A song called "Everybody" was a huge club hit in 1982 in many cities, and while it did not make the US Top 40, it was a song that existed before "Holiday" became her first US Top 40 hit. Cyndi didn't record songs until 1983, and her first US single didn't enter the US Top 40 until early in 1984 (February 1984, maybe?).

I was lucky enough to meet Cyndi Lauper, well more like ask her for an autograph, when she opened for Cher at the Greensboro, NC Coliseum in 2002. She not only was kind and affable, but also gracious in the compliments she received from me and others.
