@adXok - An amazing musician. Timothy Jack Wall. He had the pleasure of doing what he loved most. Music. He was negotiating a contract in Vegas to perform as Jimi Hendrix just prior to his diagnosis with lung cancer. My brother played Beck with such grace. Jeff would be proud. Listen son, I've met both and yes I can play guitar also, I share the same birthday as Jeff Beck, but I cannot play like Hendrix or Jeff Beck. In the days of the Yardbirds, it was Hendrix who admired and wanted to play like Jeff Beck when he first arrived here. On the album 'Are You Experienced', there is a lot of Chas Chandler influence working with production that contributes to the sound. This required a second lead/rhythm together with a touch of extra 'loop' recording to achieve 'live'.
i thought that in your comment you were implying that beck was in the same league as hendrix. hes not. i know this will gets loads of thumbs down because its on a jeff beck video, but i dont really mind because i know that hendrix is the better guitarist, having studied his style for about 4 years now in detail it is on a much higher level than becks playing, even though jeff beck is one of the best
I understand what you're saying. At the time Hendrix died we all felt cheated. Hendrix had set the ball rolling for us all and we couldn't wait to hear what new sounds he would develop. Beck, Clapton etc., were just a few who felt the same. It was a terrible shock which left us all feeling cheated regarding what could have been. It is testament to the man that we all still play many of his tunes, in the same style, to remind us of his genius, tragically cut short. Beck will echo my views.
jk music isn't a competition. If you heard Jimi respond to comments about him being `the best' he'd just laugh and say whatever man! It isn't important. Just play from the heart and express what you are.
You've studied Hendrix for four years? I have been studying Hendrix and Beck in detail for over twenty years and in my opinion, Beck has done technical things on the guitar that Hendrix never dreamt of. On the other hand, Hendrix was a much more creative composer and played with much more feeling than Beck. All in all, I think they are equals but with very different strengths. But that's just my opinion....
I used to fall asleep listening to the Yardbirds on the radio in about 1965-66. I was 10 at the time and just picking up the guitar. After 2-3 years, I switched to bass because it was easier to get a gig as a bass player. Also because I could figure out the bass line to Train Kept a Rollin'. By that time, I had convinced myself that Hendrix had a more consistent style and was easier to identify. Beck has never settled on a style, and I think that is the thing that hurts his wider acceptance.
whether any of us can play the guitar is moot. we all can, me included. But the fact still lies in how everyone from BB King to Buddy Guy to Eric Clapton to even a producer like George Martin thinks Jeff is an incredible guitarist, and still is.
Hendrix is dead, so we cannot hypothesize whether he would have progressed as much as Jeff did.
But to argue who is best. No one is.
Not even Hendrix would dare claim to be "the best". He stole a lot from Buddy Guy and he admitted it.

Dude, this is comical. I've been away. You have been king shit guarding over your turd island all this time giving positives to all your phony IDs and negging everyone else that likes Jeff? Pretending to be someone else to give yourself positive comments? Bwahahahah! What a douche!

Just play from the heart and express what you are.

thats true

You've studied Hendrix for four years? I have been studying Hendrix and Beck in detail for over twenty years and in my opinion, Beck has done technical things on the guitar that Hendrix never dreamt of. On the other hand, Hendrix was a much more creative composer and played with much more feeling than Beck. All in all, I think they are equals but with very different strengths. But that's just my opinion....

Hendrix was a better rhyhtm guitarist and showman
but he only played the blues by and large and Beck has played every genre you can imagine and done it well.
Jeff Beck is second to none when it comes to feel when he is having a good day

If you are a guitarist you just know when one of your own is a genius. Jeff Beck is in the same league as Jimi Hendrix. They are followed a few steps back by many others such as Eric Clapton. It is the feeling injected into the guitaring of Jeff Beck that sets him apart. Just listen, appreciate and learn. Check out Jeff Beck's guitaring on Roger Waters albun, 'Amused To Death', it is simply superb.

JeffcopiedRay, i'm confused ... by copying, what do you mean ?
if every musician did not copy, we would not be playing music at all.
everyone is guilty of copying (rap=bebop, metal=rock, blues=everybody, classical=everyone)
as the greatest violinist in classical music once said, "it's not who was first, it's who knows how to do it best!"
