Bombay anymore it's Mumbai.

  • Glad that 'Joy' won the Oscar

  • god bless the couple and their honest judgment.

  • As an Indian I must say we just learn from life more than anything else and the best lesson we learn from life is "Jugaad Management".

  • I saw this movie in HD quality for free at hdmovienation . com

  • you guys are so funny i love love love you both. pleaseeeeeee post more review!!

  • u guys r funny. and that was an amazing movie!

  • they changed the name after the indian mafia bombings all over the city.

  • i m from india.....words of wisdom from the elderly.......the best review so far.....thanks.......!!

  • mumbai and bombay are the same place. it's the city with two names :)

  • Mumbai used to be called Bombay. It became Mumbai in the mid 90s, so the events in the early part of the movie took place in Bombay. So get your facts straight.

  • This couple is very cute. I hope they live for 100 years !

  • that was an awesome review.

  • these great folks should be on TV, best films reviews on the net by far

  • i thought these old peoples was a joke..its not.

  • and it's a wonderful review...

  • great sound quality

  • My favourite reviewers - and oh yes this movie is fantastic!

(A Review tip: Swedish flick "Let the right one in" is also brilliant)

  • DONT WATCH IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT

they are right about the films beauty being in its humanity, great moving film

  • This film was astounding in every aspect. I strongly recommend it to all. 8 Oscars says it all.

  • madam your judgement is not clouded ..its now proved as Slumdog Millionaire has won Oscars. Good review.

I agree that this movie can touch hearts universally because it is again about chasing love and money.

  • lol, good prediction marcia, lorenzo got schooooooooooooled

  • Love your review Geezers. Exellent stuff. Keep up the good work.

  • SHOULD SLUMDOG MAKE PEOPLE RICH?

    /watch?v=tzecbXQX8Ok

  • nicely said folks:)

  • Marcia was right, Lorenzo!

  • That was nice. you sir and lady are great.

Thank you for your honest words.

  • I had to come back to this review & say congrats to Marcia. Wow...you really called it way before all the hype & awards & buzz...you saw how good it really was. Good job! :)

  • another really good video by the both of you. cant say i was as blown away by this film, it was good but not best picture worthy. i would nominate it for best picture, but so far my vote goes toward the curious case of benjamin button

  • i love this movie, this is a very great film

  • "the movie is a slam dunk." hahahahaha

  • Good review. They pointed out some negatives like the graphical details of the movie. They also positives about how this movie can be an inspirational one.

  • this is one of the few reviews of theres i agree with except i thought they gave away to many spoilers.

  • Story is inspired from Ramayan.

  • ha ha ha ha

  • It was a great movie. Danny Boyle is an AMAZING director. I really like your review on the movie. I'm with the "Reel Geezers" 110%. Its great to see an older generations opinion of a movie like this.

  • they're wrong. he doesn't think he's gonna buy her with the money he wins on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. He wants her to see him on tv.

  • The movie is indeed a joy. Well done indeed.

  • check this video on youtube .. watch?v=loxV8R6cY4I&NR=1 .. thz our India... energy of over a billion ppl.. abt to explode.. itz a bottle of champagne abt to explode... u dont want to be in path of its cork... so stereotypical intellectuals... backoff

  • saw the movie; paints highly -ve pic abt India, creates an impression amngst westerners that India is just abt slums, monsters harrassing the poor. Well guys I agree not the best place on earth. but has some of the better thngs.. ppl r definitely good, helpful & sympathetic twds d poor.. its just that the GOI started doing the right things at the macro level late in the game. 10 more years of consistent growth n we may no longer hv anythng to look twds u guys!

  • Nice movie but our every other movie is just like this. Just becoz it is a Doyle's movie it is not suppose to get 10 nominations. I will rather say that TZP should get 20 nominations then.

    Megha

  • Good and a much deeper review.Jamal's decision to choose the other answer than the one written on wall was just to be truthful.

Never in the show Jamal was worried about winning the show because his ultimate purpose was to be on TV so that Latika can actually see him and can come to him. Nowhere he made a plan to use that big money for saving latika.Thats why he delibarately do the truthful thing by discarding the given answer. And as destiny has it, his every step brought him closer to winning.

  • "This movie has a happy ending, but to get to that happy ending it is no yellow brick road." I couldn't have said it better, Lorenzo.

  • Wow, your reviews are much better than a lot of reviews I usually check out.

  • very nice review

  • Marcia asks a good question about a key scene: why does Jamal chose D and not B after the host feeds him the 'answer'?

  • Because he's smart enough to know that a**hole host didn't want him to win & he'd never "give" him the real answer.

  • I don't know, I think its because he didn't want to be a cheater and actually wanted to lose. He looked so surprised when he got the question right.

  • Slumdog has a lot going for it but come on! It's peopled with paper thin characters. Take the girl - she's a blank slate. We know almost nothing about her and care even less. The framing device soon wears thin, and how come the order of the questions miraculously matches the chronology of Jamal's life? The Slumdog world is pure pantomime, which is fine if you're in the mood, but you won't get anything more than one-dimensional characters and a "they all lived happily ever after" conclusion.

  • i'm guessing you prefer the dark knight?

  • Not a fan of either but I'd plump for the upbeat fantasy of Slumdog over the relentlessy miserable Dark Knight. The Joker was brilliant though, as was the host in Slumdog.

  • Great review guys!!

  • I've also listened to several reviews of this movie, and I have to say this is the best I've listened to.

  • BEST review i have seen for the movie so far, excellent. LMAO @ the last comment to.

  • I really liked watching your review! I saw the movie a few weeks ago and absolutely adored it at well. You really captured what makes the movie special.

(Also, I think the Wonderful Life comparison at the end is a great one--my Dad is a Frank Capra fan so we watch that movie every year for Christmas, and both movies really go down to the depths of despair before having wonderfully triumphant finales.)

  • Who are these two old dears! This is probably one of the best review of a movie I have ever seen.

  • Wow...Marcia really called this one! It hasn't won (or, even been nominated) yet, but it's certainly the frontrunner & the one to beat at this point!

  • Brilliant and wise commentary that is shared succinctly and at a nice slow pace.

  • Boy Marcia, did you call it or what! Have not seen

slumdog Millionaire yet but have heard only good things. Last night while watching the golden Globes all I could think of was your prediction. Bravo!!! Go Geezers!!!!

  • Yup.

    >>> "Absolutely will be nominated in every major category. An Oscar sweep is not out of the question."

  • I guess I didn't really think about the whole love and money theme...but yea the way the movie ends with both brothers shows the different things that drive them.

  • There is one thing you didn't mention, how he was on the show because she watches the show, and that was one mean for her to find him.

  • Terrific review! Extremely well put. Love you, reelgeezers!

  • its a kool movie ...i myself haven;t seen a mix of music done so good wit a storyline ..thats just heart-pounding

  • you are missing the point. this is not your "average indian movie"...its not an export of bollywood, nor is it produced by an indian director.

bollywood industry can learn from this movie...you dont need beefed up bollywood macho men, a plethora of dancing and vibrant colours to make a good movie...ask danny boyle :)

  • SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE-It is a real good movie, ofcourse made for the global audience. But back here in india the movie didnt click with the general audience. The reason being the film just shows what real India is all about. It is just like holding a mirror to the audience and showing back what we see. But yes i did enjoy the movie, a slumdog becoming a millionaire and the happy ending of Jamal and Latika. And this is not a bollywood movie. An Oscar worthy movie definitely.

  • The film hasn't released in India yet. India will only see it in late January.

  • Yep the movie is not out yet but I predict it would make good money in the metros but then its not a bollywood movie its a hollywood production by a British director filmed and screenplayed in India.

  • I just saw this film tonight and it was great! Yes, it has some tough content, but it is a well done film. Definitely buying this on DVD

  • Absolutely will be nominated in every major category. An Oscar sweep is not out of the question.

  • I agree with Marcia...Oscar¡

  • *speechless* that was me after watching this movie.

  • 1) just saw it tonight. Decided not to watch your review until afterward. Wise decision. It's so nice to see a film you don't know too much about.

    2) LOVED IT! but missed some of the dialogue - probably due to accents and pace of dialogue

    3) Here's HOPING for an Oscar!!

    4) I realize you don't like It's A Wonderful Life - so your reaction was funny.

    5) To those who haven't seen it yet...DEFINITELY go see this one!

  • I really, really wish this movie would win the Golden Globes AND Oscar for Best Picture. It is definitely that awesome of a movie!!

  • I loved this movie so much. Too much running though.

  • Good review and amazing Movie do watch it

  • I saw Slumdog Millionaire today and I agree -- Best Picture candidate.

  • You are absolutely right.

  • He didn't want to buy her over with the money... he just wanted to go on the show so that Latika would see him.

  • u guys are great

  • Hahaha, Lorenzo made me laugh pretty hard at the end.

Love both of these two...honest and sincere reviews, and having seen many of the films they've reviewed, I tend to agree with them.

  • brilliant insight!! - Not since Siskel & Ebert, have I been so entertained by a film review - thank you! 5 stars!

  • There is so much love and respect between the two of you. You are true role models! My boy needs grandparents and you two fit the bill perfectly! BTW, would you do a children's film? Perhaps, you could find an international film that isn't supported by Disney or Pixar! ;-)

  • I love these kids

  • Haha, they're awesome. Good review guys. I hope you can get some more people to watch it.

  • Lorenzo and Marcia are brilliant! I love these reviews!

  • LOL at the end, Lorenzo does not like "It's a wonderful life."

  • I loved this film as well. What a film! The use of flashbacks was genius and kept me enganged through out. It's about poverty, brotherhood, redemption, growing up, etc and above all those things, love. Slumddog Millionaire is so well-made, well-crafted, and well-everything. Every film fan should check this out in theatres. I will go with Marcia and say this is the best picture as of now. Here is American dream in India.

  • meant to say "destiny". oh well... go watch the film!

  • Ditto... can't express my absolute job after watching this movie... Its Dickensian fable aura combined with perfect acting, crisp direction, tight screenplay, edge-of-the-seat excitement, awesome soundtrack and a general thrill is more than a movie buff can ask for. I see an Oscar in the sighting.

BTW, I just love Frieda Pinto, the actress. She is ACHINGLY beautiful.

  • Ha! I love Lorenzo's cynicism.

  • Sounds like a great movie. Thanks Geezers!

  • Awesome review! I'll have to check it out.

  • I'm looking forward to this movie now, based on this review. Thank you!
