  • Question: Why would any bike manufacturer make a 10.1 lb bike and point out that it is raceable when the UCI rules clearly specify that a racing bicycle must have the the minimum mass of 14.99 lb? Thanks

  • Those pedals look super light. Are they expensive?

  • steel is real

  • @foxbatization Yeah, Real heavy!

  • Did he make a mistake when he said: "the headtube tapers from 1.5 down to the crown up to 1.8..."? shouldn't it be 1 1/8inches instead?

  • wow really impressive! and so the price!!

  • 10.1 lb ? wooow that impressive, what a nice bike, I want one of those :)

  • whatt?? the lightest that the uci allows is like 15 i thot??....

  • @ironbubble

Hence his comment at the end of the clip:

    "Obviously it's not UCI legal."

  • @ironbubble 6.8 kilo

  • Sports Basement also sells high end clothing wear that you won't see at Walmart. So I wouldn't consider them as a discounted store.

  • Cannondale is now owned by the same company that makes Mongooses for Walmart.

    It's a dead company.

  • Thats like saying the Scion cars that Toyota owns makes their Lexus cars look bad...

You won't see a Cannondale in any of the discount stores. But still, Cannondale should have stayed an independent manufacturer.

  • Well, Cannondale already is in the discount stores. You can buy them here in Silicon Valley at the Sports Basement.

Honestly, I'd have to say Specialized bikes are more comfortable anyhow and I probably wouldn't buy a Cannondale at this point anyhow.

You scoff at the notion that Cannondale will die as a brand, but remember Diamondback? That was first real road bike. Walmart sells those too. Mongose was even a respected name at one time.

  • I wouldn't call Sports Basement a official bike shop but they do have the standards of having being one.

Sports Basement also carries Felt, Fuji, and Jamis bikes who makes very nice high end bikes. Are they going to be a dead company too? Do you see them carry Schwinn, or Mongoose bikes that you see at Walmart?

They also do complete repair services, bike fitting, wheel builds and pro builds.

They definitely hired a experienced bicycle dealer.

  • Dorel Industries owns Huffy, Murray, Schwinn and Mongoose. If they don't screw up the Cannondale name, that is going to be a first for them.

I'm just saying history is a good guide, and although it would be nice if it's different this time, there is no indication that it will be.

And honestly, I don't care to argue about the future. You can just wait and see. I'm more likely to be right, but it's possible I'm wrong.

  • Yep. Very agreeable. But Dorel Ind. do claim that Cannondale will remain a independent bicycle dealers segment. Which they said on their website.

  • 10.1 pounds? How much does that bike cost.

  • theyv been making those "hour glass" seatstays for 10 years now, nothing new. nice bike though.

  • I have the same frame. With EC90 carbon tubulars and a full Rival groppo, it weighs 15 lbs 8 oz.

  • I wonder how long will those carbon chainrings will last.....10k.?

  • Wow, that's crazy.
