As a Mariah fan I always keep in mind that Mariah doesn't have to sing she's Filthy-Rich! Mariah sings becuase it's what she loves to do! & Whenever i see her Live or listen to her i can tell she cares about her fans & their Opinions, but it's her life & Career! It's stupid to talk shit about Mariah Carey, because she is one of THE most successful artists EVER. She has sold hundreds of millions and even more. So a little bit of respect would be nice.
I like her a lot, but she changed, which is normal. In the '90s en early '00s she (and Whitney Houston) had the most beautiful voice (this is changed because of Leona Lewis, who has THE voice now). I don't like it that she doesn't sing live. This is far from live... But still, I ADORE her and this song! x
The thing about Mimi is that her voice becomes weaker with time (it's normal, she's been singing forever) and she makes her songs harder and harder to sing. She's a true artist, taking all sorts of risks like that.

Are u stupid??? On Letterman, it was 100% live..listen to the difference between this one wich is live only at the beginning (Once upon..) and end the end when she belts. The whispearing effect is perfect, flawless with a studio quality. It is technically impossible in real live. Mariah is an amazing singer, but she can't produce that in live. On Letterman, this is totally live,a nd her voice has flaws, but I like it too! No offense.
Singing in her *mixed register* is Mariah's forte. There's really no stress in using it unless she's transitioning straight from a belt. This is obviously live. Listen to her belt at and I wish. It was heavily strained. The BABAY was obviously different..
The reason why it look lipped is because its digital and it comes through slower than the sound you all have to remember Mariah Carey is an exsperienced performer she would know better but look at some award shows its the same thing even football sometimes. and the song would be easy for her to sing because shes in a low whisper a piece of cake for her.

she is probably preserving her voice and she struggles to sing basic stuff now. if you mixing lipping with live and support vocals if gives you some rest and improves the overall quality of the performances. it creates a sense that at least some of it isn't prerecorded and gives the audience a better experience (i.e. they feel less cheated) while making the artist look better. honestly mariah could start killing babies on camera and some fans would defend her w/ a passion. relax.

It's stupid to talk shit about Mariah Carey, because she is one of THE most successful artists EVER. She has sold hundreds of millions and even more. So a little bit of respect would be nice.
I like her a lot, but she changed, which is normal. In the '90s en early '00s she (and Whitney Houston) had the most beautiful voice (this is changed because of Leona Lewis, who has THE voice now). I don't like it that she doesn't sing live. This is far from live... But still, I ADORE her and this song! x

The thing about Mimi is that her voice becomes weaker with time (it's normal, she's been singing forever) and she makes her songs harder and harder to sing. She's a true artist, taking all sorts of risks like that.

Are u stupid??? On Letterman, it was 100% live..listen to the difference between this one wich is live only at the beginning (Once upon..) and end the end when she belts. The whispearing effect is perfect, flawless with a studio quality. It is technically impossible in real live. Mariah is an amazing singer, but she can't produce that in live. On Letterman, this is totally live,a nd her voice has flaws, but I like it too! No offense.

Singing in her *mixed register* is Mariah's forte. There's really no stress in using it unless she's transitioning straight from a belt. This is obviously live. Listen to her belt at and I wish. It was heavily strained. The BABAY was obviously different..

The reason why it look lipped is because its digital and it comes through slower than the sound you all have to remember Mariah Carey is an exsperienced performer she would know better but look at some award shows its the same thing even football sometimes. and the song would be easy for her to sing because shes in a low whisper a piece of cake for her.

It seems that every time Mariah sounds good, she HAS to be lipping. I'm not saying she's not lipping here, But I think people also need to consider what they expect to hear from Mariah. If you believe that the only times she sings live is when she sounds bad, then I don't even see why you bother watching her live performances..

It seems lipped to me because of the look on her face. I don't think she wants to sing live because she has to sing in her whisper register so much, and it's stressful on her voice. It's a pretty hard song to sing.

it's clear that this intimate concert has been edited to tha max with enhancements etc...
tha live components are too perfect... which sucks. i'd prefer mariah sing live than have filters and whatever techniques they put in to enhance her voice...

she is probably preserving her voice and she struggles to sing basic stuff now. if you mixing lipping with live and support vocals if gives you some rest and improves the overall quality of the performances. it creates a sense that at least some of it isn't prerecorded and gives the audience a better experience (i.e. they feel less cheated) while making the artist look better. honestly mariah could start killing babies on camera and some fans would defend her w/ a passion. relax.

um, i'm not hating. i'm a fan, but i'm not delusional. and the rabbid, crazy fans that will defend anything an artist does and think they can never do no wrong is really annoying and quite disturbing actually. i don't idolize these people; i enjoy their music and artistry, and when they are lipping i'm going to call them out. it's unfortunate that mariah's voice has dwindled over the years, and your right some of the other performances that same day had less lipping (but still support vocals).

it's weird how many people don't understand that this is lipped. some of it is probably live but it's largely lipped. it's not just support vocals, which many artists have. largely this is lipped + there are support vocals.
