Many sculptors certainly do still polish by hand. There are hurry-up solutions for some sculptures, especially if they are architectural. This would include electric or pneumatic grinders and polishers. However, any marble sculpture that has subtle curves and - especially- figurative should be done by hand. Hope this helps. GM
