Do you or anyone know if there is a website that sell mudpuppies. I am finding it very hard to find some. I am in New York. Please email me. I would love to have one for my Science Classroom next year and this summer. Thanks!
hello bmp902. Sorry, I am not aware of any web sites that sell mud puppies. You might want to check out the local pet shops that a variety of exotic fish. Or find someone who lives on a lake :-) We find them each year when we pull out the boat lift. It has open pipes that run along the bottom of the lift. The mud puppies like to hang out in there. There were about 6 or 7 the last time we pulled out the boat lift.
i just got a couple of those from a bait shop and put one in my backyard pond and 1 in my aquarium with some guppies, do you have nemore info on how to care for them?
Hello CDK0818. We fed Spike the Mud Puppy large worms (crawlers) every few days. He would 'sneak up' on them when they were put into the tank, then suddenly go after them and eat them in about 3 gulps.
A pet shop person recommended some ''turtle bites', which were a type of pellet that has some nutritional value that he thought the mud puppy should have in addition to the worms. He said to soak them in water first.
After having Spike for 6 months, we set him free back in the lake.
