  • oh, well, typing in english does not help me to be clear, sorry, "the fact" is about what LaGueriniere said of course (just because someone forget many of the "opinions" of this master), but, then, if you perform this demi-arret correctly, the quarters become lower also in the practice... at least this is what I see when a rider do this correctly...

but I don't mean this is the only way to lower the haunches, but this is a way, sure...

anyway in this video there is no demi-arret...

  • Ah, okay, I gotcha, nabumax. Makes sense.

  • Hands do not raise the horse's head in dressage.

  • sorry, is exactly the opposite, in this video the rider raise the hands slowly when the horse raise his head, to teach him to nod do that, but lower his neck and remain on the bit

and then, when an horse is suppose to not reverse his neck anymore, and finally is correctly "on the bit" --- if you read the original text of the Master La Gueriniere --- the hand must raise again but now performing a correct "demi-arret" in order to lower the quarters, so it is a fact, not an opinion

    best regards

  • Just because La Gueriniere said it does not make it fact, it only makes it HIS opinion, right or wrong.

  • @UltimateDQ ,

This isn't why people use it. It's a technique that been around for along time and is still used because it works.

  • @shirehorse9, I was just responding to nabumax's comment because I disagree with the idea that because a certain person said something, it is fact. That's all. I don't know why people would use this technique, if you would care to enlighten me, that's great. If not, that's fine too, I will just keep trying to ride my horse from the back to the front to achieve lightness.

  • @shirehorse9, re my last comment, never mind. After re-reading both of nobumax's posts here, I think I understand what he is trying to do in this video. I still don't agree that it is the best way, but it at least makes a certain amount of sense.

  • @nabumax What I see in this video is that when the horse lowers his head, the rider loses the reins and the contact is gone. Bullshit.

  • @scotchb29 the very bullshit is your comment, because I dont see any loses of the contact, may be the fact came from your wrong idea to maintain a too much strong contact, poor horses...

  • @nabumax Have you ever tried to carry a heavy bag -20 kg or more- on your back BUT: keeping your body totally straigt, not falling with your upper body forwards, to help your spine but keeping straight, head up! uuuuups that hurts!! and exactly like this feels the horse having to carry MR Karl´160 Pounds. on his back without contact with the reins, what would help the horse to carry the weight.

  • @nabumax You always talk about "when the horse raise his head" ... when correctly riding, the horse NEVER raises his head. Not even a second !

  • sure! when an horse is BAD ridden he really never raise his head anymore, because an harsh rider (probably having tied closely it with harsh noseband or muzzles) is pulling on the reins giving no choice at the poor horse.. now.. a FORCED position vanish all the benefic effect of that position, so please forget the idea of the low deep and round at any cost and prefer low, long and forward with gentle patience, asking this at the horse intelligence through the aids (hands in this case)

  • @nabumax Oh dear, you must be a greenhorn.

  • @nabumax

Oh please don´t about things that you do not know! a horse raises his head because the rider is not sitting in the perfect vertical and is probably pulling on the reins! if you seat 100% vertical and leave your hands quiet, all horses keep the head down !

  • @scotchb29 LOL... really do you think so? you talk like a paper manual, please, let this greenhorn guy alone and go ahead to ride horses how you like, like we can see on your channel, you have nothing to learn from here I think

Nature has its rules, the man his prejudices
