Many people have tried to sing this song but nobody could do better justice than Lata Mangeshkar and even she has not been able to sing any song better than this song. The entire credit goes to Khemchand Prakash who made her sing that way.

Kamal Amrohi, Naushad Ali and Khemchndra Prakash were the main characters who brushed Lata Mangeshkar. This particular sixty years old suspense melody still keeps you warm. One of my top favourites and when ever I listen to this marvellous melody I can not endure it. I get my goose bumps.(28th July 2011)

She was very young along with Madhubala was 16 years old. And Indian
cinema was coming to its own after 200 years of British Rule. Please
Give respect to both these ladies and Ashok Kumar. All three are absolute best
in their field. I know I grew up in Bombay Sion in early 5o's
