What i did with my 1100 was uped the ram to 1gb and installed a dvd write drive and 160gb but im not stupid enough to pay for that i took it from a old laptop that i was broken
omg wow dell the 1000 looked all modern an nice and now the 1100 looks like a...boring...person...uh...threw up on it. BLUE AND GREY DO NOT MIX, DELL!
Hey, just to let you know i just put a 2.6Ghz P4 cpu inside my dell 1000, its working fine no issues, only thing i can see what it has done is under clocked the processor to 2.0Ghz, still its better than the original cpu!
The CPU in these can handle XP by a small margin, I can't imagine it liking vista at all. I'm posting from mine too btw, the only thing i've upgraded is more ram.
when mines arrived from Dell the day i took it out of the box i charged to battery to full and it also work for about 23 minutes fully charged.
i called Dell gave them my service tag number and they told me that there are no problems with this batteries and that they only work for about 30 minutes.
I have a 1000. It's a total piece of shit. Slow, bad battery. Dell sucks balls. They can shove this computer up their corporate asses. Fuck you Dell and all the little cunts who work there!
The laptop CAN be upgraded to 1280 MB by adding a 1GB 200 pin DDR SO-DIMM. The chipset supports two 1 GB memories but one is not replaceable. That allows for a maximum of 256 MB plus 1024 MB for a total of 1280 MB. I've also upgraded the 30 GB 4200 RPM drive to a 100 GB 7200 RPM drive. Before these two upgrades, the computer was so slow, even with an added 256 MB for a total of 512 MB of ram. Now it's fast, fast, fast. I plan to upgrade tge CD-RW drive for a DVD-RW I hope this information helps.
Yes it is possible, the laptop CAN be upgraded to 1.28 GB by adding a 1GB 200 pin DDR SO-DIMM PC2100. The chipset supports two 1GB memories but one is not replaceable. That allows for a maximum of 256 MB + 1 GB for a total of 1.28 GB. I've also upgraded the 30 GB 4,200 RPM drive to a 120 GB 5,400 RPM drive the hard drive does have a limitation of 129GB. Before I added the 1GB it was very slow, now it's fast, fast, fast. I hope this information helps.
