Mike comes from a bluesy/hard rock background while john is punk/rock and most of all funk influence. John uses a lot of arpeggios, while mike is improvisational and deep in the pentatonic scale.

I just think that Pearl Jam could've got a stronger Lead player..how do compare this guy to Eric Johnson , Joe Bonnamassa, Eric Gales, etc...McCready would be cupping his balls if he were to share the stage with them.

@bbbicf I listened to the track you recommended and seriously if you think that is the shit, then you are someone who's never studied the instrument intellectually, spiritually and just expanded your listening whats quality...and have a terrible taste is note choice, its gibberish and run of the mill pentatonic tasteless playing...go smoke your buds and dream on. Watch any Eric Johnson live video or Yngwie mlamsteen version of Red House, ha!

I like Frusciante (he is the reason why I start to play guitar)....... he is a fantastic rhythm player (mother's milk and blood sugar are awesome), but not a good lead guitarist...........

yea, thats what i think too, mccready creates amazing leads on almost all of pearl jam's songs, but frusciante knows sooo much about music and the guitar, it blows ur mind lol

MIke is the master Grunge improv guitarist....his stuff with pearl jam is cool, but to get the full McCready effect i think one needs to give Mad Season a listen
