The point being that Britain did produce locomotives that did not smoke - the clag is a generational/design characteristic - ecconomic forces that were promoted in the UK during the '80s put an end to most engineering activity. Ask Brush Traction.

Class 40, one of my favourites from the diesel loco era, others include the class 37 (awesome) class 47, classes 25,26,27 & 33 and of course the Deltic-class 55 !!! :-)

In Germany all Disel Lcomotive's are electrical preheated and startung below 40°C Water is forbidden or must written in Driver's book why it's been done. This is for such large Diesel Engine not good to start them at these temperatures, it costs a lot of Kilometers (Miles) Lifetime.

@nivek194 2000 hp, V16. Not one of EE's finest though, they are abit over weight (130 tons or so) and underpowered but they done the job.
