this woman and her cohorts' horrific crimes is the main reason why i strongly support capital punishment. brutality at it's worst, especially when a pregnant woman is involved.
If this woman convinces you in anyway, then google the tate/la bianca crime scene photos. Just to see Sharon covered in blood, with stab womb punctures and her pregnant belly lying there wants you to make sure these f***ing monsters never get to see the light of day in this physical reality.
Whether on drugs, or influence by a deranged sociopathic nutter, she still had a choice. The crimes she commited were so brutal and sadistic, there is no way society and myself would want this woman to be free. She can repent as much as she can, but there is a cause and effect here, and that cannot be undone.
Oh so Lucid! She was a chameleon who rose to challenges like an evil conniver. Never once did she or the others contact directly those victim's familiy survivors. They should stay where they are. She died right where she deserved to be. BTW Jesus Christ deserves a lot more RESPECT than what she and the other so-called cheap jailhouse born agains try to preach.
Has anyone noticed that Atkins gave different versions of the "I found Jesus" crap, over the years? Here it's 1972, but during a 1978 interview, she said she found jesus in 76.
Frankly, I think the fact that she became a "born-again Christian" is a BAD sign; it shows that she is still very easily led into delusional thinking. Just once I'd like to see an inmate say to a parole board: "I've realized that I was easily brainwashed, and after long, careful studying, I am an atheist."
It has been said that God forgives everybody for their sins even when there are sins that are beyond human forgiveness. Human forgiveness came when she drew her last breath and she died of cancer. Why is it that mass murderer's like her and Charles Watson only find Jesus Christ after committing their dastardly deeds? It may be worthy of admiration that she has confessed to her sins and has asked for forgiveness, but it must not obscure or erase the fact of what she did.
To bad that there aren't any posting of the full and complete parole hearings. They use to be posted here on You Tube. Now you only get bits and pieces of a few hearings.
You know what's funy "I found jesus in 1972" Wow, I don't even think God etc are real and I don't go around killing people. So why would finding Jesus make you better?
I Think we are ABSOLUTELY CONFUSING EVERYTHING HERE. She was denied parole every single time she asked for it, because they wanted her to pay for ever her crimes, not because she was remorsed or not. I TRULY believe that woman changed over the last 40 years, however, they're keeping her in prision because she had a duty with justice for ever. no matter how she changed or how remorsed she is, she gotta stay there
Wait...I 'm confused . When she said that in 1974 she accepted Jesus Christ as her own personal savior , was she talking about Charlie again !! hehehe......
unbelievable, i would never ever forgive someone who killed my sister. words from susan atkins to sharon tate, after she begged her to let her live,"look bitch your gonna die and you better get used to it." that women could have helped her get away but she chose instead to stick the knife in. if there is a hell she is definately in it.

Susan is the most dignified, gracious person in that room. Compare her calm voice and demenour with Debra Tate. Debra Tate comes across as hateful, intolerant, and self rightous. -She may be trying to hide that, but she's not doing a good job.
When God looks at the sum total of Susan's life, she will be just fine. I have no doubt she is in heaven right now.
From what I see of Debra Tate, she has alot of work to do. Not disrespecting Polanski's rape victim would be a start.
You have no reason or business offering ms. atkins forgiveness. That is between her and god,she did nothing to you.B.T.W,stating facts is not judgement.Atkins escaped the gas chamber, lived 40 more years and died with her loved ones by her side!!What about sharon tate, crying out into the night for her mother??!!Atkins response,i have no mercy for you!!
She replaced Charlie with Jesus. Big deal. She switched one messiah for another. Why do murderers almost always "find Jesus" in prison? Where was Jesus when they were out free, killing people? It's such a lame crutch.
Couldnt agree with you more , so many killers suddenly become " Christians " after they've been banged up . Well bully for them I say , it doesnt alter the fact that they committed the most vile crimes imaginable . I get sick of reading about scum like Susan Atkins who , surprise surprise , found Jesus . Do they really think that it makes them seem better people ? Like hell it does , they are evil to the core . She's dead now & the only thing I can say about that is good , hope she rots in Hell
@larrynod Why indeed. So what if they find God and accept Christ as their savior? Being a born again Christian does not entitle them to a "get out of jail free" card. She died paralayzed on one side of her body and one leg amputated and her body ravaged by cancer. That's her punishment.
If she really wanted to take responsibility for her crimes, she would of served her sentence and kept her mouth shut! The victim;s families have to relive this horrid crimes, everytime they have to go to one of these circus hearings!Remorse,i think not!!!!!
well put...if she was remorseful and a changed woman, why put Tate's sister through this horror at each parole.....society can never be paid back by her crime. a juror gave a life sentence, she got it, she served it. justice.
ppl like that are dangerous I bet if jesus christ told her to kill, she would do it , kus she claim's she turned her life to jesus christ, stupid cunt, rest in piss soon
She had a choice in 1969... Sharon Tate and the others had no choice. They wanted to live but the choice was in Susan Atkins hands, she had the chance to show mercy but did not take the opportunity
She's very articulate. I have no doubt on some level she is being honest. However, many of us live with the choices we've made. I cannot insist that I be exused from the responsiblity of my acts. I can only change my behavior. That's how I see Susan Atkins. If she is contributing or has contributed to others in prison, good for her and them. That does not exuse her from what she has done. My thoughts are with the victims' families.
Beautifully said...I truly believe if Susan Atkins were released that she would NOT be a danger to society. That being said, she should NEVER be released!
Someone who took life the way she did has something really twisted in his soul. To stab a helpless pregnant woman and say that you have no mercy for her or her unborn child...nothing can justify or explain this sensless cruelty. If I were her, I think the least I could have done is to spare the victims family the need to come and confront her every time. She should stay in prison, nothing is waiting for such a person in a civilized and human society.
Yeah I really dont understand that, why they spent so much money for medical care for a murderer. Shes talking about amends to society and repaying but she'll let society shell out a million bucks for her
I agree, the fact that she's using Jesus as her "personal lord and savior" says that she really hasn't learned a thing. Just a going through the motions of what she thinks everyone wants to hear. It is "lip service" she's giving. If she had any conscience at all, she would accept her fate and live out her days in prison. She is responsible for the deaths of at least SIX people.
I am saddened by the degree of mercilessness, hatred, and vengeance that is shown in many of the comments. I do not worry about Susan Atkins being released. She is a person who has spent 40 years doing good and making amends. It is those of you whose hearts are filled with hatred and judgment that I am afraid of, and you seem to be on the outside.
GET HER OUT!!! then give me her adddress and I'll take care of it! I will make sure she pays for what she done! not sit in comfy cell watching tv and doin s**it for my money! she will know what pain means! but seriously I don't think se should come out for her own safety cos too many people are out there who would do the justice
Jesus Christ stated in 1 John 3:15, "ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." Atkins should have been dispatched to jugement already.
Her husband makes me sick,he keeps trying to defend her (how can ANY1 defend a MURDERER I'll never know) but failing miserably. You could tell by the way he was sitting he knew he was wasting his time.
i'm surprised you honestly think she's a threat to civilisation and to others. she's an old woman who was party to an awful crime forty years ago, not an animal with a bizarre hatred for all life. i can't see any reason other than revenge that she's in prison now, and i think the justice system should be above revenge.
as for protecting her, high profile criminals have been given new identities before, why couldn't she?
Whose side are you on? If she had killed your pregnant sister, would you still say that? She DID help to kill Sharon, she just changed her story so they'd let her out or give her a lesser sentence.
I don't know if she is still a threat to society-the way she refused to speak to the doctor is very suspect-but apparently the parole board thinks she is,because they didn't let her out.
i didn't say she never took part in the murders, and it's not about taking sides. that's the kind of thinking that enables a petty justice system. if you read all the comments here, including yours, everybody is incredibly passionate about the subject, it's also in the men and women denying rehabilitated prisoners parole. the justice system should rehabilitate previously destructive people, not spend tax payer money keeping them in a cell or releasing them worse than they went in.
I think that's a harmful and irrational attitude to harbour. You can't bottle up so much hatred for a rehabilitated prisoner and still pretend that you've the better morals. I look at Atkins and see a woman involved in a horrific crime who has spent the better part of forty years making amends and doing more good than you or I have ever done, when I read these posts I see irrational hatred and hypocrisy. Atkins has the moral high ground here, and that's sad.
ebonyflesh: I do not have hatred in my heart for her. Quite the contrary, I feel sadness and sympathy at the tragic losses from this time. However, that being said, I still believe that these individuals should pay for their crimes. If for no other reason, it is for the healing of the victims families. The families deserve to see justice for these crimes. It is so easy to forget about the victims families and to judge them. Imagine the horrible pain they have suffered.
No, prison should not be about rehabilitation. It is and should be a place to which people who are a threat to the continuation of civilization are removed humanely. This is especially true when it comes to murder. Maybe not things like theft, but murder definitely. It's wrong to hold someone long overdue in prison for a petty crime if they say they have learned their lesson. That is wrong. But it's not wrong if it is done for a murderer.
She must NEVER be released...to release her makes a mockery of the foul and cruel cold blooded murder the victims had to suffer
True REMORSE can only be demonstrated by withdrawing all applications for parole...
if she was truly remorseful then she would accept the consequences with grace and live out her time in prison bettering herself and helping her community and NOT putting the victims' families through a continual horrendous ordeal of the parole process
sadie says, "look at my record" ok let's look, giggled in court then convicted of 8 murders, nothing after that counts. i noticed susie aint gigglin' now whenever they talk about the murders. don't worry sadie if the city wont bury you Lord knows the county will
I don't understand why you sentence someone for life imprisonment and have a parole hearing about whether you're gonna release him or not. A crime that warrants life imprisonment in 1969 still warrants life imprisonment in 2008.
Can you elaborate, and extend this, as a referral, and understanding. You're comments, seems interesting enough, that govern with the U.S laws, but is still misunderstood at least by me.
What I'm saying basically is time doesn't make a crime any lesser. Life imprisonment with the possibility of parole doesn't make sense. If multiple murder was heinous enough that they sentenced a person for life imprisonment/death penalty in 1969, then there should be no talk of parole even if it's 40 years later. Why bother with so much trouble trying the case and studying the sentence when it's not going to stand years later? The crime is still multiple murder, it didn't change.
thanks for the response, and a more in depth look at this heinous act, and premeditated act, at that. This will go down as ONE of the most in-famous cases in US history.
When is Atkins going to die? I thought she was termanally ill? She must be scared to death to die all those souls waiting for her to pass over to the next life?
I noticed a few things: 1.) Susan stabbed her ex-husband while he was visiting her over a weekend, back in the 90s. Why doesn't ANYONE mention this fact? 2.)Leno and Rosemary LaBianca's niece is present at Atkins's Parole Hearing (dressed in black with the sleeveless shirt), why? Atkins did NOT participate NOR was she present at the LaBianca's home, at the time of the murders. BTW-Atkins is a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR-she's changed her stories a minimum of 5 times, over the past 35 years!
I stand corrected, there were 7 Manson family members, total, in the car that led the murderers over to the LaBianca's home. Susan, was amongst the 7. Susan never went in the house but she none the less, she played a part in the LaBianca's murders. I'm glad their niece appeared at Atkin's Parole Hearing.
Hoganland...the issue here is: does the parole board release a killer back on society or Not. If you want a platform for the U.S. Government then find that website....otherwise butt out, or better yet contribute something that is germane to this issue. And BTW your lame remarks about the Parole Board personal should be also directed in the proper forum...
Of all the MASON family killers ATKINS was the only person man or woman that went evrytime to kill fron HINDMAN to the Libianca's and God only knows who else these people have murdered! ATKINS is the last person that should be paroled!
Atkins was NOT present at the LaBianca's, for the murders or at anytime. I am not sure why the DA and Parole Board wants so BADLY to link her to their murders. She obviously knew about them but as much as I do agree with you, she's the last person who deserves parole, she still was NOT involved in their murders!
I stand by my statement Atkins went both nights of the 8th and 9th, She did not go into the LaBianca's house but she drove there with Manson and that makes her guilty by association. Atkins has the clossal gaul to ask for mercy after all the horrible things she said and did to Sharon. If she were a christian she would have served her time and stop making the family go to parole hearings opening new scabs over and over .........
more than that i hope she cannot sleep and realizes until her last breathe the millions of people hoping she dies a painful death and we all hate her ass. enjoy the tumor ASSHOLE

Whats the point ?! American army killed so many civilians in Afganistan and Irag or Vietnam and they were never convicted of any crime or anything ! Susan Atkins who is an American women has to pay with her life in prison for killing Sharon Tate ! I think they should let her go after nearly 40 years in prison ! These parole boards need to follow the law in California !

Good citizens ? Good citizens would keep Americas borders closed to keep other criminals from South America away from our country! People like president Bush and other politics deserve capital punishment for kiling thousands of young American people in this stupid war in Irag and Afganistan ! Atkins might be cold bloded killer but has remorse and is going to die no matter what! Do you need more examples of good citizens ?
Yes, I do ask for mercy. She did not kill 8 (conspiracy yes, murder no) But the number is not at issue. What she did was horrific. She has served MORE time than most murderers. Are celebrity lives worth more? I think not. The notoriety of her case has kept her in prison much longer than others with similar offences. Those that work with her feel that she has been rehabilitated. Finally, she is dying. Do we practice cruel & unusual behavior to fight cruel & unusual behavior?
I don't think it is cruel at all to keep her ALIVE in prison. Everything that she has claimed to achieved she has done so in prison. That is, everything "good" that she knows of is because of prison. The fact that she is "good" is actually the fact that she is "good" because she is in prison. In fact, prison allowed her to give a new purpose, a new meaning to her life. People's mercy has kept her alive in prison.
Susan Atkins along with her so called family killed many people not just celebritys. But the fact that they did kill a movie star in BEL AIR was a major mistake for them. None of the main family members will ever get out of there California cages. Just like if they were cop killers or tried to kill a president like Ford they are being made an example how dare you hurt one of ours. Anyway I wouldn't want them for a neighbor if they did get out.

C'mon staunch! She's more famous NOW then she was before her murder! It was the murders themselves that make it so horrible, AND the fact that she was 8 and a half months pregas!
I guess we will never know if Sharon would have won an oscar she was only 26 when she was killed . But she made at least nine films(more than James Dean) with heavy hitters like Dean Martin, Tony Cutis, Orsen Wells, Susan Hayward, Judy Garland (who was fired from the film) "Valley of the Dolls" on and on. And Sharon was the female lead at least five of those plus she did a lot of television. Sharon is underrated as an actress and it's probably because of the horrible way she died?
Every time I think of the way she and the others died, I feel sick. So beautiful, so young and so pregnant. You realise that something like that could happen to any of us! This world is FAR sicker now then back in the 60's! You should see some of the brutal and cruel murders WE have in Australia alone!
Her wishes to making ammends is not REDEMPTION it is asking for a favor, is not? When she works to help others isn't she working for her own selfish desires?
I can't look in the heart of another & see what their desires are. Her accomplishments are noteworthy. Furthermore, it is reported that Ms. Tate asked for mercy &, as we know, it was denied. Should we embrace that type of evil to fight evil? Respectfully, I think not. Again, mercy is most needed when it is least deserved. I lost a brother at a young age to brain cancer. It is a horrible death. Her prison is now her dying body. Does it matter so much?
respectfully speaking, I think you're making the mistake of equating Atkins with your brother simply because they've been diagnosed with the same problem. Whether Atkins deserves cancer is not what I'm debating over. All I'm saying is that mercy was shown by not killing her in the same way she killed Tate i.e. by not killing her with the same amount of insane hate. The state, the people, have shown patience and kept her alive. When alive she had the pleasure of helping those in need.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Certainly, losing a brother to brain cancer has given me an empathy for anyone facing this horrible disease. I do understand your point about Atkins lack of mercy. I question the need to keep a dying person in prison especially when one considers she has served longer than people convicted of similar crimes (multiple murder & conspiracy). It would seem that the notoriety of her case is a large part of the reason for her continued incarceration.
I believe we are at our best when we choose charity. Mercy is most needed when it is the least deserved. Atkins has had a leg amputated & is dying from brain cancer. Show mercy & release her to her family's care.
are you for real? ARE YOU REALLY showing mercy or are you being ignorant? The fact that she is ALIVE for all these years. The fact that she was able to GET MARRIED and "accomplish" things in prison. THE FACT that she was able to learn and study art and be ABLE to express herself through it. THE FACT that society allowed her the CHANCE to do all that DESPITE her MURDERING 8 people is MERCY enough. ANYTHING besides that will be ignoring the "accomplishments" that the dead culd achiev.
gee maybe they might think about giving parole if every sentence out of her mouth didn't start with "ME" or "I". she's all about herself. it's all about what SHE feels & what SHE'S done. what about the victims & their families?

Susan's world turned upside down when she was 13 and her mother died, questioning her belief and faith in God - with no family support system, a child truly lost. She desperately sought answers and like others was programmed by CM, like others to do whatever CM asked. She is a sad remorseful elegant woman about to turn 60; the time for parole has come. More is understood about cults now and impact of the vulnerable. It is now time for compassion for her.
So what!! I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was 13 and my dad died in a car accident two years later. My grandparents picked up where my parents left off and I've never done drugs, I'm college educated and I've NEVER KILLED ANYONE. SA needs to stay in prison till she DIES!! If she is truly remorseful, she needs to suspend all efforts at parole and give back to the people of CA the death penalty that she was originally given.
"She is a sad remorseful elegant woman about to turn 60;" She would cut your fucking heart out in a second if it suited her purposes. Do you think someone who carves up a pregnant woman is going to magically turn into a decent person from being thrown in the slammer? They should've smoked her crazy ass a long time ago.

She's in there- Im out here. I never took another life- but this woman has done more for society since her crime than I probably ever will never having committed her crime.
ANYONE that would suck your own baby's penis and kill a pregnant woman is SHIT! I don't care who told her to do what she didn't have to do anything! I have no pity for her she deserves worst than she got.
We all make choices when we are young. Susan as well as the other family members keep saying that they were young and on drugs, and also brainwashed. That as it may be, they chose to do the drugs, they chose to associate with Manson, but young, on drugs, or pressured into it by manson, Susan still knew right from wrong. She got lucky, and had the death penalty removed. That should be the extent of her luck in the Judicial System. There is no such thing as a used to be cold blooded killer.
Her reformed attitude is begging for a revaluation of her image. Tough luck Susan, but when you commit a crime of murder so heinous as you did, it becomes permanently irreversible mentally rather than communicatively.
and 3 : if she felt REAL unselfish remorse & guilt she would not try to IMPRESS & APPEAL but say " NO, i DESERVE to stay & die in jail for my crimes" etc. ; she would have more chance of being freed then. Of course she NEVER will get out for the reasons ive said AND MANY OTHER REASONS.Severe sociopaths such as Atkins are in many ways not COMPLETE people or personalities ; theyre maldeveloped emotionally & severely emotionally immature
Thing is guilt & remorse are NOT represented by ACTIONS or WORDS but true FEELINGS verbally expressed or NOT - for this ALONE Atkins cannot be conclusively evaluated positively EVER as only SHE knows how she feels no matter what she SAYS. 1 : Sociopaths are characteristically ACTORS who merely MIMIC real feelings such as GUILT & EMPATHY for their own selfish wants as theyre UNABLE to feel them ; 2 : They see people as OBJECTS rather than BEINGS to be useful to THEM only ;
David Berkowitz ("Son of Sam") is also a born-again Christian. But he has never asked for parole. He admits that he deserves to be where he is. I consider him a good Christian witness.
I'd heard of his case before and that he had become a Christian but I couldn't remember his name. Thanks for the reminder. Maybe his case is on YouTube, as well. I'll look it up.
Why talk this shit when she will never get out of prison...aahh the system!! Rehash horror ..over and over...and they all get religion dont they. Hell shes a dam preacher now.. Shut the F up and get back to your cell.. murderer, shut up bitch..youre going top die...in prision..Lawyers, hang em all!!
"Passivity"? She was an active murderer--stabbing Hinman, smothering him to death, exhorting Tex to kill Steven Parent, stabbing Frykowski initially and helping Tex finish him off, and restraining and stabbing Sharon Tate.
She did not state that she was not active in these murders. By passivity she means that without question she simply allowed herself and others to follow through in a course of action. Her inability to do what was right is intricately tied into her inability to question Manson. Bugliosi convicted Manson on that premise. "Manson's Minions".
Hmmm...William Calley gets off with only 3 1/2 years. Every other war criminal from Vietnam as well as the National Guardsmen at Kent State walk off scott free and the Manson Family should rot for killing 7 rich, white people in Beverly Hills? That's justice? Now all you holier than thou idiots, tell me, how many of you know who William Calley is?
William Calley gets off with 3 1/2 years...the Nation gaurd at Kent state walked off scott free..and the manson family should STILL ROT IN PRISION!!..what do the first examples have to do with the manson family?
Even if we didn't know, they've got this thing called google...guys like you who insult noone and everyone all at once, and think you're the only guy who 'gets' apocalypse now should wake up...one injustice does not negate the need for justice...peace
if that is what you think this case is about, then you need to go look at the crime scene photos. they didn't kill these people. they butchered them . and it was 7 and a half.. you forgot an inncocent baby who was never given the chance to live.
Theres no "fine line" between justice and vindictiveness here. She murdered a pregnant woman in cold blood, and others. This is exactly what she should get, life in prison. When she can raise her victims up and give them back what she took away, then let her out.
This woman is as guilty now as she was in '69. Sorry Susan there is no turning back, you live better than our homeless or elderly, you have a roof over you, 3 meals a day and a bed, be thankful honey it's your home for (hopefully) the rest of your life !

I felt like the crimes the Manson family committed were an affront to the whole nation. That's why I said it. I wasn't speaking on behalf of God.
Regarding judgement:
Facts, no problem. You said you didn't believe she was remorseful. You are entitled to your opinion; but you don't know her heart.

She is responsible for the deaths of at least SIX people.

wiseoldlady7 2 years ago 4
i'm surprised you honestly think she's a threat to civilisation and to others. she's an old woman who was party to an awful crime forty years ago, not an animal with a bizarre hatred for all life. i can't see any reason other than revenge that she's in prison now, and i think the justice system should be above revenge.
as for protecting her, high profile criminals have been given new identities before, why couldn't she?
ebonyflesh69 2 years ago
Whose side are you on? If she had killed your pregnant sister, would you still say that? She DID help to kill Sharon, she just changed her story so they'd let her out or give her a lesser sentence.
I don't know if she is still a threat to society-the way she refused to speak to the doctor is very suspect-but apparently the parole board thinks she is,because they didn't let her out.
Good for them.
wiseoldlady7 2 years ago 5
i didn't say she never took part in the murders, and it's not about taking sides. that's the kind of thinking that enables a petty justice system. if you read all the comments here, including yours, everybody is incredibly passionate about the subject, it's also in the men and women denying rehabilitated prisoners parole. the justice system should rehabilitate previously destructive people, not spend tax payer money keeping them in a cell or releasing them worse than they went in.
ebonyflesh69 2 years ago
ebonyflesh: What you call revenge, many other people call JUSTICE.
MrsSarb 2 years ago 2
I think that's a harmful and irrational attitude to harbour. You can't bottle up so much hatred for a rehabilitated prisoner and still pretend that you've the better morals. I look at Atkins and see a woman involved in a horrific crime who has spent the better part of forty years making amends and doing more good than you or I have ever done, when I read these posts I see irrational hatred and hypocrisy. Atkins has the moral high ground here, and that's sad.
ebonyflesh69 2 years ago
ebonyflesh: I do not have hatred in my heart for her.
MrsSarb 2 years ago
No, prison should not be about rehabilitation. It is and should be a place to which people who are a threat to the continuation of civilization are removed humanely. This is especially true when it comes to murder. Maybe not things like theft, but murder definitely. It's wrong to hold someone long overdue in prison for a petty crime if they say they have learned their lesson. That is wrong. But it's not wrong if it is done for a murderer.

I don't understand why you sentence someone for life imprisonment and have a parole hearing about whether you're gonna release him or not. A crime that warrants life imprisonment in 1969 still warrants life imprisonment in 2008.
mawriz 3 years ago
um they were sentenced to death but it was later commuted to life in parole with the possibilty of parole.

Can you elaborate, and extend this, as a referral, and understanding. You're comments, seems interesting enough, that govern with the U.S laws, but is still misunderstood at least by me.
Alexe84 3 years ago
What I'm saying basically is time doesn't make a crime any lesser. Life imprisonment with the possibility of parole doesn't make sense. If multiple murder was heinous enough that they sentenced a person for life imprisonment/death penalty in 1969, then there should be no talk of parole even if it's 40 years later. Why bother with so much trouble trying the case and studying the sentence when it's not going to stand years later? The crime is still multiple murder, it didn't change.
mawriz 3 years ago
thanks for the response, and a more in depth look at this heinous act, and premeditated act, at that. This will go down as ONE of the most in-famous cases in US history.

StaunchComic 3 years ago
I noticed a few things: 1.) Susan stabbed her ex-husband while he was visiting her over a weekend, back in the 90s. Why doesn't ANYONE mention this fact? 2.)Leno and Rosemary LaBianca's niece is present at Atkins's Parole Hearing (dressed in black with the sleeveless shirt), why? Atkins did NOT participate NOR was she present at the LaBianca's home, at the time of the murders. BTW-Atkins is a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR-she's changed her stories a minimum of 5 times, over the past 35 years!
irshgrl500 3 years ago 5
I stand corrected, there were 7 Manson family members, total, in the car that led the murderers over to the LaBianca's home. Susan, was amongst the 7. Susan never went in the house but she none the less, she played a part in the LaBianca's murders. I'm glad their niece appeared at Atkin's Parole Hearing.

StaunchComic 3 years ago 4
Atkins was NOT present at the LaBianca's, for the murders or at anytime. I am not sure why the DA and Parole Board wants so BADLY to link her to their murders. She obviously knew about them but as much as I do agree with you, she's the last person who deserves parole, she still was NOT involved in their murders!
irshgrl500 3 years ago
I stand by my statement Atkins went both nights of the 8th and 9th, She did not go into the LaBianca's house but she drove there with Manson and that makes her guilty by association. Atkins has the clossal gaul to ask for mercy after all the horrible things she said and did to Sharon. If she were a christian she would have served her time and stop making the family go to parole hearings opening new scabs over and over .........

Choose mercy.
Pathos57 3 years ago
I don't think it is cruel at all to keep her ALIVE in prison. Everything that she has claimed to achieved she has done so in prison. That is, everything "good" that she knows of is because of prison. The fact that she is "good" is actually the fact that she is "good" because she is in prison. In fact, prison allowed her to give a new purpose, a new meaning to her life. People's mercy has kept her alive in prison.
rintrah81 3 years ago 2
Susan Atkins along with her so called family killed many people not just celebritys. But the fact that they did kill a movie star in BEL AIR was a major mistake for them. None of the main family members will ever get out of there California cages. Just like if they were cop killers or tried to kill a president like Ford they are being made an example how dare you hurt one of ours. Anyway I wouldn't want them for a neighbor if they did get out.

StaunchComic 3 years ago
Every time I think of the way she and the others died, I feel sick. So beautiful, so young and so pregnant. You realise that something like that could happen to any of us! This world is FAR sicker now then back in the 60's! You should see some of the brutal and cruel murders WE have in Australia alone!
meljane1970 3 years ago 4
Her wishes to making ammends is not REDEMPTION it is asking for a favor, is not? When she works to help others isn't she working for her own selfish desires?
rintrah81 3 years ago
I can't look in the heart of another & see what their desires are. Her accomplishments are noteworthy. Furthermore, it is reported that Ms. Tate asked for mercy &, as we know, it was denied. Should we embrace that type of evil to fight evil? Respectfully, I think not. Again, mercy is most needed when it is least deserved. I lost a brother at a young age to brain cancer. It is a horrible death. Her prison is now her dying body. Does it matter so much?
Pathos57 3 years ago
respectfully speaking, I think you're making the mistake of equating Atkins with your brother simply because they've been diagnosed with the same problem. Whether Atkins deserves cancer is not what I'm debating over. All I'm saying is that mercy was shown by not killing her in the same way she killed Tate i.e. by not killing her with the same amount of insane hate. The state, the people, have shown patience and kept her alive. When alive she had the pleasure of helping those in need.
rintrah81 3 years ago
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Certainly, losing a brother to brain cancer has given me an empathy for anyone facing this horrible disease. I do understand your point about Atkins lack of mercy. I question the need to keep a dying person in prison especially when one considers she has served longer than people convicted of similar crimes (multiple murder & conspiracy). It would seem that the notoriety of her case is a large part of the reason for her continued incarceration.

Susan's world turned upside down when she was 13 and her mother died, questioning her belief and faith in God - with no family support system, a child truly lost. More is understood about cults now and impact of the vulnerable. It is now time for compassion for her.

"Passivity"? She was an active murderer--stabbing Hinman, smothering him to death, exhorting Tex to kill Steven Parent, stabbing Frykowski initially and helping Tex finish him off, and restraining and stabbing Sharon Tate.
bethpage89 4 years ago 3

She alludes to her "personal passivity?" Oh my dear lord, stabbing people to death...passive? Wow, she is as deluded and hallucinatory as ever.
