  • This is beautiful. In crowded places, we feel most alone. This really bring that sentiment out. We are alienated from our society.

  • ...but if you are (filmmaker) in fact 15 then I hope to see you on the flip side and never forget about the original idea.

  • wow, this is so amateur and annoying, but too yano...winner? really?

  • Awful soundtrack. I liked the cinematography, but hated that noise.

  • wow!!! pacy

  • Nice film

first i thought it has something to do with theory of relativity. haha!!

Audio reminded me of Dentist cleaning my teeth lolz.

  • Amazing sound effects. What city was this shot at?

  • i understand the message and emphasis of social segregation... but this isn't creative. its like those artists splashing one stroke and selling it as art. its bullshit. sorry lol. my opnion.

  • @placebo4yo No, the message is Pace. And it's very creavtive? Think about how it was shot.

  • @OndreiBlue I take back what I said. I should never discourage young directors doing their work. But to look at the positives. And yes, it is shot somewhat well, but I still go by saying the concept of it all I guess averages for a 15 year old. So I guess it fits.

  • It was a nice concept, but the sound was extremely annoying and harsh.

  • this film is pretty good at showing off melbourne. i want to visit it now.

  • wonderful.

  • all the noise was soooooooooooo fucking annoying

  • watch?v=DrNcrh3xmp0

PLEASE watch my SHORT FILM and tell me what you think. It would help me out a million. Thanks =)

  • i understand all the film techniques used and the use of the sound etc etc, but keep the audience wanting to find out what happens to the mysterious man, too many scenes, way too long, and the use of dynamics in the sound according to what the character was doing would have been kick ass, could have been alot better

  • I won for best cinematography for my film "Caregiver" I can see how this could win a Telly Award !

  • Im an assistant cinematographer. And wat is so Cinematographically spectacular about this? I dont get it. Its more editing then cinematography. The composition was mediocre and the lighting was nothing. Sure it might be a good idea as a film but the cinematography is not worth enough to win anything. Even if u actually used the camera (which i doubt) to ramp it its still childs play and fo sure not enough to win an award

  • This won for best cinematography? I'm a cinematographer myself, and the cinematography in this isn't shit. This is all just editing. The lighting sucks fat cock. The shot composition was decent, but this film isn't anything award worthy.

  • lol imagine people watching this in production "what a freak'

  • U SUCK OTHER POPLE PUT TIME IN IT AND MAKE SOME GOD FIL WHAT IS THIs WAT OF TIME ?

  • i skipped the boring part.

  • I am not sure that i got the whole concept right. The execution of the idea seems to be extremely poor and i agree with dimabbq about the noise being very annoying. Anyone who makes any sort of film should come up with a good concept without just spending money doing something so really stupid and useless.

  • this is fucking stupid

  • I wish i got the concept right.. But i feel in the ultimate end they should have shown another perception of a guy like this one and the movie should have ended there.. i hope its to do with perceptions...

  • What the fuck is this shit.

  • the back shots of the central character really added a sense of contemplativeness to the film great work!

  • fucking cool. the end made me shout "AWW"

  • I like the concept, but the thrill of the visual spectacle wears off and it soon turns boring.

  • nice execution keep it up!

  • looove the ending!

  • Very Cool, What do you call that filming technique? Is it a camera effect or is the actor just moving slowly. Love to know. Great job

  • ..not the one at the end. at 1:33

  • did you guys get the girls number??? who slowed down and was interested in you..??!!??!!??

  • how did u manage to film in public, the mall and out in the city? did you have to ask for permission?

    great work guys!

  • Great , especially considering the age of the young director. Really unbelievable !

  • That was incredible. Including the sounds from the recorder gave it such a great, jarring immediacy. A real piece of art. If you guys were really 15 when you made this then that is amazing. Keep going.

  • fuckface

  • whole morning waiting to meet the loving girl. internal individual pace versus external colective pace. good idea, although to long the short to get the point. i wish it could have gotten more creative as it progresed. it seems it was all the same idea told in the same way, through different scenes.

  • Dude sure knows how to waste time

  • Feel like I've just had a flashback!

    Great idea and executed convincingly.

  • the one thing most people are missing: IT IS REMARKABLE FOR 15 YEAR OLD TO UNDERSTAND THAT FILM MAKING IS ABOUT METAPHORES. Most adults in the industry actually fail to get that!

  • @Sophie101015 not really, teenagers look for much more complex symbolism where it either is or isn't located, at least from my perspective. and i am 15 as well.

  • @Sophie101015 No? Life is metaphores. You are a metaphore, we are metaphores. Metaphores do not exist and yes this is a metaphore. Metaphorically speaking, you make No Sense.

  • @Sophie101015 not ALL movies have to be about metaphores lol btw its metaphors not metaphores

  • I'm a writer/producer in Los Angeles who, unlike most who make that claim, makes money from it. As such, I have seen A LOT of people's "first film", some from cinematographers who became pro, and I can tell you that a lot of them are MUCH WORSE than this! The first time around, the ONLY THINGS that matter are the framing (shows talent) and the concept (shows originality). THESE GUYS HAVE DONE IT. They WILL succeed - if they try that is.

  • terrible , terrible soundtrack. who was the one who said, "yea lets use this sound throughout" hahaha good cinamtography i guess, just have to listen to it on mute.

  • I thought the best part was the sound. You spend three minutes getting use to the erratic noise and then it just stops. I actually wish they'd left the credit music off.

  • this is what 15 year olds should be doing! who cares if it sucks. it's better than sitting in a basement smoking weed and playing guitar hero.

  • In theory idea is good, but in practice; lots of flaws.

    anyway keep up!

  • Film was rad as fuck! I think the haters are jealous they didn't come up with the concept! Brilliant framing, nice pacing and aside from the consumer cam, beautiful film.

  • Concept of what? Fast forwarding a camera? LOL

  • nice work!!

    i love the ending...

    LOVE IT!

  • Good one. How'd you go taking the camera into shopping centers, etc? They tend to get a bit narky I have found?

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

My name is Jake. I played the main character.

Do you realise how fucking HILARIOUS your comments are?! A lot of you:

CHILL THE FUCK OUT. We don't even think this video is good! We can't control what award the competition people gave us! We rushed it, it's not very good, WE FUCKING KNOW THAT ALREADY. It wasn't even a real competition. It was for school students! We won a certificate!

"S1artibartfast" - your comment is a joke. DP and Lighting Designer??? HAHAHAHAH we were 15!

  • lol funny how ur telling ppl 2 chill the fuck out when your yelling at every1 to. this video needs alot of work. 0/5 *

  • PLEASE DON'T TELL ME THIS ACTUALLY GOT AN AWARD

    holy shit this was stupid

  • just plain awfull! sort out the sound dam it!

  • S

    H

    I

    T

  • Cinematography? The DP and Lighting Designer didn't even LIGHT this short...how did this win Best Cinematography? Were the other films shot on a football field with one can light?

Bah. It happens all the time. Politics in these festivals. Believe me...I know.

  • Cinematography? You serious? There's barely the thought of cinematography in this.

It's not entirely exciting. It's time consuming and a basic effect. Props to you... pfft.

  • the end was brilliant very nice work man.......

  • how long did ur actor sit still like that? thats some amazing timelaspse =) kudos!

  • Wow, Very well done, definitly deserves best cinematography!

  • Good, very good. You really captivated the plot, the scenario was really good, but some music would be really helpful as the protagonist walks around town as it to give a little more in depth thinking; Other then that it was great.

  • nice idea. if you had some Sigur Rós or something similar over the top, apart from the copyright issues it would enhance the effect but keep up the good work. like the change in speed at the beggining.

  • was this shot in Me!bourne?

  • The message is there but we are too far away from the main character to really feel what he feels and to emotionally grasp the climax what he's been waiting for all along; his girl.

Too many wides. Hopefully you have some close ups to add when you go back to it or maybe shoot some new ones.

  • well... if you put it that way... for me, it feels like he dread seeing his girl... at least from wat saw in the film.

not to rain on anyone's parade, but i also don't see wat's so breath taking about the composition as a whole... that shot on the roof looking at him in that plaza was like "where's weirdo"... i mean "waldo".

i also don't get the idea of that dolly shot at the end, u changed the speed to normal to say his world is normal now he's with the girl, buy why move away from him?

  • I understood -maybe I'm wrong... - that the camera tilted back at the end as a metaphore for the fact that now that he is "normal", he is also no longer special and gets lost in the crowd, becomes invisible - he doesn't stand out anymore. I'd love to know if that's what the creators had in mind...

  • great ending, very clever!

  • this kind of stuff makes me a bit sick ...fair film...

  • Hi all, i am a Director/Production assistant and if there are any filmmakers out there that need a director then im your guy. Please call me and my company directly at 07732339579. Thank you.

  • Very nice!!

  • hahaha. I'm actually the star of this film. Thankyou to all those who liked it, BUT: Please don't read into a meaning too much, and we definitely don't think it's in any way 'ingenious'.

We know the sound's annoying (we couldn't use copyrighted music) and it really is far too long. We have been meaning to come back and give it a big polish for a looonng time. School's over in 2 months so we'll look at it then and get the execution up to standards!

  • hi could u tell me how u did that effect in editing. plese im dying to learn that. i use final cut

  • I use Avid, but i think we used imovie at school to edit this. Basically just have a look for time based effects. It's often grouped with the effect that reverses footage. Final Cut will definitely have something that can speed up footage.

Just google it or look it up in the FC help menu!

  • Click on the clip you want to apply the edit on, then press apple + j and then you will understand on your own what to do. But I think you already got it since then.

  • great idea executed well, beautiful shots.

  • nice job

  • well now..the film is about being able to enjoy your own peace and do not let the society (the annoying part)ruin it. Besides if you know how to look at it..everything is so special and you get to be happy. BRAVO!

  • A twist or a wending in the story had to come a little earlier because yea ...Like GrNaDaShortFilms said, even after 1 half ofthe movie was finished, I didnt get it.

  • man i love this film

  • that was awesome... all these people say they think its annoying, but thats the reality of society. we have to find love to find peace.

  • ...

It's already halfway through the video and I still don't understand your point, it seems all you have done is placed the camera wherever and fastfowarded anything it captured.

    Please explain :)

  • ahhh! the sound is so annoying.

  • Comment removed

  • @dimabbq a film should have the primary goal of being whatever the director wants it to be.

  • @Ichvyenichalster yeah i agree. ignore my other ramblings.

  • why should this win an award it sucks it's like watching paint dry

  • the composition of a lot of the shots was excellent. only near the end did i realise it was filmed in melbourne.

    nice work.

  • ok im a getting so friggin tired of horrible films winning stuff. this isnt cinematography!!! you put a $200 camera on a tri-pod and films stuff while you read harry potter. ALSO tired of people this shit like this is good....this is not good...by any means theres nothing about this that is good. hate me if you want. i calls'em like i see's em.

  • I totally agree with you, actually

  • This is not cinematography, this is cheap video footage.

  • This is absolutely excellent, and very ingenius!! You are a brilliant director, and should have won many awards for this!! I love how at the end everything slows down...so clever!! However, his jerky walking kinda creeps me out a bit ^__^

  • Sorry, but this isn´t ingenius at all.

He´s repeating Wong Kar Wai´s shot over and over and over again.

    Not very creative.

  • i think its a very good dipiction of a protogonist.

  • That was really good!

  • Idea is very nice ! good Job !

  • Idea is very nice ! good Job !

  • good one...!

  • what city was this filmed in?

  • melbourne, Australia :)

  • looks like a pritty point less film to me =S

  • I don't know why you won best cinematography

  • exactly what i thought

  • Great film - can see why you won the award - excellent editing / post production
