  • I wish we had cool TV shows like this in America.

  • Jesus the bassist. Is amazingly tight

  • Master musicians!

  • Unbelievable.....how many times do I have to rehearse, to remember the whole song, unless they can provide notes on a sheet, of course. Tom bassman....

  • 2m:55s grooooooooooooooooovy

  • bassist is the secret weapon of these vids!

  • wow at both the keyboardist's strange fingering techniques

  • I appreciate them much, though often sounds too overburden. (to me) I think there also can be heart a similarity to US band SPASTIC INK (?)

  • varför är jag inte förvånad över att Meshuggah finns bland förslagen brevid ^^

  • Knark för själen;)

  • i think ive watched this almost every day for the last few months. cant get enough of airkeyobarding along to this bad boy!

  • He can wear that watch 'cause it's a Breil, the watch for blind men!!!

  • @19claudio Not for females then..?

  • Since God refused to do the vocals, this unfortunate band do instrumental pieces.

  • @railertoros Or one of the following:

    1. God was refused to do the vocals for them.

    2. Imaginary subjects can not accept or decline offers.

  • @railertoros he was kicked out of the band.

  • fuck fuck fuck I love this shit...

  • Favourited.

  • Fuckin hell, this goes on for over 6 minutes

  • 1:35 section is fuckin awesome

  • UR

  • this music is meant to be enjoyed with sexy stereo headphones, i'm hearing so many unheard synthesizer noises, it makes the music sound way more technical than it already fucking is!!!

  • Got damn the beat and the bass at 2:23 is just eargasm

  • Wow, these guys are amazing! And the guitar player is wearing the Lumpy Gravy shirt =)

  • Sooo good!

  • wtf at blind guy wearing a watch???

  • @jjoyner000 have you never seen a braille watch??

  • @jjoyner000 Awesome!! I wonder if Mats is joking:) fun joke if so!

  • @jjoyner000 It just might be a talking watch.

  • @jjoyner000 Talking watch is my guess.

  • @jjoyner000 he's got some sense of humour

  • @jjoyner000 he's just so blind, he can see forever and he puts what he sees into music

  • @jjoyner000 I'd guess it beeps on the hour so he can keep better track of the day.

  • @jjoyner000 BRAILLE WRIST WATCH

  • @jjoyner000 I saw that and thought: "I would probably do the same thing."

  • @jjoyner000 maybe the watch physically flicks him once an hour so he knows what time it is.

  • @jjoyner000 you can get brail watches retard!!!!

  • @TheMultiByron hey i still have the top comment on this video so myeh

  • @jjoyner000 ahahahahahahhah

  • Shiiit... This is insanely inspirational. I'm gonna go make some music now (::

  • Well, who wants to hear any more of those mainstream radio hits, when you´ve got these guys? Puts everything else far behind...

  • i love how all the comments for the MM videos are about the bass player...yes, he's awesome. but so are the other 4 of them.

  • bloody hell!

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT!

  • Morgan's work with Fredrik Thordendal is some serious mind-blowing stuff.

  • This is a typical clip that puts you down on the ground again and reminds you that there is always someone thats better. No hybris this month for me lol

  • the bassist almost looks like a relative of fredrik thordendal! I love the silly riffing around the 2:55 mark

  • you see morgan doesn't have a wristwatch?

he goes 7:01:01...02...03 when he leaves home in the morning and keeps counting throughout the day, probably..

  • @XxXxXJonathanXxXxX haha, probably

  • Great, Great Music - they've taken elements of Return to Forever and King Crimson and come up with something fresh and unique - their own vision. Outstanding!

  • Why would Mats need a wristwatch?

  • @fukk666 to tell time...you ever hear of braille, or even a speaker? I had a watch that said the time out loud when you pressed a button 15 years ago.

  • @fukk666

its most likely a speaking watch

  • 1:30 !

  • the bass player is peter jones from dragons den!!! ha ha check him out!

  • Haha! Now every-time that big baby faced bastard is on TV I'm gonna think; "He one technical mutha' fucka!"

  • hey guys!! well lads iv'e been listening to this band for a few years now and i still get the shivers down the back of my neck when i hear this tune, that riff at 1.35 still fasinates me, agh the whole tune can't be beat!!!!! some of the coolest playing around, best of luck from co.donegal!! ")

  • 1:33 = meshuggah!

  • Mh, i really can't enjoy this

  • @Akhin How do you not like this?

  • @Bebopopotamus

    mhmhmhm

    maybe i wasn't in the mood O.o

You made me come back to this, and i found it a lot more enjoyable

  • Comment removed

  • Is the keyboard player the Steve Wonder of the group?

  • This is brilliant!

  • WHO IS THE BASSIST?

  • @bojorquez1234

    Tommy Tordsson

  • MAGMA

  • I have found no music like this ANYWHERE! I have listened to every song of matsmorgan, do you peeps know anything like this?

(while i'm waiting for response i will try writing my own)

  • Comment removed

  • Gordian Knot, you should look into them.

  • some Zappa's songs?

  • Maybe you could give a lry to some Hiromi Uehara's pieces. I think of XYZ for example, but this is somehow different. If you like that kind of minimalism, maybe It's time for you to listen to Steve Reich :)

  • fredrik thornedals special defects vrsn 3.33 is like this on death metal acid, planet x, sme frank zappa maybe, crimson. allan holdsworth too maybe?

  • try Hiromi Uehara. Insane in a different way.

  • @Toujimbwa maybe try cynic

  • @Toujimbwa If you haven't heard of herbie hancock, I suggest you tart checking it out! :) AMAZING jazz fusion right there!

  • Simply awesome

  • Advancedly awesome*

  • Ooooh my god. Hahahahahaha. You really have no clue.. They're Genius and you're a loser.

  • What a nice comment :P

There are types of musicians, you have performers, songwriters and both. Performers are people like Steve Vai and these people. Then you have the songwriters, people like Paul Mccartney, John Lennon and Brian Wilson. Then you have both, which is very rare. People who can both write brilliant stuff AND perform it as well. Point is, Mats & Morgan band are supermusicians, but they don't appeal to people who are not like them. Hence, most people can't understand what going on.

  • @MrKennyBones I agree but I like Steve Vai's music a lot, he just writes in a really guitaristic approach. Which appeals to mostly guitarists haha. I love these guys too though, I hope during my downtime I can try and get a band together at least half, nvm 1/4th! this awesome. Dual majors is just soo much work lol

  • I understand whats going on, once you get into it its amazing!

  • THAT makes sence.

  • Tommy Tordsson makes me hot...

  • what does the title mean?

  • "Diary of a schizophren"

  • ils sont chauvins ces Suédois, ampli EBS pour la basse et Nord Lead pour l'un des claviers ;-) c'est génial en tout cas.

  • Morgan Agren's drumming is exactly how I would want to play if I were unbelievable on drums.

  • Lineup

    Morgan Ågren

    Mats Öberg

    with

    Jimmy Ågren

    Robert Elovsson

    Tommy Tordsson

  • is the other key player Jimmy? Looks kinda look Morgan so just a guess.

What instruments do the other 3 names listed play respectively? thank you

  • Jimmy is the guitarist. The bassist is tommy tordsson and the second keyboardplayer is Robert Elovsson. It's all in the info.

  • Jimmy is the brother of Morgan Agren by the way and Jimmy has his own band

  • what's jimmys band's name?

  • Mats/Morgan Band is a band that features Morgan Ågren and Mats Öberg. Morgan is a drummer and composer and Mats is a keyboard player and composer. The band is a showcase for their virtuosic skills on their respective instruments as well as their compositional skills. Their music is difficult to categorize, containing elements of jazz, electronic music, waltz, dance music, avant garde/free jazz, techno, rock, progressive and modern classical music.

  • There's little Waka Jawaka In here!

  • breathless, maybe too much.

while techniques and deep theories have been widely explored in fusion since the 70's, the expressive possibilities of sound still lack today. maybe someone should fuse fusion's ideas with recent electronic music conquests in experimenting new sounds.

btw, morgan agren is my favorite drummer because of his abstract approach wich I don't always understand.

  • lol 0:32

  • man he is blind

  • year of this please.

    btw this rooocks!

  • 1997

  • It´s so overwhelming! A stroke of Genius!

    I love it!

  • That bass boy knows his shit

  • Arghhh!!!!! This Is So FCKN AWESOME!

  • Krullbullen e Naiz och da bluundback äger. De är FRUKTANSVÄRT BRA.

  • Let me dare and say that the best and the worst thing about the fusion music is that almost everything is allowed,,,,

    almost no restrictions,,,

  • the rhythm thing that starts at 4:25 is similar to shed by meshuggah.

  • It's 4/4 and 5/8.

    Weeeeee...

  • awesome.

  • its 4/4 isn't it? listen to the snare hitting 2 and 4... anyway, its awesome!

  • So refreshing, feel the breeze.

  • Time signature? I'm struggling here!

    God what a track <3

  • Why did you remove your comment? I read it on my feed and I think other people would find it useful!

    "The intro is 4/4.

The next piece (at 0:07) is 21/16. I count it like this:

    3, 2, 2, 3, (10)

    2, 2, 3, 2, 2 (11)

But of course the drums make it all sound even more odd :)

Well, later on there's a drum break (at 1:27) in 4/4 followed by 10/16

    (2, 3, 3, 2)"

Now it's just a case of counting it out and seeing if it's correct... :s

  • Mate you are a ledge! It works :)

  • i just LOVE IT

  • Flawless craftsmanship in music

    WE NEED MORE OF THIS

  • 1:33 is so goddamn awesome it's borderline inappropriate

  • i dreamt about this cd "on air with guest"

    im a schizophreniac 2

    i heard it

    in my mind

    i saw it in colors

a month later someone gave me this cd

    it sounded exactly the same

i love this music a lot

can it be teleported by the mind? is it possible? cuz its so ... out of this world?

  • it is posible your mind is open you can do other things peaple cant docters dont know everything about your condition.i have seen music in colors as well

  • "The Diary of a Schizophreniac."

    :3

  • Wow! Now this is cool!

  • to me this is the height of music.

  • oh my fucking god

    ahhhhhhhhhhhh <3

  • awesome!

  • This is a recording of the live show which was recorded and then played back along with the original performance. It's not a "lipsync".

  • Wow!!!

    This is just awesome!!!

I had never heard anything like this.

  • The name of the bass player in the mats/morgan band video is Tommy Tordsson. the dude on keyboard is Robert Elovsson. The current bass player however is Gustaf Hielm (ex meshuggah).

  • Allright, thanks alot! :)

  • This whole song is incredible but the groove at the start particularly..... so good.

  • 1:33 FUCK YEAH.

  • I'm trying to learn this on drums.. Quite hard! I think the first groove is a 17/16 groove, where the first hit on kick, and synth is the last hit in the mesure before, am i right? I don't really know how to say this in english:P

  • The most funky and absurd groove ever, huh?

You can count this in 21, subdivided in cycles of 10 and 11. Morgan actually wrote this out in 4/4 though.. 10 bars of four with one bar of 2/4 to even it out..

    Very nutritious.

  • This makes everything else on youtube boring

  • Man mats and his moves are bad as!

  • fuckin cool !! shit the people who say that this is not music ..this is awesome

  • Nah no worries, its the same sort of people who say that bands like the "Ting Tings" is "real" music...so no worries! :) We are here to listen and support great bands like this, not listen to one or two mediocre "hits"!

Anyhow, AMAZING song...words cannot describe how amazing this duo (and the rest of the band) are :)

  • oo yeah .. you know more bands like this ?

  • Not with a sound as unique as this, closest thing to it is of course Frank Zappa but you probably already know that! :)

So sorry :( But...hmm...maybe check out some of the avant-garde guys from Japan like "Ruins (Alone)" or the French band MAGMA - Its all very different from this but still cool to check out since its quite unique music...they call it "Zeuhl"!

  • Yeah, this is totally awsome..! Don't know any bands with this unique sound; but they are inspired by Frank Zappa... But you could ckeck out some fusion bands, like Planet X. Thats a cool band! Or some of Frank Gambales stuff with Stuart Hamm and Steve Smith.. Or Chick Coreas electric band.. It's not exactly like this, but awsome like hell!:)

  • the keyboard player is mats öberg. he´s THE mats in Mats/Morgan Band

  • what is the keybord at 2:41 ?

  • sunglasses :Pyou'd better have them.

  • Playing live in Umeå at the 5'th of december.

  • They where awesome! :D

  • Playing live on Fasching also in Dec.

  • the bass player is Tommy Tordsson and the keyboardist i think is Robert Elovsson.

  • la cago ...... its so fucking good !!!! ...

  • this is too awesome

  • When I see this I am proud of the fact that I am from sweden.

  • Me too!
