The higher black unemployment rate isn't due to racism, its because of mostly individual choices. How many blacks are seeking a career in the music industry right now? How many actually get recording contracts?

While I do believe that's wrong, I mostly perceive that kind of action to be incredibly stupid. If that supervisor was a smart businessman he'd hire the more qualified person for the job regardless of who he liked more.

However, there is nothing stopping that other applicant from making an effort to get to know this employer on a personal level to even the playing field. Additionally, there shouldn't be any laws or regulations to interfere with that employer's decision.

Qualifications are of paramount importance but I believe your personality also matters a lot. You could have the most qualified person, but if he or she is a total A hole then they would only hurt the company. Both inside & out.
