You HAVE to duplicate the host file. So you need to have the original host file and a notepad file. Therefore, you are supposed to "save as" not simply "save " over original.

i know how to fix it know .. when u go to start menu then go to accesories then right click on notepad and press run as adminastrator then it will open and click file open then go to the bottom right where it says text documents and change it to say all files then click hosts and type the url address on there and click save and it should work

for vista->move the "hosts" file onto the desktop temporarily. Right click->Edit with-Notepad. Modify the file and save. Now take that "hosts" file and drag (or copy-paste) onto the "etc" folder. Hope that works for you too :) You're welcome...

To get "Run", you go to; Start, All Programs, Accessories, Run. This did not work for me however. I went to Computer and found all the files stated that way, e.g. Computer, C://, System32, Drivers, Ect. Hope this helped. Please leave comments on channel! Thanks, Bye!

HERE IS THE SOLUTION OF, if it says "cannot create... make sure the path and file name is correct"

All u have 2 do is on the hosts button left click to it and click properties, then On the top middle it says security, click on it, there should be a box saying USER, which is your user name, click on it, then press edit, the n click on the FULL CONTROL box under the allow button, click apply and OK, then your done try to save this time, if there is any problems then replay me, enjoy.

Just figured it out, thanks. Apparently I am an administrator, but I have to right click in the start menu on notepad then click "run as administrator". I guess for me I have to not only be an administrator, but "run" it as administrator.

Now I get why it kept saying "ask administrator for this permission" even though I was one.
