@refuseit - He does have small hands, which would be a disadvantage playing much of Rachmaninoff, but for playing this piece fast, it's actually an advantage.
At least he liked animals and had no problem having family pets. I can't say the same for my ex-girlfriend. She gave me a choice. My dog or her. I do miss her cooking still.
I remember reading in the 80's that chopin was inspired to write this peace after watching the family cat playing and jumping around on the living room floor. It's something i read. True/false, i don't know.
@itsjustnopinionok It was Georges Sand's dog, so the story tells, trying to catch his own tail, which inspired Chopin to improvise this waltz. I think I've read that there is another waltz, Op. 34 N. 3, which was inspired by the cat... But we will never know if these stories are true or not, I'm afraid.
Extraordinary! Very few pianists play this waltz like this! Everyone knows it by heart, but nevertheless Barenboïm succeeds in surprising us. These so brillant crescendos and piano subito!...
@CossacksChampion ach so, meine Klavier Lehrerin sagt immer, dass Musiker keine Fehler machen sie improvisieren :) Aber jetzt im ernst ich hätte das nicht gehört, wenn du es nicht hingeschrieben hättest.

I don't really like the ending how it goes from soft to loud...
