  • OMG! Bill really DOES look like kenshiro!!

  • Thats sick the statue of liberty's head was hanging from the empire state building or one of those! Great idea!

  • Naxat was responsible for most of Technos's games on the PC Engine, and I believe almost every single time it was a CD rom version of most NES titles with updated graphics and voice clips (Such as Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari, Nekketsu Koshinkyoku, etc.)

  • This game kicks serious ass, and I have it for the Turbo Duo too! This is my second favorite Double Dragon game of all time, and only Double Dragon Advance for Gameboy Advance is the only one better than this one in my opinion.

  • 2:29, Two for the price of 1.

  • lol. in japanese "double dragon" sounds like "trouble dragon" xD

  • ROLMMFAO at 1:44

"WATCHA GONNA DO BROTHER... WHEN THE HULKSTER COMES TO RAPE YOU!!!!"

  • Call the Double Dragons!

  • @ReaperSound LOL!

  • I love the way the music fades out at 02.37

  • This cutscene captures the atmosphere of the game series perfectly (unlike the silly film version and the cartoon series)

  • awesome! Here is clear the Hokuto No Ken Influende, that I've always suspected. Long Life to both the ones!

  • they look alot younger and skinner here

I'm a bit surprised people actually referred to them as double dragon too

  • Billy looks like kenshiro

  • The first line the narrator says is also very HnK aswell!

But it all makes sense seeing that DD was actually partially inspired by Hokuto no Ken to begin with. This series became much cooler to me upon discovering that!

  • Yeah, they gave it the post-apocalyptic setting and everything. A lot of the most awesome beatemups are inspired heavily by HnK.

  • I coulnt help to think "OH YEAH!" when they broke trough those walls, also I find funny how Americans speak japanese here

  • Non-Japanese people speak Japanese A LOT in most fighting games.

  • Considering that the commercial was for a Japanese audience, it wouldn't make much sense any other way, even if a lot of Japanese people speak English.

  • In the world of Japanese anime, everybody speaks Japanese regardless of nationality.

  • Awesome. How the adventure begins. Hail Double Dragon.

  • Was this port any good?

  • is game is for ps3,kkkkkkkkk

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Doubke Dragon 4 Ever!!

They should have made more on next gen consoles. Keeping it side scrolled but in 3D. That would have been awesome if Technos Japan created another! Or if they gave the project to Tecmo so that you can fight in like in Ninja Gaiden from the XBOX.

  • Xbox? No.

    A console I own? Yes.

  • Wiiware would be a perfect fit for a DD sequel. PSN and XBLA would be great too, but I only have a Wii so I'm not familar with those.

  • Haha, all the Billy=Kenshiro comments.

What do you think is more explosive? Kenshiro punching heads, or the sheer power of the Double Dragon Knee kick?

  • dey need to brings dis back fa ps3 n ting

  • Uh...what? Please stop butchering the english language. I think you mean "They need to bring this back for the PS3 and things."

  • u just said the same shit i said

  • What you said was barely understandable.

  • but ya no what i said rite !?

  • Just barely.

  • lol i no fa da nex time den ........ my bad

ill know for the next time then

  • It never really clears up who's girlfriend Maria actually is, Billys or Jimmys?

I guess she likes getting double dragoned.. :)

  • You get a thumbs up for that.

  • @DoubleIntruder It's basically hinted that she's with both of them.

  • @DoubleIntruder

    * Bimmy

  • i love this music !!!!!!

    i want cryyyy

  • did she get shot in this version like the arcade our was she beaten and raped???

  • Shot, by none other than Willy, himself.

  • Oh, sorry. Scratch that. Thought you were talking about the arcade version for a sec.

She was probably stabbed in this version.

  • 2:27: Billy Lee makes the same grunt when he gets killed in gameplay.

  • Billy = Kenshiro? Who knew.

  • AHHHHH TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA TA Ta....!!!!

  • So is this version ACTUALLY better than the nes version?

  • domo arigato mr. roboto

  • I love the intro of this version from DD2. It's awesome!!

  • year 1998? 10 years ago lol. It feels just like Fist of Northern star.

  • I like the artwork of Billy and Jimmy MUCH better than the artwork in Double Dragon Advance.

  • Yeah I like it too. They sort of look like bastard sons of Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

  • The Double Dragon series is more or less a ripoff of Hokuto No Ken.

  • hah, that is true. :)

  • For some reason this reminds me of Dracula X: Rondo of Blood. Especially since if you switched Billy & Jimmy's clothes and clothing color around, you'd end up with Richter Belmont!

  • dude this is sick why the fuck didn't I get to play this when I was a kid, god we don't get anything I bet theres some japanese kid playing some Gundam Tekkaman FPS non sense somewhere and I'm never going to touch it gosh darnit

  • Interesting; Jimmy Lee's design looks a lot like Berzerker from another Technos game, The Combatribes. Except Jimmy's in red and Berz is in blue.

  • I see I'm not the only one who thinks Billy Lee looks alot like Kenshiro.

  • No you are not sir.

  • ya he look like Kenshiro

  • Billy and Kenshiro are both based on Bruce Lee, so that's not much of a surprise.

  • No sire he looks nothing like him

  • awesome music and scenes.

  • hokuto no ken XD

  • lol ya big Fist of the North star rip there.

  • Awesome.

  • You don't need a translator for this. Just play DD2 for NES and the story line is exactly the same.

So reading all the TEXT SUB scenes from DD2 with this anime makes perfect sense of the story. Nuclear War, newyork destroyed, gangs and violence, Marion is killed. Read the NES text then watch this MOVIE = EXACTLY THE SAME!

    No need to translate.

by far this is the greatesst DD2 game ever, I love playing this game !!!

  • Not exactly. There are some subtle differences. The backstory is a bit more fleshed out in the PC Engine and the NES version isn't exactly a 100% word-to-word translation of its Famicom counterpart (but pretty close by NES standards). But otherwise, you can still half-guess the dialogue if you've played the NES version.

  • I'm currently studying Japanese and I can actually understand a few words the narrator is saying. "Senkyu hyaku kyuju ni nen" means 1992. And "Senkyu hyaku kyuju hachi nen" translates as 1998. Now that I'm studying this language, some of its words are becoming quite familiar now.

  • Good for you!

  • Thank you. But I don't see how that's a bad comment.

  • No I did not mean that as sarcasm, I meant it, I wish I knew a little japanese.

  • I still don't know to talk in sentences, but total immersion by jumping into Japanese RPG's and downloading the program "JWPCE" (Japanese word processor) is a start. It'll help you on at least katakana/hiragana characters. Just don't even worry so much about not getting the story. You'll be amazed at what you've picked up, no matter how little.

  • A Japanese Word Processor? OK I can try that thanks....

  • Oh, okay. Sorry about that. My bad.

  • Its ok, I should of worded it better

  • @MagusX1

I guess half the kids on this planet would like to speak japanese just because of video games :-)

  • does anyone have the version of the DD theme they used in this?

  • Bimmy and Jimmy at their coolest! (I don't know why I always refer to Billy as Bimmy)

The Double Dragon theme sounds really, really good in this one. Wonder if they have a full version of the song.

  • Its some silly typo made in the third NES game. The Angry VG Nerd points it out in his thrashing of the game and everyone is now "LOL, his name is Bimmy".

  • Yeah, I'm just wondering why saying "Bimmy" instead of "Billy" has become a habit for me. I sure hope I don't call anyone "Bimmy" and get them mad.

  • ...e dire che al tempo mi sarei anche esaltato.. avrei preferito una classica presentazione alla Capcom con poche immagini, ma ben fatte. vabè ^^;

  • Look its Kenshiro and Vash the Stampede.

  • Yeah, I agree with you! Hokuto No Ken inspired this animation at 100%, I'm sure! I didn't thing about Vash the Stampeade, but you're right! :D

  • They need to make this for PSP.

  • I haven't seen too many naturally blond people in Japan. lol

  • There aren't that many on Earth, period.

  • lol.

  • They are supposed to be Americans and not Japanese, even if this is a Japanese designed game.

  • Billy looks like Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star

while Jimmy looks like Falco from Fist of the North

    Star 2(Hokuto No Ken 2).

  • BTW, regardin the anime thing, I think a "Fist of the north star" or "berserk" drawing style would fit perfectly, in my opinion (sorry for the writing, not born lenguaje)

  • BTW, I think Billy looks beter with Black or Brow hair, because he don't look so "stereo tiped blonde hero", and with black/brown hair he look more respectabol.

  • Can some one tell me were can I download this version.

Double dragons was the first game I ever played, and till now, the best beath em up in the world.

  • Why are they always confusing Billy and Jimmy. Billy is supposed to be the blonde in the blue, like in the orignal arcade. Why can't they stick to the original?

Did billy and Jimmy switch color jackets for DD2?

  • They switched their hair colors starting with the first NES game, although the ending of the arcade version of DD2 did featured Billy and Jimmy in their switched hair colors. Its been that way in every Technos-produced Double Dragon game since then (excluding the Neo-Geo game based on the movie). I'm guessing Technos just wanted to distinguish the two brothers.

  • I think it makes more since to say they switched clothing cuz you cant really switch hair color. So lets say in DD2 they switched jackets haha those bastards tried to fool us. jk.

  • Billy has always been the one in blue and Jimmy the one in red. Even if pretty illogical, it's a hair switching and not a clothing one.

  • The only exception is the arcade version. Billy was wearing black, and Jimmy was wearing white in that one.

  • anyone have this for pc looking for it

  • No, wait. I meant Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta).

  • Yep, the same voice actor. He also did Kunio's voice in the PC Engine Nekektsu games.

  • Is it me, or does Billy sound like Takeshi Kusao?(Trunks in DBZ) I've always wanted to see a Double Dragon anime!

  • Absolutely, me too. That would make for a kick ass anime, especialy if it were done by the same animators as Ninja Scroll.

  • Same here, man. Totally. I would love to see an anime based on Double Dragon two. That would be a dream come true.

  • I might have to do it might self some day.If I ever get my animation studio funded that will be a definite project.

  • This beats the cartoon show bay lots of miles!

  • engrish!

  • And it more than makes up for the movie.

  • Judging on the backstory and the how Billy closely resembles Kenshiro, its obvious that Double Dragon was partly inspired by Hokuto no Ken. AKA "Fist of the North Star".

  • Most of the Double Dragon covers in japan have a resem

    blence to Hokuto No Ken.

  • Go Kenshiro! Err... I mean BIlly and Jimmy!

When was all this faux Fist of the North Star stuff first put into Double Dragon? When playing the original games, there is no hint of it at all, yet this version and DD Advance go quite far to immitate FoTNS star in their cutscenes.

  • Nice I had this game was well on my PC-Engine Duo.

Seems like Toneman and me have the same tastes.

  • Exactly. Only difference between us: I have the white Duo-R

  • Wow. I didn't know that this version even existed. This is awesome. Nice character designs for Billy and Jimmy. The animation could have been better but it's okay. I take it that this is a combination of the arcade and the NES version. I wish I could understand what they're saying though.

  • It would also be cool if you could get the other intros of this (PC version that is)

  • Jimmy was Christian!

And Billy really looks like that guy from Fist of the rising north star or whatever. Which I think double dragons was based off of. And that theme sends a shiver down my spine because its so damn good!

  • The character's name is Kenshiro, and the series he's from is called Hokuto No Ken (literal English titles: Fist of Ursa Major, Fist of the Great Bear, and Fist of the Big Dipper), better known in North America as Fist of the North Star. Billy Lee is indeed modeled off Kenshiro, and Jimmy Lee is loosely modeled off a character from the second HNK series named Falco. That would make sense because Kenshiro and Falco were equals in terms of fighitng abilities.

  • That sums it up.

  • This is so cool!

  • Yeah just Japan. It really doesn't matter since the CDROM is REGION FREE! :D

  • The Double Dragons and the American gangsters all speak very good Japanese. I would love to take Japanese lessons from them.

  • Heh heh. Tell me about it.

  • i dont think it was put for usa olny japan

  • I have a turbo grafx CD and I am getting this game BUT doesnt it have cut scenes throigh out the whole game

  • what are the chances of this game beeing on the Wii's Virtual console?

  • Dude, finaly!! the rom never worked with me, finaly i can see the intro i have been waited so long, Thank you allot, i love DD, yea, i like it so much, i even made some flash movie's from DD , (you know, see-able at NG) caount name : rebaz , go check em out, you gonna love them!!

    and again, Thank you!!

  • you are the one that did the double dragons flash in Newground?

WOW, so you did "jimmy's revenge", "double dragons 2", and "double dragons advance", rigth?

  • boy thats old as me

  • I ended up buying this game because of you. Expensive, but well well worth it.

  • LOL I had to give up my Game Boy Advance SP for it, but same clincher.

  • By far the best version of Double Dragon II ever, if you ask me.
