  • search for Doug Grahams Fitness Stunts, and youll see what a high fruit diet does to you longterm.

I doubt Paul Nison can do 20 pushups.

  • @KingOfKingz911 Just so you know, I do about 100 pushups and pull ups every day.

  • I agree with Dr.Bass on fruit. It is good to limit it and not eat alot at one time.

The reason is the blood acidity is affected by anything that is high in sugar, including veggie juices. I avoid concentrated foods. I have a large variety, cold water Wild fish. now raw goat milk. I found some. Mostly green raw organic foods. NO juicing..all whole but I will drink juice diluted.

  • I meant to say, NOT FANATICS. I can't edit this. Sorry...You are not fanatics. You are balanced. Some people want to be vegans. Let them if they want to.

    We can't control the world.

  • Thanks for your comments but on this subject you have no idea what you are talking about. nice try, btw 811 is not suggested!!! No a good diet at all.

  • we should take advantage of all the raw experts out there and then cherry pick what is best for us, we are lucky today that we have so many teachers in the raw field with so many approches so nothing is left out or left behind, the only way forward is to tinker and compare everything till we get it right!

  • I would appreciate it if you could clarify what you mean by 'long term'.

I have been on a fruitarian diet for nearly 18 years and it is working for me.

The 'Supersize Me' guy had major health issues after just 30 days on his diet.

So what is the time frame that can we say that a diet is working well for us? Is 18 years long enough?

I appreciate that different raw diets work for different folk. And I feel that tree-ripe great quality fruit is vital if one is on a high fruit diet.

  • I don't think any diet is bad that is open to understanding each person is in a different climate, place, age etc. I don't agree with a diet that says each person should get a certain amount of something and that's what's best for everyone. Like I said all along, if it works for you great, but that doesn't mean it's best for everyone else. That's all I'm trying to say here.

  • Paul I respect you, but I dont feel your giving the 80 10 10 Diet a chance man.. Dr Bass thinks the fruitarian diet is not optimal and I agree its not.. the 80 10 10 way of eating is a high percentage of organic fruits with enough vegetables and nuts and seeds.. This is how thousands of people thrive who are following this approach.. You should try to interview Doug Graham and have him on your show.. Hes a living example of a 100% raw vegan of nearly 30 years.. Thanks -Mike-

  • I just finished reading The Daylight Diet, Paul, and I'm starting to ease into it. Thank you for writing it; I think it has a lot of valuable information. I find the fruit issue frustrating in the raw food world. It seems like each camp is often hostile and bitter, and I guess it's just because we are desperate to find good health and desperately want our beliefs to be true. I hope there is a balance: some fruit, some fat. Being zealous and extreme gets stressful, for me anyways.

  • Dr Bass starts taliking about Dr.Ehret and then switches to Johanna Bradt without finishing .Brandt and Ehret are not the same. Arnold Ehret was not a rawfooder or a strict fruitarian. He recommended eating leafy greens and also cooking some foods.MDHS book " I differ from the rawfood fanactics" pg 121

He also recommened a transition period diet - pg 131 uncooked starchless green leaf vegetables combined with fruits both fresh and cooked ,will be found to be better than an exclusive fruit diet"

  • Love Dr Bass. He reminds me of Christopher Walken. :))

  • i agree with, acidity will leach minerals from the bones, however, it's largely a matter of brushing the fruit off the teeth, and also any green powders that contain enzymes... this is one of the main reasons the teeth have problems after eating fruit.... alkalinity also, however, simple hygeine is vital when eating fruit.. many people do great on high fruit, its all about balance.... knowing when you're alkaline and need to increase acidity, and knowing when youre acid and need to alkalalize..

  • the key is to eat mostly fruits and vegetables and everything outside of that sparingly

  • Lately I am having trouble with staying raw here in Denmark in winter, I have nibbled at xmas treats and I ate 1½ peice of bread(white), I dunno if I am missing something, but I am always hungry it's crazy, it was much better a month ago when I just started, what suggestions would you have for someone like me? I am afraid for my teeth but I dont enjoy greens a lot though I try to get them in my salads.. Am I missing anything other than greens? I have stopped having too many nuts too..

  • Very informative! Moderation and balance is key.

  • There is nothing with plenty of fruit. Why? Simple. In nature, we are very active and we require healthy carbs. Fruit is that (and raw honey).

  • I saw that debate between Brigitte Mars and Susun Weed. I respect both of those ladies but I have to say that If I saw that debate with no knowledge of raw food then Susun Weed won that hands down. I wouldn't have been too excited about raw foods from that. I do feel that raw foods are superior to cooked foods for the most part but balance is key. Thanks for sharing,Paul. Lovely family you have.:)

  • Paul, please stop deleting my posts. Can't a person even ask a question anymore?

Anyways, I did ask you whether Dr. Bass has any proof that Malic Acid found in fruits actually cause teeth to fall out a persons gums (as he suggested). Thanks for your time.

  • The best thing to do is ask Dr. Bass, his # is on his site. I think the real issue is not the fruit as much as it is over doing the fruit. The man he was talking about did nothing but grapes for a month I think.

  • Thanks for the reply.

If that's the case, then the problems associated with his teeth falling out were because of stupidity, not fruit.

Dr. Bass seems to have very little relevant information on his site. i.e "vegan rats die early and have low energy". Vegan RATS? Why do you even bother using him as a source for your information?

  • Overdoing fruit is not the correct fruit diet.

    Overdoing anything is just OVERDOING.

The fruit diet is eating ENOUGH fruits.

    Can you dig it?

Dr. Bass seems present a LOT of anecdotal assumptions. I rather use science and good logic.

And yes, from my own experience, it seems you are fluent in deleting posts.

Hey, is that a pimple? Try dropping the raw meat.

  • I only delete post where people say something so stupid or off the topic I have no issue with someone who does not agree with me as long as they say it in a nice way. Also I am not going to post comments based on a diet that came out just a few years ago.

  • There are several testimonials on the internet of very sincere sounding people that mention they started losing teeth when eating one particular fruit for prolonged time periods. My feeling from reading is that certain fruits are more likely to cause it, especially if eaten before fully ripened.

  • A fruit-based diet leaves anyone that tries it emaciated, weak, and sick. Man is NOT a frugivore or herbivore. He is an omnivore with STRONG carnviore leanings. A bear is an omnivore. But when he eats too much honey and berries, he has teeth and health problems just like us. The more fish and meat a bear eats the healthier, stronger, and taller he is(grizzlies eat more meat than black bears and are a foot taller) .

  • Like I asked of you on another video, what are your favorite pieces of evidence for man being a near-carnivore?

  • I will reply to all comments as soon as I can get to them. but I will.

  • I do have a question tho...Is cooked greens/veggies better than raw fruit when you are transitioning?

  • It is different for everyone but fresh fruit is good if the person doesn't have any blood sugar issues. They are both fine for transition.

  • Or cancer. Cancer thrives on three things: sodium chloride, sugar and excess protein.

  • This is important. We all need to stay open minded and rational and not go to extremes on diet.

  • Comment removed

  • I am guessing you are not including those that are in transition from SAD to raw vegan. I find I do eat more fruit than I would like to, however it isnt my ultimate goal to eat mostly fruit it is that right now it makes the green stuff go down easier!! IF you know what I mean!!

  • I did a week long watermelon feast and felt awesome! I ate half a melon a day or more though (large melons). I do eat meat still though too. I don't see myself ever totally giving up meat. It's just not logical to do that unless you're trying to heal disease or something.

  • Does Dr. Bass have any supporting evidence that suggests that Malic Acid found in fruits causes teeth to fall out of their sockets (as he suggests)?

  • go to his site and ask him

  • I have a question - paul, how many calories do you eat in a day? and where are the bulk of those calories coming from?

  • lol he lost his teeth because he didnt brush them like you are supposed to, people eat fruit every day for alot longer than a month and have great teeth, but you have alot of valid points I just think that you are reading a little to far into it. if high fruit dont work for you thats fine but it doenst mean it wont work for the majority of the population on the sad diet. the bottom line is an apple is better than a cheese burger

  • Great points Paul. I like what you said about there are no villages or native communities that eat just fruit or even mostly fruit.
