That’s just the term he uses to describe his method of finding rare LPs, 78s and 45s.“Dunkin’ Bagel” is a jive-addled stomper sung in a kind of pidgin Yinglish, with “gefilte fish” and “matzah balls” thrown in the lyrics for good measure.

  • There was a lot of connection between Jewish and Black culture back in the 20' 30's then it sort of fell through the cracks as people became more 'isolated' in recent times..Gaillard is fantastic.. Johnny Mathis does a great Kol Nidred

  • There is a fantastic long description of a Slim Gaillard performance in Keroauc's On The Road (Original Scroll). That cat was gone!

  • I've read the book from beginning to end many times in the last 11 years. I remember that scene where Kerouac and Cassidy went out to see Slim in a club. That's where I first heard of him!
