Compare this episdoe to "Death In Slow Motion," "Ring of Wax," or "Batman's Anniversary," and you will see how the show started with a good mixture of comedy and darkness, and then descended into stupidity.

True, I liked John Astin better as the Riddler. But this really was a sad exit for Frank Gorshin.

Riddler was never in enough Episodes after Series 1 and The Movie. Shame (And when I say ''Shame'' I don't mean Batman's Cowboy nemesis). I missed Gorshin during his abscennce in later Episodes. He's doubly missed today due to his early death in 2005 aged just 72, too young in this day and age.

The finest Riddler (though JIm Carrey came close). There is something manic about Frank Gorshin's portrayal---he BECOMES the kinetic Riddler from inside out--the voice, the insane laugh, the twisted body language, the demented thinking---Gorshin is the finest portrayal of a villain in 'Batman's rogues gallery-- many tv critics agree. Incomparable. Doens't everyone agree with me?.

Though I gotta disagree with you on Carrey as the Riddler as you can clearly see that a HUGE amount of his performance is incredibly similar to Gorshin's Riddler. But again I LOVED everyones portrail of villains. Burgess Meredith was my absolute favorite. His Penguin was just so damn awesome.

No one could truly compare to Frank Gorshins Riddler. He was the very best, John Astin just wasn't as animated as Gorshin. That's what made this campy tv show so good because the actors(significantly the villians) were seasoned actors and really good at their craft. As a child watching Batman after school was such a memorable event in my life, aah the 70's!
