  • Notice how the building was basically silent.. shocked and in awe of what they were hearing. Goddamnit he's the best on the planet and I can't see how anybody would debate this. My father turned me onto him when I first started and he wants me to play this at his funeral for him when he passes someday. I can't do it like El Becko, but I will do my best. Thank you Jeff.

  • The greatest ever

  • 10% of the voters of this video were drunk beyond belief and pushed the wrong button.

  • Jeff Beck es grandioso, punto.

  • Such a wonderful player. I can't help but to think of Jimi and what might have been. He is the best living guitarist and is approaching the greatest that ever lived. I can't help but to think Jimi might express gratitude.

  • 31 dislikes....doesn't your hand rot?

  • Esta música simplesmente conta toda a história de uma vida. Definitiva !

  • boto todo el talco que se echa pa no sudar , al suelo ajajjaa :P

  • Apparently 31 people didn't have their speakers turned on.

  • Art is evoking and expressing emotion. I bet I could get my Mom to understand rock and roll with this one.

  • He is the most incredible guitar player to ever grace this planet or universe.

  • I HEARD THIS SONG 20 YEARS AGO AND ITS STILL THE SAME EMOTION SONG AND EMOTION WOULD SAY MISTER BECK I WILL SAY A TOUCH OF GENIOUS MISTER BECK ))))))

  • 3:07-09 Why JB is THE Worlds greatest guitar player !

  • @ChristianPLM -- apparently, PLM stands for " PUSSY-LOSER-MOTHERFUCKER" - CONGRADULATIONS, IN BECOMING A WORLD-CLASS CUNT.

  • @ChristianPLM Your response only shows how immature and low class you are. That's okay, I know that my brother died with thousands morning and you will be alone with no one when you go. No problem...when a "no one" dies it's just over. No tears, nothing. So keep laughing. No one is listening to you!!!!

  • Why Jeff Beck is the Picasso of Electric Guitar

  • There's so much emotion in this performance. Every time he plays it. It's heard by your ears, but understood by your heart.

  • touch baby... its just his touch.....

  • I have never seen him play with such focus onstage and the results are just jaw dropping. I can't really think of another guitarist or musician that can play with such abandon one minute and play with such astonishing taste the next. It gives me chills. Truly a master.

  • @channelmixer well there is one guitarist who is as good as Jeff Beck and he is the legendary guitarist Carlos Santana!!!!!!

  • @rexasul now what's so funny about it....???

  • Jeff is the best....he ends with this song on his current tour and it is AWESOME

  • How does he do it,,turn a note,,evoke an emotion,,slide,,glide,,or hang,,,sustain,,,even a blind man could see,,,The Man Knows What He's doing,,it's up to us how much we enjoy it,,full bore,,mate ,,thx for posting

  • Close your eyes... imagine heaven. My brother was one of the BEST guitarists this world has seen and he idolized Jeff Beck. He made me promise this song would be the final thing heard at his funeral.... Sadly, after a long battle with cancer this song was played for my brother in July 2009. He is in heaven now. Can you close your eyes and believe???

  • Your brother was a Class Act ...........

  • Thanks! It's amazing to close your eyes and listen to Jeff... must truly be what my brother is living in Heaven now.

  • @kobayashisan808 absolutely! for a fellow guitar playin' man, I say cheers. I'll close my eyes one day as we all must, but we will enjoy the time we have by the grace of our lord Jesus. In the meantime I will enjoy the playin of Jeff, Eric, Jimmy, Derrick Trucks, Stevie etc.....

  • @ChristianPLM

Man , I feel sorry for you ! Anybody , with a heart that cold . Somebody must have really

taken a dump on you !

  • @ChristianPLM Kommst du aus Deutschland, Schwachkopf? Wie niveaulos kann man sein?

  • @kobayashisan808

I totally understand your brother's choice. May he rest in peace! I am with you in my prayers!

  • @kobayashisan808 may he rest in peace !

  • @kobayashisan808

Sorry to hear about your loss, i did close my eyes and man this song just hits the spot, stay strong brother.

    Joe

  • @kobayashisan808

    Who was your brother?

  • @adXok - An amazing musician. Timothy Jack Wall. He had the pleasure of doing what he loved most. Music. He was negotiating a contract in Vegas to perform as Jimi Hendrix just prior to his diagnosis with lung cancer. My brother played Beck with such grace. Jeff would be proud. He's jammed with Carlos Santa and some others. I remember the night he sat me down and asked me to promise Where Were You be his final song. It was...... Sure miss him.

  • @kobayashisan808

sad to hear he passed away. The world needs more people doing art. Those guys are touched by God.

  • @kobayashisan808

I had this played at my young daughter's funeral - Rachel Ann in 1991

    Yes, I can imagine

    Peace bro

  • @kobayashisan808 if he was the best why haven't i heard of him hopefully heaven made him better at guitar

  • @kobayashisan808 if he was the best why haven't i heard of him hopefully heaven made him better at guitar

also no one whose favorite guitarist was jeff beck was ever good

  • @GideonDread Sadly you must think that you are someone who had played with Carlos Santa, have thrilled crowds across the world... Mostly, you must be mistaken to think that anyone knows who the hell you are or that anyone even cares. Don't fool yourself. YOU HAVE NO TASTE OR BRAINS!!

  • @GideonDread Ha! At least he's in heaven. It's something you'll never have the pleasure of seeing if you keep up your attitude. Your life must really suck!

  • @GideonDread WHAT? "no one whose favorite guitarist was jeff beck was ever good"

ever heard of SLASH? ._. (unless you think he is not good... then i think you should revise your taste in music)

  • @kobayashisan808 The sparks at 2:12 are the smiles of your brother

  • awesome!

  • Wow! What a genius, he simply reinvents the guitar!!!

  • This is my all-time favorite version of his as far as live goes.. he nails EVERYTHING and I truly can't even describe the feeling I get when I listen to this.

  • 3:36 either seems like he's pissed, or he did it on purpose!

  • OMG!

  • What concert is this from?

  • that's a joke right

  • you're a funny little twit

  • fail

  • yes you do

    Vai?

    Roth?

ask them what they think of Jeff Beck and learn something for petes sake.

  • Haha, what a horrible person it takes to not see beauty in this composition or this guitar playing style

  • not so much a horrible person as a tasteless one

  • I've been humming this tune for years as a lullibye for me children. Wait till they find out where it came from. Jeff has been in their heads since they were babies. Thanks JB!!

  • Beck is a master of the whammy. Also just a master. Great video to watch again and again.

  • there would be no Stave Vai without Jeff...

    absolutely phenomenal

  • When he plays .. Its like ...He connects with the gods .. He like opens the sky and his guitar like starts to play ..Heavens Notes its so amazing .. He has so much feeling in it truly a master !

  • A True master of the strat. No one else comes close and I agree with him when he said "no guitar will do what a strat can do".

  • SUPER SOPRAVVALUTATO!

    Stona da far schifo.

  • Jeff U are UNfuckingBelievable!!!!

  • dang. i want my tremelo on my strat to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You have to have it float.

  • I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E

  • He makes the guitar sing "Where were you".

Its amazing how he can do all this. He has been inspiring me all the time.

Jeff Beck and Phil Keaggy are the best according to me.

  • Two thumbs up to that.... I agree.... Jeff Beck & Phil Keaggy..... masters of the guitar. Each one brings something fresh to the scene.

  • Astonishing tremolo control. Jeff Beck is in a class unto himself... Hauntingly beautiful song... Love the dazzlingly high harmonic at 1:54.

  • Beautiful:):)

  • Ok, I've just been watching covers of this, and I've seen a few really good ones, but damn - the man himself blows anybody away - painfully beautiful. :D

  • this is simply...breathtaking...

  • u lucky fucker to av seen this live, think i've just watched jeff beck at his best, thanks

  • very good motive but an Estonian guitarist Riho Sibul has written the same theme about 10 years earlier. You can find that song-Riho Sibul-Kuulaps

  • amazing.....

  • Song

should be called "Angels Flight as another song on cd. Angels flight is a stairway in downtown Los Angeles

  • I Agree with Lordneel, Love the beckmeister but there are better versions of this guitar classic on the tube, going to see the man this year cant wait.

  • FLAWLESS,his control is unhuman

  • Christ Lord, pack a lunch., and get A JOB- Jeff does more new beautiful phrasing on this than any of the other live things, plus better than the LP..Right on, Zep -

  • By the looks of the video, he's having a bad day. There are some other videos of WWY up on youtube too, find those insead.

  • What are you talking about? This one is by far the greatest. If you don't think so, post a link.

  • This man has a beautiful mind!

  • Beck is the master of expression.

  • god, i can cry to this... unbelievable. The studio version is just impossible to play but this one is far beyond. Thanks!

  • This is so good and beautiful it physically hurts me to listen to this. Can't really explain how but, it's like nothing else is happening when i listen to this.

  • Thank you Jeff, where ever you are.

  • I am an American. I am so proud to be a part or this. And God Bless the world

  • I'm so glad to see so many people still enjoying this. I have since it first came out.

I am also still in awe of this piece and concur with all the superlatives posted here.

  • Why does this have only 4 stars!!!!

  • unreachable notes ,only mr beck can achieve!

  • orgasm??!!?!?!?

    just amazing @.@

  • always thought this was a special tune

    eerily magical fo sho !

cheers to Beck for still kicking ass after all this time

  • Sheer genius Mr. Beck... sheer genius...

  • At 2.55 he makes his whammy sound almost exactly as a slide. He's one cool cat!

  • One of the few remaning real guitarist that started out in the 60-th ,haven´t lost his fire, has continued to change his style and techniqe. This man is besides Gilmoore,Blackmoore,Page and a few others the very core of pure artists. As most others have balied out, he just carrys on. This man is UNIQE !!

  • Only three stars? Weird.

Truly mindblowing phrasing here, especially that lick at 2:55.

  • I meant to say beautiful.....and what magic he weaves!

  • Utterly beatiful

  • The master!

  • Jeff's skill leaves me on the brink of breathless. He's definitely one very skilled guitarist. Love it!

  • I've died and gone to Top Gun..*LOL* All this "who's best" stuff really means who is your favorite and everyone is entitled to have one. So why don't you just leave it at that? Both Beck and Hendrix are powerful players and have moved many people with their music...end of story.

  • ace! 254937657 stars!

  • So great. He's instantly recognizable. 5 stars.

  • Hauntingly beautiful, captivating

  • Some here seem to feel the overwhelming need to pump up their favorite guitarist/musician... that's fine. You might try commenting on their clips instead. Jeff Beck certainly doesn't need my support or anybody else on this site. He has been one gigantic footprint over the last forty plus years... and nothing said here will ever change that!

  • JEFF BECK MASTER

  • where was this filmed dude???

  • Toronto Canada, 3/2001

  • if you think he is in the same leageue as hendrix, then you do not know much about how to play a guitar

  • i thought that in your comment you were implying that beck was in the same league as hendrix. hes not. i know this will gets loads of thumbs down because its on a jeff beck video, but i dont really mind because i know that hendrix is the better guitarist, having studied his style for about 4 years now in detail it is on a much higher level than becks playing, even though jeff beck is one of the best

  • I understand what you're saying. At the time Hendrix died we all felt cheated. Hendrix had set the ball rolling for us all and we couldn't wait to hear what new sounds he would develop. Beck, Clapton etc., were just a few who felt the same. It was a terrible shock which left us all feeling cheated regarding what could have been. It is testament to the man that we all still play many of his tunes, in the same style, to remind us of his genius, tragically cut short. Beck will echo my views.

  • jk music isn't a competition. If you heard Jimi respond to comments about him being `the best' he'd just laugh and say whatever man! It isn't important. Just play from the heart and express what you are.

  • thats true

  • You've studied Hendrix for four years? I have been studying Hendrix and Beck in detail for over twenty years and in my opinion, Beck has done technical things on the guitar that Hendrix never dreamt of. On the other hand, Hendrix was a much more creative composer and played with much more feeling than Beck. All in all, I think they are equals but with very different strengths. But that's just my opinion....

  • I HOPE you straightened out the kibitzers. I totally agree with you and you are also 100% CORRECR ! Thank you.

  • I used to fall asleep listening to the Yardbirds on the radio in about 1965-66. I was 10 at the time and just picking up the guitar. After 2-3 years, I switched to bass because it was easier to get a gig as a bass player. Also because I could figure out the bass line to Train Kept a Rollin'. By that time, I had convinced myself that Hendrix had a more consistent style and was easier to identify. Beck has never settled on a style, and I think that is the thing that hurts his wider acceptance.

  • whether any of us can play the guitar is moot. we all can, me included. But the fact still lies in how everyone from BB King to Buddy Guy to Eric Clapton to even a producer like George Martin thinks Jeff is an incredible guitarist, and still is.

Hendrix is dead, so we cannot hypothesize whether he would have progressed as much as Jeff did.

But to argue who is best. No one is.

Not even Hendrix would dare claim to be "the best". He stole a lot from Buddy Guy and he admitted it.

  • Puts tingles up my spine , I love this sh*t

  • Truly outstanding, the way he can make that guitar sing

  • you said you were gone???

    still here??

you just said bye.i won't be back any soon??

    waddud homey??

    coming or going?? hi hi

  • stereoview waddup??

    burnt up?

  • jeff can defenitely play and mean it

  • hey,being sick gets a vibe going..

  • not bad ey?

  • Cool stuff, but boy jeff got a lot from Roy too..a REAL lot
