@sbul1963 Mercury Rev . . I THINK.. are from New York. I talked to nearly every band member in the early 90s in Dallas. Very cool people. They were even cool with the shirt I made, that wasn't a pro Merc. shirt. Other bands might flip out, but "Grasshopper" laughed and complimented it. It was just a screen print of the Yer Self Is Steam album , which I still have on Vinyl.

I think the video is about the contrast between the America that most people dream of and the real America, portrayed by these two guys unnecessarily stopping this man and destroying his dreams and ideals... sounds kinda corny, but it's the feeling I get from the video. And makes some sense with the lyrics, you know "And I know, it ain't gonna last"...it's like almost reaching what you want, or even worse: reaching it but knowing it will soon fade away.

@glenboy64 I have nothing negative to say about them, they're an experimental band. But I do wish they would go back to their roots when they rocked out more unique than any band around. Them and the Flaming Lips had the most unique rock sound (same producer) in the late 80s and early 90s. Look up their Boces stuff, or stuff off their Yer Self Is Steam album. Bronx Cheer is a great toon and example of what I'm talking about.
