But when the song was written in 1948 in Boston, folks, it WAS the MTA - the "B" was added in the 1970s. The song is copyrighted by Steiner and Hawes as "The MTA Song," and the 1959 hit record - the first time anyone outside of Boston had ever heard it - was by the Kingston Trio and called simply "MTA."
