Great video. JLL sure can sang Country & I love the ease with which he knocks one after the other out of the ballpark. But Jerry Lee himself seems to prefer Rock & Roll. He repeatedly says "Whole Lotta Shakin'" is his favorite song to perform. He calls himself the King (or 'a' king) of Rock & Roll too. I don't understand it. I guess he was forced to make his comeback in Country, but his heart really belongs to R & R. (???)
A #1 hit on the Country & Western charts for Da Killer. It was the 157th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. And the Country Music scene was fixing to get shot into the stratosphere.
He made every song he sang his whether is was rock and roll or country. I much prefer to hear him sing country. So smooth when he wanted to be. Love the hair in this video.
Jerry Lee is better & was more successful at country than he ever was at rock n roll, he only scored 2 million seller hits in 1957. But from 1968 to 1980 Jerry Lee had a long string of country hits. Country music allowed him to express the real Jerry Lee as he really was, where as with rock n roll he has to live up to an image because Rock is fake & phony just like acting, but with country Jerry Lee could just be himself. Jerry Lee Lewis is a Country artist & country music is what he does best.
Hopefully we get some more dates for Killer's 2010 tour in Europe, so the chance to meet us will be realistic......would be great to meet you and have a couple of drinks together again!
I was reading all the nice comments here about Jerry, and I want to cry. I love how Jerry brings out the best in all of us, he's amazing. Thank you to all Jerry's fans. :'C your like family!
Damn... I'm sittin here wipin tears away. Absolutely perfect - in every way - from beginning to end.... This is what I believe to be Jerry's finest moment with a country song on television. He was really on the mark that day, and looking to impress the world. Mission accomplished!
