  • Great video !!

  • This is a neat little layout, but there is an issue with it that drives me nuts. The track isn't painted, weathered, or ballasted. That kills any sense of realism you were going for. Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine. Otherwise, it does look nice.

  • 8:14 Dick looks like he's a chef with broccoli!

  • Fantastic!!

  • I plan to build this later in n scale and attach it to my other n layout.

  • wait, could you tell me how to make a tunnel? HELP its too late to go back, step by step, best method and i sub!

  • no ballast?

  • I didn't like that layout looked boring.... Just my opinion though.

  • Pro tips. Could save tons of time and headaches. Thanks so much!

  • I am so doing this for my Alaskan White Pass and Yukon Route layout, thanks for the tips though :)

  • how long did it take to make that

  • Text HOTMODEL to 77948

  • where can i find that layout

  • @dumbblonde537

The layout has to be built from scratch, buy the track for the layout online, it is called "The World's Greatest Hobby Track Pack". Bachmann sells it for about $125 and Kato sells one for $175 that has more realistic looking "ballast" on the track. You have to follow the step by step instructions here at Youtube to build the table and scenery. Total time to build the layout is about a month. Total cost of construction including trains, track, lumber, and scenery is about $1000.

  • Awesome

  • wow this has really helped, i will see my bachamann class 150 going trough lovely scenery yet.

  • helped me so much

  • hey, um what style ground cover did you use? coarse, fine? a mix? and what shade?

  • @terrorrname

I think first he put down fine, and then followed it up with a darker shade of a coarse turf.

  • @1991conrail thanks!

  • If The Video Buffers, Press Up, Down Left, Or Right! Snake!

  • how big should i use for a starter n scale layout. even though i am a 12 year old kid i want to build a model layout. i have recived a huge amount of trains from many companys like flieshmien which is my favorite and many more so if you know please tell me thanks

  • this looks beautifull

  • nice job

    make more vids

  • great how to. and it looks terrific.

  • That was great, have learned a lot from videos like this and going to Train Expos to see great ideas. I like how the track curves in a boomerang shape, that makes it very interesting. My table is 8' by 4', I was wondering since I have a Power Loc track that is 65" x 38", can a curve be less than 38" ? I would love to add an additional track that runs within.

  • Dammit he makes it look so easy....

  • I wish mine looked that good!

  • he is stupid

  • Great video. They make it look easy. I just made an Nscale layout but now Im gonna finish up my lionel/completely redo it. Im doing bridges and tunnels. Can't wait to see how long it will take!

  • great video... keep up the good job and the video's coming... thanks

  • Fantastic series of how-to videos. Thanks for teaching basics!

  • This looks like all Dick does with his time.

  • dick looks like he's in agony while he's building this layout

  • what kind of track do you use.

  • @LEON13858 bachmann easy track

    look at the other videos

  • i dont collect trains, im a wargamer by nature, but this video was fantastic and showed me alot of things that will help me in my next board or display piece. Thanks guys!

  • what size is the bourd

  • @samster412 8 by 4 foot

  • @samster412 8' by 4'

  • not too shabby!!! might use the foam for easy and quick access to the landscaping

  • for my rock face i used a type of sealing material and then naled it to the track and then painted it grey

  • I am going to use those rock molds by Woodland Scenics. Only on the areas that won't be covered by turf.

  • @Xenomorph237 one thing you can do is use cooking foil, wrap it into a ball then unwrap it, then apply plaster to the dull side of the foil then once it has dried, peel off the foil, and you have a rock face!

  • @brutformen Great money saving tip, thanks.

  • wonder ful series!! 10/10!!! i wish i could make the same one but inm getting a free train table/ layout.....

  • This is all so beautiful!

  • does the excess pavement just peel of easy?

  • thank you gratesst hobby

  • and follow it up with a republican amount of scenic cement

  • Dude, close your mouth or you're going to catch a fly!

  • I am considering putting Hydrocal on all exposed foam to protect it, because most likely that would be the place where the foam would end up being smashed or cracked somehow.

  • great video its helped me alot and you make it look so easy 10/10

  • @TheRunescapeHero1 it is easy, but VERY time consuming.
