@Izahdnb See, I get what you're saying, and it's a pretty typical response. There have been atrocities committed in the name of pretty much everything. However, there are fundamental differences between other religions and Islam. Islam teaches violence and intolerance, while other religions don't. When a Muslim commits a vile act, he's not doing it out of ignorance. He's doing it because his religion teaches it.

There are no open ended commands in the Scriptures for either Jews or Christians to commit violence against unbelievers. Nor are there any Jews or Christians committing such acts, on a regular basis, all around the world, in obedience to such commands.

@Yesica1993 I see your point. But for now, Christian and Jewish doctrine has more effect on our society than Muslim doctrine. At least in Holland where I live.

I am an atheist, gnostic or non-believer if you will. I don't want any of these religions to have such an effect on people. Break free of any doctrine. But I am also aware of the fact that Wilders is exaggerating facts and tries to scare people for an islamic state. Which will simply never happen here, so I am not scared.

@Yesica1993 Just because it is written in a book, doesn't mean every muslim is gonna carry out these things. There's a lot of good muslims, and only a few extremists who turn it into violence. Just like other religions (let's not even begin about Israel and it's oppression of the Palestinian people).

If you are against violence, be against violence in general.

If you are against suppression of women, be against suppression in general.

@Yesica1993 I'm not pro-Islam in any way. I would never make any excuses for horrible crimes against humanity. I just don't want to generalise a whole group of people, just because they have a certain belief system.

And I certainly don't believe everything the mainstream media is pumping out. What about mass school shootings, the massacre in Norway.. were they muslims? No. I am against violence in every way.. Not specific violence only.

Neither does closing your eyes to the source of the problem, which in this case is Islamic ideology as taught in the Koran and other texts. @Izahdnb As with any problem, the 1st step is acknowledging that there is a problem in the first place, and being willing to look at the situation honestly, no matter how difficult that may be. We're not even close to that. We're in the denial stage ("There's no problem!") and ignorance stage ("Islam teaches peace!").

We must start educating people about what Islam actually teaches. After that, we resist any moves toward sharia, which is incompatible with Western concepts of freedom.

That's not true at all. Sharia Law is completely ammendable. Any nation that acknowledges God's sovereignty, can become an Islamic nation and base Shariah Law off of the existing laws of the nation, ammending from there where seen fit in to express the Will of the Most Gracious, Most Merciful to the best of their abilities. The US DOI already acknowledges our Maker and Constitution is already ammendable.

Ask yourself, when's the first, last or any time we saw masses of Muslims protesting not as perceived victims or over cartoons, but protesting all the murder and mayhem done in their name? Is it not fair to ask why not?

Muslims aren't seen protesting those that misquote the Holy Qur'an and deceitfully spread revisionist history to encourage indiscriminate violence either because it might be misunderstood as discouraging fighting against tyranny and oppression, or they're seriously uneducated enough to fall for the revisionist history.
