  • You are absolutely right about not having to be mixed to have long hair. I am mixed with many things and my hair is short, thin and very damaged at the moment. Which is why I decided to go natural and view your videos. Its been around 6 months since my last perm but I am scared to do the BC (i have a big head, lol) do you have any advice for me since I am growing out my perm?

BTW you are very pretty and I love the septum piercing, im getting one soon!

  • HI! Is there a specific diet that you follow?

  • HI, Long hair dont care

can you do a video on the grooming hair products that you use.Like the types of hair gel for the twists and braids. Thank you.:)

  • Since you don't wash your hair but once a month, and you want to keep it in that style for a while. How do you keep it moisturized, and not brittle?

  • your hair is beautiful how long have you been natural?

  • I have braids in my hair right now. When I take them out, there is a lot of dirt that comes from my hair and there is also a lot of hair that comes out of my hair. Why does this happen. How can I prevent this from happening. Does washing and greasing my hair when it has braid in it good to do?

  • Dam I just realized something. When I finally get to your length every one will just say it is because I'm mixed... That is bull shit because my texture is the same as yours maybe kinkier lol. Anyway you are an inspiration. I was thinking of texlaxing my armpit length hair but after seeing your hair, I know I want to stay natural. Learn ladies it is how you care for your hair that counts!

  • @theslayher

It doesn't matter what people say, if you want long hair grow it out. People need to say things to make themselves feel better sometimes. If thinking you're mixed will help them sleep at night, do some community service and let them get some rest by allowing them to think so without correction.

  • Ok first of all our girl here is 100% correct, you do not have to be mixed race to have long lovely hair. That being said, I happen to be a mixed woman and let me tell you that my hair is very kinky (not curly) so even those of us that are mixed it is not automatic that you will have easy or low maintenance hair. For years I tried to grow my hair and I finally realized that for me the only way to grow was to go natural. I am APL now and my texture is similar to the young woman in this video.

  • damnn you're sexy

  • Great video and thank you for setting the record straight as far as black women being able to grow long, healthy beautiful hair.

  • good for you! you tell them like it is! wow, such beautiful thick hair

  • I just wanted to say tht u and ur hair is gorgeous and tht i applaud you for setting those ignorant ppl str8 @ the end![: Stay blessed!

  • YEA...UR NOSE JEWELRY IS VERY ATTRACTIVE...N THATS COMIN FROM A PERSON WITHOUT PEIRCINGS OR TATOOS..

  • how often if ever do you trim your hair... did you trim it in the beginning at lets say when it was 4-6inches because my natural hair is 6 inches now... what do you recommend? Because I want to do whats right so my hair lenght can grow long like yours.

  • how often if ever do you trim you hair... did you trim it in the beginning at lets say when it was 4-6inches because my natural hair is 6 inches now... what do you recommend? Because I want to do whats right so my hair lenght can grow long like yours.

  • All people were born from the African race therefore whatever traits you see in "other races" were inherited from Africans but mutated slightly to suit their respective environments. If a white/indian/asian has long hair then one can only come to the conclusion that an African can have long hair because they were born from Africans.

  • Your hair is so beautiful...and thank you for letting the fellow youtubers know that you can be 100% african american and can have long, strong and beautiful hair. Thank you so much.

  • ty. It's a 16 g

  • you are truly an inspiration. Very Pretty hair!!

  • ty so much! :)

  • @Longhairdontcare2011 My hair isn't nearly as long nor as thick as yours, but it's an inch from my chest which is kind of long, and people ask me if I'm mixed, which I am not, I just tell them no and keep on stepping. Keep doing what you're doing cuz you're an awesome inspiration! :)

  • on your nose is that a nose piercing.

  • I've been watching your videos like crazzzzy. You really are an inspiration. Not because of your hair but just the way you speak gives me hope and courage. Thank you (:

  • Wow sweetheart I really appreciated ur response in this video. Keep doing what ur doing. Oh and by the way I watch ur videos all the time. I found u after I decided to grow my hair to my butt... and did some research. Talk about the laws of attraction. Bye

  • I love your disposition.

  • hello I just want to say you have beautiful hair, I wanted to know how long did you transistion before you did a bc and was your hair really short afterwards?

  • I can tell that your not full black...?

  • If you were so sure, you would not have followed your ignorant statement with a question mark. For your sake I hope that you are a minor. Don't view youtube without your parents' permission.

    happy holidays

  • Yay for healthy hair! Lol!

  • YAY! lol

  • I kept my BC hair for about 8 months in a bag in a closet. Don't know why. Then I finally threw it out!

  • 8 months...6 years...it's all the same lol :p

  • Wonderful words at the end. Love your vids :-)

  • :P

    thanks for watching!

  • that is weird to keep all of youre old hair

  • Your valuable input is most appreciated

  • I know that's right about the healthy perms now I can say that I had beautiful long hair while it was permed and my mother and I didn't follow the rules so it wasn't healthy just because it was long. I wanted to do things the correct way because my hair was paying for it and so was my scalp. I was starting to have thinning edges. I told myself before I learn how to take care of hair with chemicals I need to learn how to do it without them. I see a huge difference and I'll never go back.

  • yes! I am soo glad you said that about people asking you if you are mixed. People do that to me and it's very ignorant. Yes DNA has everything to do with my hair but you do not have to be mixed to have beautiful skin or hair!! grr Great videos and Gorgeous hair!

  • drdawn-

well said, I couldn't agree more. I had to smile at the end of the video. She laid down the law lol

  • how long have you been natural? Thanks (beautiful hair, btw)

  • Anyways one day I hope to take a gentic DNA test so I can see my makeup. Sometimes when my hair is in braids people ask me if I am mixed too. They think I am african or jamacian. I take it as a complement because i think africans and jamacians are beautfiul and exotic.

  • I agree about the mixed thing. I am glad you said that. However I even though I do know we can grow long hair. I am a member of LHCF and BHM and I have transformed my hair around..I do think sometimes we look mixed. Like, I truly believe we are all mixed. I know basically I am black you are black but who's to say down the line there is not someone from Ethopia who contributed to your look or my look. Not necesarily your hair my hair but more so features. Does that make sense?

  • firstly, thank you for setting the record straight about the "are you mixed?" question. i see this a lot in comments on videos put up by brown skin, fully african-american women. kudos to you.

secondly, when you braid your hair, do you always use the murray's wax? what does it do for your hair? and do you cowash with conditioner in between monthly washes? that's it! thanks so much, you are an inspiration. right now i'm texlaxed, but you're making me want to go natural again!

  • hey :)

The wax is to allows for a better grip on the hair so that it's very tight and neat.

i only co wash in braids, otherwise i use poo.

    take care! happy halloween!

  • wow i just love your hair i adore it and is that the amount of hair that usually comes out of your hair when combing

  • love, lOvE, LOVE your hair! I'm going natural too. I'm debating on dreading it or keeping it loose. After seeing your video, I'm leaning towards loose. I'm unsure about my hair texture still because I've had a relaxer since I was 10 or 11. I'm 20 now. Anywho, I have 3 questions: 1)how long did it take your hair to grow to that length after you did the "big chop" 2) what is your hair texture 3) how often and how do you get your ends trimmed (professionally, after blow drying, etc). Thnx!

  • Well said Sis.

  • your hair is gorgeous! How long did it take to grow that long, and are you natural or relaxed?

  • Your hair is beautiful. Congratulations.

  • what do you recommend for thin hair. I wore a wig for year and kept my hair in braids under the wig. I deep condition my hair with aphogee treatment. My hair has grown from above my hair to my shoulder collar bone. My hair is thin, what can I do to thicken my hair. I was natural for a year until three days ago I relaxed my hair. I want to continue my hair growth journey but want to have relax hair. Now I need to thicken my hair. Thanks in advance, T.

  • Well, usually it's a good idea to work on having the maximum thickness possible before the perm because over time perms will thin out your hair further, but the best way to judge the max amt of thickness you can achieve is by seeing how thick the first (approx )2" of hair is from your roots...then if the ends are drastically thinner your hair is breaking. If your hair is breaking all I can sugg is be gentle b/c I don't know your methods of doing your hair or all of the products you use.

  • What type of Hair wax do you use?

  • murrays

  • Ty madame :)

    enjoy your weekend!

  • That an excellent reply to those questions you get about race.

That hairstyle suits your face really nicely.

  • Lol...I exist on YT, but I most certainly exist in real life :^p

I get what you're saying though...a more normal occurance than not.

  • You are soooo gorgeous, and so is your hair! Thanks so much for the inspiration. The whole "mixed" issue is just a sad symptom of ignorance :( Hair is hair, and it grows when you take care of it properly, not because of ethnicity. I'm glad for people like you. Thanks again!! (4 months transitioning)

  • omg, that is soooo sweet of you!!!!

Ty so much! I wish you the very best on your hair journey :)

  • What I cant stand is women who think you have to be mixed to have long hair have they ever thought that if we take the time and the right oils and products our hair can be pass our butts! I guess that never ran across there mines! U DONT HAVE TO BE MIXED TO HAVE LONG HAIR TAKING CARE OF YOUR HAIR AND THE RIGHT ROUTINE FOR YOUR HAIR EQUAL YOU HAVING LONG HAIR!

  • I have learned so much from all of your video! You are such a blessing to me as I try and grow my hair out. Two questions: The braids you had in recently, did your braider add hair (if so what kind) and did you get no-knot braids. Last question- do you recommend doing to african hair braiders, what did you look for in a hair braider? Thank you so much. Also glad to hear school is going well. Keep up the great work!!!

  • It annoys me how some black women have to keep asking other black girls with long hair if their mixed, they dont belueve in their own beauty

rusticbeauty is Nigerian, west african, and people still asking her if she is mixed, when west africans are clearly the leats mixed of black people . People just dont belive in their own blackbeauty

  • preach.

  • @quepasa3000 Tell it. People really need to read and learn about themselves.

  • you were such an inspiration to me I never would have done my BC without seeing your video. Even If my hair never gets as long longs as yours at least i know I tried and I did it! I love Keep it up.

  • Awesome hair, sis! I like this style on you. I'm definitely going to pay close attention to your hair tips.

  • ty so much :)

enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  • Girl you have beautiful hair! I am six months in to my natural hair journey and i can already feel the difference in my hair , by just caring for it! your right when you care for your hair the right way and give it what it needs your hair can grow to any limit!

    Take Care.

  • Ty dear!

yes, make caring for your hair a priotity and growth is bound to follow :)

  • I hear ya... sigh.

The hair on the left side of my head is thicker than my right ;^)

  • I like the thinner side better lol.

  • Girl ya took 'em to church from 4:01! I love it! I love your channel and I love the information! I'm so glad I subbed!

  • lol... ty so much!

    enjoy your weekend :D

  • if you have relaxed hair to retain length can you braid it as well??

  • Honestly I wouldn't recommend it because relaxed hair may break more easily and since the hair strand is straight, it doesn't have as much "give" or elasticity as a healthy non permed strand. If you do get braids, maybe just try to get them done loosely...but if you don't want loose braids, I'd advise against it.

  • google "crown and glory techinque." it's about caring for relaxed hair while in braids.

  • It probably is thicker on one side. The right side of my head is thicker and more dense than the left. It also sheds more, which makes sense, actually.

  • I really appreciate what you've said. I think its importaant foe people to know that Black women can have healthy long hsir. Yours is beautiful and inspiring. Thanks

  • Your videos and your hair journey have inspired me so much I'm going to wear nothing but braid styles for a year to grow my hair out!!! Keep the vids coming love your hair!!!

  • i notice you wear a lot of braids..when you braid your hair do you add weave hair into your braids

  • hey I love your channel I have two questions, I know you said you won't talk about a regimen cause people should do wht works for them but could ou make a vide addressing the best things people need in a regimen not specific conditioners but ya know just the order that works for u. And second question do you ever get single strand knots? Keep doing your thing and I'm glad I found your channel

  • Check out faq vid #1 for the single strand knots :)

I will most definitely make a vid of things that I like to consider "staples"!!!

<3 ty so much for watching!

  • Thank you so much for posting your vids and being so encouraging. I have always believed that black women could grow their hair long because I have a cousin whose hair reached to her buttocks and it was 4a/4b grade hair. She really took care of it. I am mixed, but it has taken me 11 years to learn how to take care of my hair and get it to grow. So, I would say that the ground is level when it comes to growing hair, no matter what race you are!!!

  • Another thing I find hilarious is that whenever a black girl has long hair people automatically assume that you are mixed. I love black people but I am not fond of everything. First off a black girl does not need to be mixed to have long hair. Black folks really need to stop thinking that way. This is why a lot of black girls that you see dont have long hair. Although there are naturals out there with long hair like you, rusticbeauty, herflyness79, and others. Me as well.

  • All in all I don't care too much for relaxed hair. I think black women really need to leave the chemicals alone, truth be told. Work with what you naturally have and stop acting as if chemicals is a cure for the so-called bad hair. It's inane. It's good to have long NATURAL hair. Good video though. God Bless!

  • TY!!

I have been relaxed before so I don't look down upon it, but about 1% of relaxers I've seen looked nice. Relaxers shouldn;t be sold over the counter, it's more dangerous than people like to believe in teh wrong hands (ie parents who perm their 3 y/os hair smh).

  • Beautiful lady, don't get upset for those people, you will find many of them in your life. So, block them what ever, but keep your beautiful happy smile, one of the reason why I watch your videos!!! He,he. Never the less, I understand you, cause if someone says I am Japanese when I have already SAID I am notttttttt, that would be disturbing right? He,he. Loves and kisses from Japan, Keep the good work, Your hair in an inspiration for many of us.

  • Ty so much bethcristin! There are many things in life to get upset over, but as I mature over the years, I realize that this isn't one of them lol. I was more annoyed than upset because it's such a common occurance. If people who think like that and aren't willing to view facts for facts then I just wanted to make them aware of their fate lol.

    *hugsssss*

    stay safe and be well!

  • Ahh!! How is your skin problem going? I hope you are getting better, remember coconut oil is great, I mix it with a cream and use it everyday. I also olive oil soup is great so remember it!! Love from Japan.

  • i thought that way to. that only mixed people had long hair i had to check myself and learn how to take care of my hair and it's growing so thanks for being honest

  • I'd like to thank you for being honest as well. I will admit that it takes some conscious effort...possibly more than other races/nationalities, but when this is normal hair for US we need not think about others and what they have.We all have naturally GORGEOUS hair as well and we will learn how to take care of it together.

    be well :)

  • Excellent comment. I've been learning sooooooooooo many things will alllllllll of you. I am so happy really. My hair was a mess a couple of months ago. I've never been natural since I am like 9 years old, so, no way to know how to take care of my hair, that by the way, is a mix of my African and European roots. I've 3a and 3c in my head!!! I really have like 3 textures. It is a difficult hair, butttttttt, I've been learning to love it and embrace it. I feel very happy with it. Tks to you all!!

  • after you did your big chop, is there anything in particular that you put in your hair to thicken it?

  • not at all. Relaxers thin out hair over time, when I stopped getting them my hair returned to its natural thickness.

  • How long has it been since ur big chop?

  • I think a lot of people's hair is like that longer or thicker on one side. Mine always has been. Some people are so caught up in the misconception that black women cannot have long hair that they will "force" being mixed on you. LOL. I mean sheesh Oprah isn't mixed with anything is she and far as I know all her hair is real and she's grown it back several times. I guess we'll see if it's real when Chris Rock puts his hands all up in it today on the show. LOL

  • Maybe it can also be said...A woman is not less valuable or beautiful if she doesn´t have long hair...luv u guys...Thanks for the discussion:-))

  • That is so true. I look better with shorter hair myself but I just try to grow it because I think it's easier to take care of when it's long and takes less time to do, like those two long braids, a ponytail, etc. I'm kinda lazy I guess. I did the big chop 3 years ago, but he longer my hair gets the less I do to it. I'm about to put it in braids for the winter and just let it sit. LOL

  • Please make sure that you don't fall victim to matting by leaving in braids for a long period of time. If you are already aware or want to do your own thing, I completely respect and understand that. I just want to put it out there :)

    best wishes

  • sooo true...women want long hair so quickly that don't realize that most times they are hindering their growth and breaking pre-existing hair by putting so much "stuff" into it and manipulating it so much. Once your hair is healthy, length should follow suit.

  • yur hair is absolutely SEXY! lol.

  • lol, ty :)

    take care

  • Healthy relaxed hair on YouTube: alraines

  • yes, alraines is great!

  • even though you got the -1

ty lol, because relaxed ladies need some special attention as well :)

  • Yeah don't know what's up with the -1. Just my opinion. I watched her vids eventhough I was transitioning back to natural. I think she's great too. Great tips. Long hair.

  • First I would like to say I love your hair and I like that you wear your hair natural, its looks very healthy. I am considering flat ironing my hair to take a better look at my ends and to see my current length. Any suggestions on how to protect your hair while completing this process. This is only a once a year thing for me.

  • The only thing i'd sugg is heat protectant and to not place oil on the hair and if you must VERY sparingly. Since this is a 1x a year thing for you i'm sure you'll be just fine :)

p.s also, don't leave the heat on the hair too long even if it's not as straight as you like. Let the hair cool and then try again.

    gl!

  • The whole "Are you mixed" thing in reference to being able to have long hair is gettin on my nerves too. I can see if it's being asked to understand hair texture and curl patterns..but hair growth is possible for Black women.

  • seriously....

I don't care why anyone asks...BLOCK. So many women use it to take away from who the person is and that's borderline disgusting. I want people to focus on how to grow their own, not make excuses as to why they can't.

  • And I agree.

  • Longhairdontcare- I really like your protective styles! From reviewing your vids, am I correct in saying that you blow dry before you braid?

Also, my hair is not as thick as yours and its at APL. I want to protective style more but I get sick of twists and I find more breakage when I do them. Any suggestions for thin hair? I understand if you don't have any. Thanks!

  • Ty so much! They are boring to me, but maybe b/c it's been the same for almost 6 years lol.

You are 100% correct in saying that my hair is blown out, but I just want to make sure that you know that I don't plan on blowing it out each time, only 1x per month no matter what.

OMG twists did a number on my hair! How do you feel about buns? I have 3 buns that I like to do and will do a vid/s on them, also braids that have a feminine style or twists that stay on your scalp as if they were braids

  • I actually have done buns for the longest and I don't think that they are that flattering on my heart shaped face. :-(

I also think that it stresses my hairline. I will check out the 3 buns vids when you do them. I also may try to experiment more with the flat two strand twists.

  • I don't know if the front of your hair is short enough, but since you have a heart shaped face...you can braid or tightly twist some hair in the front, take it aloose in the next day/morning, but only in the front while having a semi tight bun in the back. i'd suggest an updo, but they aren't as protective as buns.

so basically it's like a braid/twistout in the front to relieve your edges and frame your face, but protection of your length in the back. I will be exploring more styles l8er on

  • Great video!!!! I love the way you keep it so real. Keep doin your thing girl. You are my hair inspiration. :-)

  • Ty so much for watching! I wish you the best on your hair journey!!

    be well

  • I see that question asked a lot on you tube. Thanks for setting it straight. Oh, and my hair is thicker on one side too. Lol!

  • Silly right? It irks me when I see it on any youtube vid, whether it be mine or someone elses. When will we stop giving credit to every other races/nationalities when it's clearly not due and start acknowledging that we are capable of healthy hair WITHOUT BEING MIXED. lol

  • Another informative video! I'm assuming that the hair loss after your braids was due to shedding since 50 to 100 hairs per day is considered normal? I'd like to know more about the haircut for your formerly layered natural hair. Thanks!

  • Goodness videowizard I hope so...I almost got out the calculator and counted the hairs on this one lol. I was soooo devastated...and there was more in the shower :(. A break from braids is a must..unless it was seasonal shedding.

    take care! :)

  • how long did it take to braid yoour hair? it takes me almost an hour and my hair is uper short compare to yours....but it crazy curly....do u usually get someone to braid your hair?

  • The 2 braids took about 20 mins because of how gentle I like to be with the hair. Kudos to you for braiding your hair while it's curly, I would NEVER lol.

    be well

  • who taught you how to braid and how long have u been braidin it?

I agree with ur saying..BLACK WOMEN can grow long hair..lol U dont have to be mixed..grrr!

  • I taught myself after many times of messing up people's hair lol. They'd say..can you braid and i'd say yes, then leave them with loose twists in their hair lol...but at least I learned :)

    :D

  • What is the main thing that you attribute to thick hair.

  • gently combing my hair so that I lose as little as possible. I read that hair has a life span of 4 years, so it's important to keep each strand as long as possible by not ripping or breaking it off.

    thanks for watching :)

  • I had to rewind a few time just to get a look at those THICK and beautiful braids. Thank you reiterating that it is the methodology of care that leads to long healthy hair, and not genetics. Thanks for the videos. They are inspirational!

  • I sooo appreciate you watching...some people will never learn and i'm ok with it until you start denying me my heritage lol.

The funny thing is, if I had *snap* that much hair no one would question my nationality. lol

  • Thank you for taking the time of making these videos. I can't wait to grow my hair longer. I just truly need to perfect my regimen and that's a huge challenge of mine.

I definitely saw the difference between your relaxed hair and shed hair. Why did you keep the relax hair, though? lol :) Take Care.

  • Goodness, no problem AT ALL! Ty so much for watching :)

I was hoping that no one asked why I saved the hair lmao...i'm a lil hair crazy :( lol.

Gl perfecting your regimen and beware that it's ok if you need to change products over time, I've done that as well, but try to start simple with products and incorporate new ones as you feel is needed.

    be well :D
