Chomsky's opening observations were quite prescient.
We can now use those observations on AT LEAST 2 additional Arab regimes: the Assad & the Saleh regimes...
Even the high & mighty king of Morrocco SEEMS to pause a fraction longer, when he shakes hands with some "ordinary Morroccans," whereas before, he simple required that they bow, kiss his hand/"special ring" quickly, and let the next person kiss it, too, just as quickly... as he quickly walked by...
I have recently met marwan bishara in person outside a mosque in london, it was great to meet a political analyst whom i adulate. although im not too much of an avid fan of the democracy now shiow, considering it only encapsulates politics which evolves around democratic principles primarily, and does somewhat preach democracy to be a superior politics system as opposed to others, which is to some degree a false perception.
Je ne comprends rien à ce qui se raconte sur ce plateau de télévision. C'est tout en anglais et je ne pige rien à ce bavardage. C'est incompréhensible.
Bullshit and bunch of crap about western sahara . Everybody knows that it's a conflict between Algeria supporting the Stalinist terrorist group called POLISARIO and Morocco. Morocco has proposed to the polisario a status of autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty . The Sahara problem is a decolonization issue mainly due to Franco. Overhaul i agree with chomsky only the sahara issue is crap.
IF I COULD SAVE THE PLANET I WOULD FIRST HAVE TO GET RID OF THE ENTIRE NORTH-EASTEREN SEABOARD AND ALL THE EXTREMIST AMERICA HATERS WHO SPEW THEIR FILTH ON PROPAGANDA
FILLED CRAP LIKE DEMO-NOW...THAT WOULD BE A GOOD START............WITH JERKS LIKE THAT TRAITOR WHO NEEDS ENEMIES.
They did not start in the Western Sahara, they started in Tunisia the polisario-Western Sahara sovereignty subject has been going on for ages, it not related whatsoever to the wave of protests that started in Tunisia, also those protests in Western Sahara did not start in november, if we are to say that they started in Western Sahara we might as well say they started in Iran in 2009, those protests did not have an effect on Tunisia whatsoever, heck noone even heard about them there.
my professor made an interesting comparison between sports and egypt. after a team wins a superbowl that entire organization is on a euphoric high because they've achieved the biggest feat in football, however, those who do win the superbowl have shown to suffer from a type of SB hangover.
Tunisians and Egyptians were able to find solidarity amongst themselves and actually achieved their revolution. What happens now? Will they continue to find consistent popular support?
it fel so great to finally see Chomsky smile after so long. God help the Revolutionnaries of the Arab World. such a wonderous time came after soo long, May this liberty keep going to stop AMERICAN IMPERIALISM. Arab World Zindabad!!
I know what Chomsky's problem is - he's a hopeless romantic so he cant stop talking in this soft bedroom voice as if he was talking to his lover. hehehe! Love you Sir.
The guy from AlJazeera ir right in that there is a real demand for change but he's also wrong in that things could get real ugly real soon. What the US is trying to do right now to overthrow Arab government who said no to an Arab coalition that will attack Iran. That's why Mubarak is gone. I'm not sure it's gonna work though.
Shame on you Chomsky! I'm very disappointed. Don't talk about what you know NOT! the Sahara is Moroccan and forever will be! Go do learn some history before you attack others with you accusations!
Democracy Now and Empire have the best political analysis I´m aware about, add Chomsky to the mix and you have an intellectual orgy of the highest caliber
@Metsada007 ''Empire'' is a weekly show on Aljazeera and is hosted by Marwan Bishara. You can find it by going to aljazeera . co . uk and look for Empire.
Noam admits Arabs have been 'disregarded', but wont admit theres a flip side - Israel has been favoured, due in a large part to a powerful US based lobby effort by US supporters - Jew and Gentile. Chomsky see's the US as the guiding hand of Israel. The truth is Israel is beholden to no one, thanks to bought and paid for US / Western politicians.
@Dubwise78 That's true. It bugles the minds that he cant see this. Truth is support for Israel, which is view as a bully in the ME, has been a disaster for America who were greeted as heroes after WW2 if what i heard is correct. Example of that is the 6 day war and how 6 Arab nations broke relations with the US after. I will even go as far as to say the US is finish precisely because of support for Israel. The US is view has an enemies in this key part of the world cause Arab see Israel = USA.
@Dubwise78 to finish my thoughts.. This region is key for any super power to control because of geo-strategic interest. Close to China to contain this growing power and to have access to this enormous resources and the most densely population area in the word where the future economies is. If my info is correct and i think it is.
This Jewish guy here explain how Israel has managed to control US foreign policies in that region if you interested:

Sorry but this started out as food revolt over food-fuel prices, unemployed youth, and government subsidies being cut. A combination of neoliberalism(??) and Wall Street commodity speculators created the environment of instability. People in Tunisia toppled their government over these grievances.
The media hype about democracy started once protests formed in Egypt around Jan 28. And they media hype about democracy died down after Hosni Mubarak left power and he conveniently (rumored) had a stro
@VexZeez lol... aouch! Except Chomsky is a decent guy as for Kissinger a major MF!
You are correct in that the cause of the revolt cant be traced to wall street. But don't you think this could be part of the plan? ;-) Some people say money is an instrument of power...
Theory is that Egypt, & the Saudi said no to a US plan to form a coalition of Arab nation to go to war with Iran so the US want to replace these governments with compliant ones. But i think it's going to blow in their faces.
