I dont understand where you get the idea that i said that forming an opinion based on your culture is valid. I didn't say that - you must have thought it up yourself.
Again: the idea this guy is trying to put forth is to expand your cultural views ( of other cultures, of the world as a whole) while not abandoning your own; and, if anything, adding knowledge and innovative ideas to your own culture.

he's talking about not abandoning your community but pushing your own views of culture and society at the same time.
a very good, diverse and multi-cultural view to hold.
