@ColdFreezer Greetings from the UK, I had a D200 which I sold just before I made this video and replaced it with the D7000 which is better than I expected using the pro glass. I am looking forward to spring as the weather is very dull at the moment and hope to do a few review videos on my latest camera setup. Best wishes for the New Year and keep a lookout for updates. The Old Nikonian
@wadermanuk If I got to choose between your camera gear and your tattoos I'll take your gear any day in a heart beat! Lovely toolbox of gear you have there dude. :)
@philip5video Yes I would camera gear instead of the tattoos too. I had them done 37 years ago, and the designs were shit compared to the ones these days,
@TibetArchive Nope, got a D7000. Zoom H4n audio recorder plus a few other bits of kit.
Watch this space. Will do a few video reviews if the viewers are interested, I am not a pro but really keen on my photography and put any money that i earn into buying good glass etc. Yeh it is great having the gear but not every photo turns out good, You can still take a bad one here and there. Enjoy it for what is and don't shoot charts, shoot photos. :)
@issycherrymanUK If I had the choice I would go for the D5100. 16 Mgapixel, 1080p video with autofocus, ideal camera to learn with. If you are serious about learning photography always try and buy the best you can afford. Lenses are really important. You are best buying one or two good quality lenses instead of having a bag full of cheap ones that don't give the results you hoped for. Check on reviews on Youtube before you buy to avoid disappointment.
@issycherrymanUK Hi there, the Nikon 200-400mm f4 VR Mk11 recommended retail price in the UK is £6,382.99 but you should be able to get it for just over £5,000.00. The Wimberley Gimble head is around £450 but there are cheaper copies around on Ebay. It does help with heavy lenses and worth the money.
@Cagey75 Hi there, the only thing I can say is invest any money you make doing photography. Only buy the best you can afford. There are a lot of older but classic fast manual lenses around that can do a great job. I use a tripod quite a lot so the VR lenses are not such a big deal. Think about what type of photography you want to do and concentrate on buying only the lenses you need. I now have a D7000 and was really amazed at the quality that I got with the older lenses.
@wadermanuk Just got a new sigma 70-200 hsm today, about as much as my budget will allow, but as you say, once i start making some cash shooting, i'll upgrade in time ;)
Which is your favourite lens btw? if you had to pick one?
@Cagey75 Drop me a line and let me know how you are getting on with the Sigma. A friend of mine is thinking of getting the same next year. If I had to choose a lens then it would be the Nikon 70-200 f2.8. It covers a wide range and spends a lot of time on the D3. The next would be the Nikon 24-70 f2.8, Both are excellent lenses. Always try and buy good lenses so if you upgrade to a full frame camera, you will not need to upgrade your lenses. Hope all goes well with the Sigma. Regards Chris
@wadermanuk will do, weather was cat here today, so never got to take it out. Just a few testers indoors with off cam flash, and of course it was going to be tack sharp in that case. I'll give it a good try out over the coming days ;)
No, just do the odd wedding and portrait gig here and there. Mainly like wildlife photography for my own pleasure, but saying that, I do have a corporate gig tomorrow with 10 portraits to do in just over an hour which is pushing it a bit.
@hannaliciouz Well my Grandmother was getting rather old and wrinkly and seeing as I got a fair price for her it went towards a new lens. So a quick note to my Grandpa…. "Watch it as I am after a D4 when its released". lol.
Oldie????? cheeky fu**er, I am only 52, lol. You should get the lens hood with the lens. The hood has a neoprene camo cover made by realtree. Bought the full lens cover on eBay but removed it and just use part of it on the hood.
Yes it was fun doing the video. I chat with a friend online who is a photographer from Australia and don't think he believed me what gear i have so did the video in a Fro style just for a laugh. At least it brought a smile to some viewers faces while some did not see the funny side. Ah well, you can't please them all. I think it might be lens envy, lol. The big lens at the end is BIG and heavy and your arms always end up a bit longer after carrying this for a day. More videos to come.
I use the Canon XH-A1 Video camera for shooting weddings and my wildlife films in Scotland. I don't use it for day to day recording as when its fully kitted out with large matte box with flags, rails, 7 inch LCD monitor with power pack, shotgun microphones etc it gets quite heavy and everything needs to be stripped down and set up at each location. Not a 5 minute job. When I do weddings it is a two man job. All the pro videos are edited on a Mac Pro computer running Final cut pro 7 software.
Hi Chris.. love it, puts mine to shame! HECK thats a bloody big lens.. I like the gimble head, then again for what you do you would need it mate.. what did you film with your Canon camcorder?
I cant sell my grandma.. she passed away but its lovely to see these "whats in my bag" video's.. gives a fella a good idea of what to get (if needing help.
^^ but nice :)
