  • when were all these silver beatle songs recorded?

  • aww paulie!! he's soo young!!

  • Pete can't even keep the beat at a steady pace

  • Here, we're listening to an unusual vocal rendition by Paul. Still very pleasant and in key, but the performance is somewhat timid sounding. This take is also much faster than they normally played it.

Remember that these Decca sessions are funny for one single, somewhat obscure reason:

This session happened on January 1st of 1962... and the night preceding it was full of partying and drinking, as to ring in the new year. The Beatles were a bit dreary for this morning performance as a result.

  • Compare Pete Best drumming to this song versus Ringo's drumming to this song....

  • @vxenon67 yeah, listen to his drumming in the solo and after

  • @vxenon67 lol ringo actually plays bongos on that song, anyways ringo was for surely a better drummer

  • no havia escuchado esta version de esta cancion... adoro till therre was you

  • Who's singing? It sounds like Paul..

  • @BornForSomething it is paul =)

  • Poor Pete....BUT ! He finally made millions when the Anthology recordings came out.

    Only took 35 years ! ;-)

  • 0:39 MuuusiiiCCCCC

  • Lol ok taking a high standard here but what a shitshow: uneven drums, george messes up the first solo, insane vibrato on paul (his amazing potential still shines through)

  • This is not a offical release from Apple .... the real Beatles songs on this collection can be found on the BBC recordings CDs. Till there was you must have been Tony Sheridan.. or someone else... thats not Pauls voice... his voice is more distinctive...even to this day.

  • This is not Paul...

  • @melh07302 then who is it? It doesn't sound like John, that's for sure. Maybe it's Stu(lol) Better not get my hopes up....

  • @melh07302 It is Paul, he just wasnt as good at the vocals as he was later on, and plus he was younger.

  • amazing how you can say, this is paul, but he's so young !!!! pauly honey, your voice is still changing !!! awsome voice before and after becoming deep though...

  • angel voice, angel eyes, angel smile

  • Paul is definatly very young at this time! Ge sounds sooo cute!! XD

  • Paul sounds like he's doing a bit of Fred Astaire. :) One of his favourites is Cheek to Cheek by Fred Astaire. They sound kinda similar in the tone. :) I like young Paul too. Soo sweet.

  • When the (Silver) Beatles played clubs and dance halls in Liverpool and Hamburg then needed to do some "ballads" so the couples could slow dance, They chose this and it became one of the crowd's favorites.

  • Голос Пола?Vois of Paul?

  • well i cant see the diference between pete and ringo so please can somebody help me ?

  • why is this call Silver beatles?

  • @drv001 cause early when they were touring with a bunch of bands the head guy said they needed a better name than the beatles so they came up with long john silver and the beetles, yes beetles, john was long john paul was paul ramon george was carl harrison and stuart was stuart de stael, eventually they stuck with the silver part in the name beatles

  • @drv001 these are gathered material that the beatles with pere best (no ringo) recorded and preformed in the cavren....

  • Obviously not a cover band at all, no human could sound like this that wasn't Paul McCartney.

  • oh my goodness.

    the vocals are so sweet

    is it really Paul?

  • @AllytheWalrus5391 I think it's Tony Sheridan singing. the beatles backed him for some time

  • @rytullis Not Tony singing. Paul. I think the Silver Beatles were Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Best. Possibly Stuart Sutcliff with them, not sure of the history to that extent. But I don't think so. Definitely Paul's voice here.

  • @kfoster009: Not, it was Paul in 1960

  • Paul Mccartney in 1960

  • Pete basicly plays the same beat all the time.

  • This is a cover band, folks....

  • who's sing?

  • @beatlesjglv4evr The person singing is a very very young Paul McCartney... He sounds so sweeet....

  • GOOD GOD THEYRE SO YOUNG

  • But, quite honestly, Pete's drumming here is just like a drum machine. His usual style only a little slower. No imaginative breaks or subtleties. Ringo was the missing musical ingredient.

  • they needed ringo .

  • pete best was a disaster as a drummer... In this song you can see clearly why...

  • This song is Awesome

  • George Martin apologized to Pete Best at Neil Aspinall's funeral stating" i didn't want you out of the band, i just didn't want you playing the session". He didn't let Ringo play on "Love Me Do" either. John Lennon said " we were our Best in Hamburg where the world never go to see us". Ringo was a great Beatles drummer....but Pete Best has his place in history. He is a Beatle...only one of 6 that can ever make that claim. He performed more gigs on drums with the Beales than anyone else.

  • This is definately Paul! I know Paul when I hear him...

  • is that Pete Best singing? cuz it doesn't sound like John, Paul, or George

  • @PARKER3688

    It`s Paul

  • oh this is the worst song of pete best as a beatle just lisent how he doesnt change teh tempo JUST LISTEN AND TELL ME IF AM GROWN then listen to the beatles version on the with the beATLES ALBUM YOU´LL SE THE DIFFERENCE

  • Maby on this but in Like Dreamers Do he is good. And remember these boys had hangover after new year partying, it's documented.

  • i love this!

  • Ouch! Why is the drumming so poopy on this one?

  • @stripeyhole i think the word ur lookin for is shitty. eveything else is good maybe its abit fast too

  • Comment removed

  • and ringo wasnt there to play the drums so thats why it was so poopy

  • @georgedude77 not truetheyweremore pop with ringo however they wet´re aksked to playthis song by the newmanager

beatlesROCKED IN HAMBURG HOWEVER before epstein martin or ringo got involved pete Was best! as far as rock n roll was concerned classic rock n roll that is

  • Listen closely after 0:26 to the way he sings " I never soar them winging, I never soar them a-atall..." it's Paul as he sang it on Meet The Beatles. The producer hadn't gotten him to moderate his Liverpool dialect yet.

  • That's clearly Paul McCartney.

  • Pete Best doesn't suck, he's a good drummer if he sucked The Silver Beatles wouldn't of picked him, Ringo is just better.

  • Interesting theory................unfortunately it's just plain wrong.

  • If its wrong, then why did it happen?

  • Pete Best was a very average drummer, the other Beatles especially John felt that he was holding them back. John really liked Ringo's drumming.

  • Once A Beatle, Always A Beatle thats what i say

  • Sounds good to me.

  • John said that Pete is a good drummer but Ringo is a good beatle... So how about that..?

  • @DropkickMurphys12 but then y did they kick him out?

  • No that's Paul

  • For the record: Best was average at best, for a professional drummer.

  • he sounds almost like elvis in this one

  • ringo plays thousand times better than pete best

  • Hitler doesn't like music.

  • it is almost hard to even recognize pauls voice in this song

  • i love you beatles although youve been gone for almost 40 years youve been a huge part of my life. i love you, plain and simple.

  • who sings this one?

  • Paulie.

  • Paul McCartney

  • The difference in Paul is because the drummer is off. Sorry but Pete misses a few beats

Who could carry a tune to that tempo.

Pete certainly wasn't the best (no Pun)

This is from someone who really sides with PBest.

    Regards, JOJO

  • Pete Best deserves some credit being a beatle

  • well silver beatle lol

  • Or both lol, they were known as the silver beatles when he joined, then they were the beatles .

  • aqui es cuando se juntan por primera vez john lennon, paul McCartney y george crean la banda john silver & the beetles incluso no estaba ringo en esta banda. buen estilo con esas chaquetas de cuero jeje.

  • Pete Best was every good a drummer as Ringo; they were both excellent. Why he was offed I have no idea.

  • he surely wasn't on ringos level, ringo is one of the greatest drummers of all time, while best was average, would have better fitted in a band that never leaved hamburg.

  • i agree ringo is the better drummer but he isn't tarrible he's below average he's like a basic drummer with the same beat throught the entire songs hitting the snare every two beats

  • whose signing?

  • It's paul singing

  • why does paul sound so diffferent here than in 63?

  • Because he wasn't as good as a singer at the time. He got better.

  • they used to play for hours, so his voice must have faded after a while, plus he's not using it correctly

  • the song is a halftone higher, that more difficult to sing.

  • Paul McCartney

  • Pete Best was a less than average drummer, and might actually have held them back. What an excellent decision to hire Ringo instead. Made George Martin a lot happier too (after "Love Me Do," of course!)

  • Sweet...

  • I think this is great! =D

  • He's just hitting the hi hat, but he cann't even do that right.

  • Pete Blows! Ringo was clearly the right guy to replace pete.

  • yes but that's pete best not blows =) oh is it a verb ?

  • @TBROX pete is beast when it comes to rock n roll songs

  • they used pete those fuckers..

  • YEAH I AGREE WITH U........

  • sounds great.

  • this is good stuff..

obviously the later versions are better quality, what with george's improved solo and ringo.

but this is sorta surfy..just a little.

  • who sings?

  • a very young paul.

  • @LoooFeN Wow, really? I'm starting to see the resemblance, very young

  • george does a better solo

  • Oops, Pete keeps speeding up. No fills or ride. Ouch!

  • pete's drumming sounds like a damn midi metronome

  • That's probably the reason why George Martin told Brian to kick him out of the band...

  • suena mucho mejor con paul

  • ese es paul

  • WOW listen to this now go listen to something paul did recently... his voice changed a lot

  • Wow Pete kind of blew

  • with the beatles version better than that. paul's voice was good but when he said "music"...the look like "moosıkkkkk", you know. pete's drums was bad, ringo is really better than.

  • Ringo and Pete were great drummers when they beatles.

  • pete's drumming sucks

  • ditto

  • This version is from january 1962, so they were THE BEATLES already.

The "Silver Beatles" was the name of the band only during a short period before the first visit to Hamburg(1960).

Anyway, thank you very much for posting this version.

  • paul mcartney and john lennon r too good artists in d beatles..

  • I haven't heard this in years. I have the bootleg album but my turntable broke before I could make a tape. This version is not as polished as the one we all know but it's still really lovely. Paul's voice sounds gorgeous. And I like the guitar break. Not as good as the intricate one George worked out, later, but interesting.

  • I agree =)

  • i prefer the later version, but this is still a great song.

I'm so glad the Beatles got popular, or else none of us would be listening to this

  • I also disagree I prefer the second version but I like this one too it's interesting to know it

  • The Beatles are the greatest

  • love this song

  • I disagree.

  • good to know the beginings of the beatles, this version is better even that the one that was sung years after by the beatles
