I know I'll eventually end up in a home some day. You have taken that fear away, and hopefully when that days comes, I'll be able to continue playing my music like you. Thanks for sharing and spreading the hope.
I used to have a patient that had Alzheimers, and couldn't even remember her family members. But when we took her to the piano, she just played like a beast.
I remember visiting the homes when my grandparents lived there, and they had a piano in the lobby. I would play there and i remember all the seniors would sit and listen, and that was a lot of pressure haha x) they're super nice.
Amazing! - that's how you see them - but, there are a lot of people in the nursing home that can play the piano like that! There are a lot of people that learned to play the piano when they were young and can do it effortlessly! Even in their Alzheimers state! Because - Alzheimers only affects your recent memories, not your memories when you were young! Of COURSE they can play the piano, because they learned it when they were little!
amen to that this old guy that comes to my store is a ww2 vet listening to some of his war stories is absolutely amazing and the guy loves telling them
Great performer. Nice residence, too. ( Not many nursing homes have a twenty-five-thousand-dollar, polished ebony, six-foot grand piano sitting around! )
Wow, in Kentucky you'd be thrown in jail for shooting a video in a nursing home. I wish we had someone like this in the nursing home i work at, all we get is people that play bad and sing out of key.
I just have to say that seniors are truly amazing... They're chock full of stories and intellectual intelligence... it amazes me that a lot of the true talent is overlooked in them. Absolutely outstanding piano skills.
i agree. and the fantastic part is, they want to spend time with someone and talk to them just as a younger person might want to learn more about their lives. you can learn so much!
Just wanted to chime in and agree with both of you. I'm still under 30, yet all my closest friends male and female are 40+! So much to glean from them and what a wealth of information! Quite a blessing, although, sad to think of them just off alone, with no one to talk to, stuffed in a "home" somewhere! Cheers!
@Audiofailure18 intellectual intelligence? Riight, didn't know there were multiple types of intelligence.. Neither did Freud, or Jung, or anyone else for that matter..
I hope that there's a Steinway in whatever nursing home I end up in....

@JohnBop1200 Yep. "Stardust", composed by Hoagy Carmichael in '27 .... that Artie Shaw arrangement is awesome, by the way!
